I love the idea of Durak the Unbreakable leading his last couple regiments of chaos dwarfs through their now greenskin overrun factory, having to carefully manage their ammo and collecting more as they go.
Absolutely amazing disaster battle!
P.S. Never in my near 1500 hours have I seen only a hero escape from a battle.
Watching these has shown me how lucky I got in my Drazhoath campaign. Every dangerous enemy I had ended up getting defeated by someone else. Helman Ghorst got beat up by Kugath and Greasus; Grimgor got beat up by Kholek; Thorgrim got beat up by Skarsnik; and Ungrim got beat up by Azhag. I was able to waltz on in and finish up the sweeping job.
Sometimes that happens but for me it's kind of a bummer. I have more fun when things are tight.

When i play as the Chorfs I make use of ambush stance and use 4 lords so grimgor can only see the juicy bait lords and the actual army is ready to ambush his ass this way I can level up my 2nd 3rd and 4th overseers while dealing with the Grimgor problem effectively

Dude its battles like these that give me quite the adrenalin surge just watching you play them! Thanks Legend for keeping us motivated with content like this, you truly are a legend mate. ;)
The setup and result of this one reminded me of those puzzle chess scenarios, where you are given exactly what you need to win. You only have to figure out what bizarre combination of moves will get you there. Legend, or course, does it it one try!

On this map, the AI tends to all come in from one side when they have reinforcements. I usually camp the closest point and they all clump on the ramp all 40 units. Literally wiped entire armies of orcs with the "nuke" in this map.
this feels sooo validating. All the time in WH2 Grimgor was ruining my campaigns over and over and everyone was like "naa hes fine" finally in WH3 it seems to have catched up. So satisfying to see Legend ruining Grimgors stupid armies

I think that pistol that Sorcerer-Prophets have gets underused. I started trying to give them line of sight in such close battles and they can rack up quite a few kills especially if shooting into large mobs. Of course if he needs to run he needs to run.

With all these saving ya "grimgor wants ya" battles, I am really coming to appreciate how pathetic he was in my first CDwarf campaign. He really pissed about, back and forth, doing nothing, until he was easy pray to ambush and destruction.
I'm surprised you even thought this was possible.
First time I played as Drazhoath the Ashen I allied with Greasus and he stream rolled Grimgor.
I think it is a good decision. I am playing Legion of Azgorh campaign right now and fighting both Grimgor and Greasus, with Imrik on the south and some as*hole random skaven on the north is really hard to deal with. Sending early convoys to improve relations with nearby Ogres seems like a solid opening strategy.
@The_Magooch I went to war with ogres early and it just opens up another front and you get attacked on all sides from skaven high elves and orcs forever takes a long time to fix
What difficulty was this? Diplomacy is a lot harder on higher difficulties. You would be pretty hard pressed to get an alliance on legendary. In fact, its possible to get unlucky and have Greasus declare war on you randomly instead. The trade caravan for ogre diplo, and/or the diplo trait lords are nice to prevent this, but I havent seen him even CLOSE to an alliance even with that stuff. Cant even normally get a trade agreement.
Not kidding about how easy these settlement is to defend. Fought at the sentinels so many times since I picked up the CD dlc
Honestly grimgor has never been a problem for me i do tend to play rush style so by turn 12 am after am done killing the rats i immediately rush towards him , kill him setup defenses there secure the territory that connects the badlands to the world edge mountains and then i focus on killing imirik and making 4 armies sending 2 to the east to finish off the ogres and vampires securing that range and the other to wipe out the dwarfs after that it boils down to mainting and defending the territory until i have around 4 or 8 armies ready go expand from both sides. Alliances with all the evil factions is a must though once the order factions are wiped out you can clear up the rest.
I keep running into him and Wurzag every time i try to play a Chorf campaign, even on normal. it's hard enough to try and get their economy up and running without having to worry about every other WAAGH that comes your way.
I really want to finish my Chorfs IE campaign but the game crushes to much duing battles... Hopes for the new patch.
Or lags on campaign map so much it makes my head hurt.

