Bro, when I saw your Watch 5 reviews awhile ago and a few other brands, I knew you'd be my go-to for the Watch 6 in the future. Well, the future IS NOW. This is the fitness context I am looking for. Looking forward to the full depth soon. Thank you
Always the place I go when I need in depth information about Fitness tech!! Thanks for the GPS info on the Series 6, if they fixed it on runs too then my main gripe with the watch is gone!!
Ive “tested” the garmin fénix pro 6 against my doctor’s office meters ( they we were just as curious) and the garmin always came in about 2% below after 120 readings.... looking at your results I’d say the Apple Watch comes in right on target with the my doctor’s meter.,
I absolutely love it! Went for series 6 Nike 44mm and the black sport loop. The SE would be good enough, but I wanted the always on display. The main reason I got the series 6 though, is the blood oxygen sensor. I have been in and out of the hospital so many times the last couple of months, so monitoring my blood oxygen could actually save me! Upgrading from my series 2, which surprisingly runs pretty well today (gave it to my wife), but the upgrade is insane. Absolutely loving it! Best buy in 2020 for me, lets see if ps5 and iPhone 12 pro max will top it😂
Speaking of wrist based heartrate sensor accuacy, it's more about the strap than the device itself. A good nylong strap can fix most of the problem. When I just get my Galaxy watch active 2, it came with a slippery slicon strap, the heatrate reading is all over the place because it's sliding around on my wrist, it can display 110 bpm when I was just walking. I switch to a nylong strap and it's very accurate now.
Sir, I am thinking to buy this watch, but waiting for your full in-depth review of this watch. When approximately will be rolling out so that I can wait before buying a watch. I absolutely love your indepth reviews
I am waiting for the un-depth review too, trigger finger is on the buy now button but going to wait. It will be my first watch since 2015 so want to make sure I make the right decision. @Desfit great reviews, I have taken so much valuable information from all your videos. Keep up the good work.
Liked, subbed and leaving this comment for the algorithm. Seen how detailed your reviews are and I think they are the best I have watched about smart watches on youtube.
Wonder if the GPS performance improvements are from the Series 6 or just watchOS 7? Could be interesting if you can compare it to Series 5 with watchOS 7 (as well as the SE)
Watched both your apple watch Videos, thank you very much for all the testing & information. Mine is coming on Monday, still interested in your further testing!
I’ve been refreshing my RUclips since the Apple Watch series 6 dropped waiting for you to do this video! I value your opinion so much and want your help choosing between fenix 6 or Apple Watch 6
Thanks! They are drastically different watches. The Fenix is sports oriented with amazing durability and the Apple Watch is a phenomenal smartwatch but the performance as a fitness device is pretty darn good, but it just has less fitness features. It’s a hard call.
It's true but nothing about sleep and i think this is the weakest point of this watch, since for some very odd reason, Apple don't do a REAL sleep tracking.
The title to me is confusing. I was hoping for a test between the iphone 6 and for example the Gamin fenix watch and how they compare on the oxygen and heartrate tests
Did you have much GPS deviations between the S5 and the S6? I sent back my S5 due to inaccuracies. I'm happy that not every device is perfect but at least with my Tactix Delta if it's wrong then it's always wrong. The S5 would give me different results constantly on the same route.
Many smartwatches cannot take lap splits which makes them unusable for serious training e.g. track intervals. Can you include this feature in your tests?
Hey Des! When you do your full review for the apple watch can you go over what the polling mechanism (HR, GPS, Alt,etc) is for AW? I don't believe it is configurable right? Is it configurable for Garmin watches?
Not configurable on the Apple Watches but there are differences between the stock workout app and 3rd party apps. Yes, it is configurable for most Garmin watches from "Smart" to Every Second. Settings>System>Data Recording.
I have a Garmin 245 watch...I'm thinking of buying an Apple Watch - eyeing its function as a smartwatch...and also somewhat a replacement for the Garmin Watch - but I'm not sure - as Garmin Connect interface is able to give me a very comprehensive picture of how I am doing in each of my running session through the very detail metrics provided by Garmin Connect in iOS and desktop version -and I 'm able to compare how I am doing...and gives me targets to work on... I'm not sure if Apple Watch and Health App (am I correct?) is able to match those details - . In your next video which you will be putting up here, could you please devote a bit more time covering these areas? Thanks
My Forerunner 645 has another three day to go at 63% battery and two runs coming up on the weekend. I have no idea how people deal with 18 hours of battery life....
Hi Des. You are cranking out reviews now. This may be the reason for me to finally get an iPhone and get the AW6. The Apple app, out of curiosity, does not have training metrics like training load pro or cardio load does it?
@@DesFit Ah. I see. That's an argument favor of a Polar or Garmin then if you want those types of metrics. Maybe you could use Polar Beats on the watch as a work around. Thanks Des!

Currently bought the series 4 from eBay, literally is almost the same thing without always on and the blood oxygen which I’m not really missing out on anything, maybe I’ll upgrade on the 7th generation
Cool overview. I just got my first Apple watch(series 6 Nike edition) to monitor my rides & heart rate. Which apple watch app do you use to monitor your heart rate while riding? The native apple workout app? Or a third party app? Thanks!
The only video I’ve seen that’s fitness focused! Finally! Thank you. Could you please review the blood oxygen sensor performance during exercise? I’m yet to see anyone talking about how useful it is. Or if it’s a feature worth having at all.
To get an accurate SPO2 reading you’ll need to remain still so it doesn’t really work in a fitness scenario. This is true amongst all watches that have SPO2 sensors. Hope that helps. Thanks!
DesFit oh I see. So it won’t be useful unless I stop my workout and remain still for 15sec to measure my SpO2 if I need it. Not very convenient 🙁 Thank you for the clarification. Much appreciated. 😊
Great review as always mate! I have a Fenix 5x that I love for the outdoors/training etc but have been considering an Apple Watch as more of a ‘lifestyle’ type of watch. I’m looking forward to your in-depth review 👍
Nice review. Now with the Qualcomm 4100 on the Ticwatch Pro 3 will you ever make a comparison video against the Apple Watch 6? None are sport oriented devices and each has it's pros and cons.
Great review! If I switch off the 'always on' display, can I get more than 6 hours out of the battery on a long run, in gps mode and listening to Apple Music so with bluetooth activated? I reckon the display will always be on, even if I don't want it to be, because I'll always be moving my arms and hands during the run.
Listening to music paired to the watch is a battery-drainer on nearly all watches unfortunately. I'm doing lots of testing surrounding battery life but I am doubting that it could last more than 6 hours while listening to music. If you disable the always-on display, it actually requires the action of raising your wrist to wake up the display. It's not overly sensitive where it constantly comes on. Thanks!
@@DesFit Thanks, Desfit!! What about the iPhone SE 2020? 1) Will I get 7 hours from the battery with the phone in gps mode, so that I can use Strava when running, and with me listening to downloaded music in my Apple Music library (so with bluetooth activated)? 2) If not, will I be able to do that with the iPhone 11? 3) Do you expect the iPhone 12's battery to beat the 11's in a battery test? Some are doubting that it will... Thanks, again!!
3% difference on the oximeter is a huge difference, I wonder which one was the accurate one. To put it on perspective, 94% pretty much requires a visit to the hospital. great video, thanks!
Hi Des, Thanks for your videos! I have an Apple Watch series 5 but I am thinking of getting a proper fitness watch. Is it still worth buying the fénix 6 pro? Any other recommendation at this point in time?
Definitely. The Fenix 6 Pro has a boatload of sports features that the Apple Watches don’t have. The smartwatch experience is going to be a drastic change, mainly iMessage and iOS app integration, but it’s hard to beat the Fenix when it comes to sports.
What will the fenix give you? For me it seemes a little bit constrained. Like you get what you have paid for. With Apple watch i get a bit more modular feeling.
David Chodúr thanks for sharing your view. Well, when I bought my first SmartWatch (my current series 5) I did it looking for fitness insight. However, after nearly a year of use it leaves me with a disappointing feeling, because when it comes to sports it doesn’t give you enough information, stats.... it so basic. It is true that it gives me more in terms of smartwatch stuff but for me that is not necessary. As long as it tells me when someone calls me or text me.... for the rest I always end up taking the phone which I always have with me. I think Garmin will give me so much information for all my runs, rides, hikes, skiing days, sleep, fitness status... I won’t have to worry about battery!!! Having to charge the Apple Watch everyday it is so annoying, not to mention the impossibility to go for a long day into the mountains without failing to record your entire hike!
Des love the review...any timeline on when the full in-depth review will be posted? Was looking at 745 but looks like apple fixed gps so...(I am just a runner for now with an iphone...)
Nice video! I am cyclist and i use as my main gps wahoo elmnt bolt but i have fenix 6x pro because i want to see my performance metrics and measure my heart rate 24/7. I also have AW 5 and i am seeing differences in heart rate, special in resting heart rate. I am considering to sacrifice the performance metrics and buy AW 6. My only worry is the reliability of resting heart rate measurements of AW 6 because is not take metrics 24/7. Whats your opinion on that? Thanks!
Great review. I plan on replacing my Polar H10 with the Series 6 and was concerned the HR monitoring might not be as accurate - looks close enough! Just a shame about Apples weird HR graph.
Thanks! I have to agree about Apple's very odd HR graph within their app. Even after 4 years of testing different Apple Watches, I still don't get it! 🤷♂️
Does this have the capability of uploading any maps?.... can I make my own maps, can I upload transparent trails or contours maps to overlay on other maps like my Fenix and navigate mountain trails etc without a phone? Or is it still very basic? Thanks for the review as always : -) 👍
@@seemann1312 Thank you I just had a look... It looks promising... can you save many locations on the watch as well... I've been waiting for a watch to match Garmins with maps... I want more choices...thanks for your reply : -)
Waiting for the in depth review. But I ever run using NRC on Apple watch series 4 Nike Edition, the gyro censor work well for elevation, even in the apps core workout on apple watch, but after I export to strava they measure elevation too high. The soccer field is flat, but the strava data measure before the soccer field flat. I assume that the data strava too old for my country
Good review. Looking forward for the in depth video. I've have been using the Garmin Watches for last 4 years and thinking of switching to Apple watch series 6. My primary activities are biking , running and hiking. Can you tell me if Apple health app provides similar data as Garmin connect app and also let me know if Apple Watch has the autopause functionality. Thanks in advance.
Since you’re wearing your Apple Watch on your right hand, you may want to consider flipping the display upside down so you don’t have to reach over your screen to reach the Digital Crown.
I wear the crown that way to prevent accidental presses. I’ve been told so many times that I’m wearing it wrong 😂 Just my preference but you actually were nice about it! 😁 Thanks!

@@Grmnfdz really? How long hike are we talking about ?
Des love the review...any timeline on when the full in-depth review will be posted? Was looking at 745 but looks like apple fixed gps so...(I am just a runner for now with an iphone...)
Thanks! It will be at least 10-14 days. Trying to finish up a couple long term reviews and then on to the 6!
I love your reviews! You should do a video about you and your story sometime 😁
Interesting idea! Thanks so much!
I have a very hard time deciding between the 40 and 44mm size. 40 is too small and 44 too big :(
What program are you using to overlay the different heart rate data?
The DC Rainmaker analyzer tool. It’s a great tool and anyone can use it!
Can you bike (track on watch) while answering a call on the watch?
Does this have the capability of uploading any maps?.... can I make my own maps, can I upload transparent trails or contours maps to overlay on other maps like my Fenix and navigate mountain trails etc without a phone? Or is it still very basic?
Thanks for the review as always : -) 👍
Please use "WorkOutdoors" App on Apple Watch.
@@seemann1312 Thank you I just had a look... It looks promising... can you save many locations on the watch as well...
I've been waiting for a watch to match Garmins with maps... I want more choices...thanks for your reply : -)
I'm 17-ish wrist and use second to largest on S/M strap. My heart goes out to people with 18mm wrist.
Definitely.
Is the heart rate sensor on the s6 more accurate than s4 and s5 ?
That info is coming up!
Is gps and heart rate just as good with the SE?
I’ve got a video on the SE as well! 👍
I have a Garmin vivoactive 3. I love having heart rate zones in garmin. Does the Apple Watch workout app break down heart rate zones?
you will have to install third party apps to run interval & check hr zone, you can check for workoutdoors in app store
😁 Thanks!
DesFit Oh, no worries! I have a few friends that wear it on the left hand with the buttons on the left because Siri keeps popping up during workouts too! You do you