My game has been crashing so bad after the last patch.
@@botep5529 I have had more crashes then normal, but its not so often its unplayable for me. My friend however cant play the game. Strange thing was that he had played the game just fine on this patch before hand, but he moved his game from his HDD to his SSD (I have no idea why he bothered putting this game on an HDD personally), and after that the game now crashes repeatable. He tried reinstalling the game, didnt work. He reinstalled it back to his HDD, didnt work .He just crashes after every battle now, when before he was able to play just fine, although with like 5-10min load times.
@@TheSpencer1000 Ask him to check if his SSD has enough space to accommodate the game. I was getting loads of crashes, until I removed some files from my SSD, which completely fixed it.

Units will use ranged attacks if engaged in melee when they have ranged attacks off in warhammer 3 but not in warhammer 2.
Cant tell if intentional or oversight. Any mods to undo it?
I might channel magic if a battle is going to be over in 2-3 minutes and I'm never gonna get through my reserves anyway. Usually on battles where I'm going to take virtually no casualties but the autoresolve decided it wanted to wipe one of my units.
THE ROADMAP LEGEND
i used channel magic sometimes in TWW2 and it sometimes did have an impact. however, it seems like in TWW3 there are less extreme swings in starting magic and a more narrow range for channel magic. i think it was overlooked when they changed how magic worked in 3 because it does not help as much as it did in 2.

Damn, how can I provoke Grimgor in my campaign? He is usually much weaker than me by the time I get up to him playing as Drazoath.
I have the same thing as well so I wonder how other people seem to be getting to scraps with him. Must be something they are doing on purpose...
Send a convoy up towards his start, and then declare war on him when you make contact.

Im doing a multiplayer campaign with my buddy and im drazhoath and he is astragoth, however he got gordaz at the start so I had to make due without which as it turns out, makes the chaos dwarf start a fair amount harder. Plus tretch did something weird when I was killing him and actually used his hero to slow my main armies campaign movement speed the turn before I took his last settlement making me unable to reach and slow me down a turn, which caused Emrik to not be in the minor settlement, but instead randomly a little bit away from his capital settlement with a second lord. I made a rookie move and right after taking the capital, I left my main army inside the city which then made Emrik just siege that settlement with his extra lord and then attack the second stack that had the goblins in it since drazhoath cant reinforce while under siege.
That battle was the closest victory I ever had and probably ever will. Literally came down to 2 overseers on foot vs Emrik on a horse after everything else routed. I had to cycle charge one lord while the other held him in place from running away and cycle charging me since he was on a horse. One lord routed and then Emrik started to cycle charge my last lord, but at less 300hp on my lord and Emrik down to 70hp, both lords can get one shot. Both charged at each other and Emrik missed the swing and my lord ended his life with his final life ending hit.
Good news is I didnt lose a single unit, although the army was about as haggard as it gets.

It's nothing new for a race pack to have units that vastly overpreform but I'll be amazed if blunderbusses aren't hit with a nerf soon

My brother in christ you just watched two of them essentially take on two full stacks.
But putting aside the replenishing ammo/ other siege battle fuckery, yes imo blunderbusses simply dish out far too much damage far to quickly to anything (single entity or units). If I were to compare them to other units of a similar type (low range/ high damage) such as warpfires or ironbreakers well…there is no comparison

@@talilover5979 your comment is literally pointless. Dwarf comparison is fair, but dwarfs suck, it’s not a blunderbuss problem. Skaven comparison doesn’t make sense, warpfires perform completely different function and skaven weapon teams are still the strongest missile units in the game

dont place chaos dwarf warriors like this because they will get leadership penalty (they are getting flanked). So make them face the Greenskins with their shields

0:10 that is not true. i been playing Beastman only in WH3. and i have almost ready bull stack to show to you. even atat turn 420 it is not fully done. because the game just will not drop proper heroes and items.
nothing. and i mean NOTHING can beat full disciplined gore bull stack with regeneration and leadership sinking weapons. nothing. even 6 vampire armies didn't handle unfinished one.
Needing Trollhide has annoyed me so much I got a mod from a friend to bring back Drunken Bravado and 10 ward on the Essence. Cut the melee attack to 5 though
It's a shame you don't cover the game updates. Because all the youtubers are over the moon about the stuff that was announced and you'd be the only one to address that we don't get FLC lords anymore. Everyone else ignores it.

I find that when the enemy army is waiting for reinforcements, they will rotate their entire army line to face your army and was the weird ai behaviour at the begining

Gotta love how derpy the AI acts in Legend's VH battles compared to when I face them in Normal.
They act derpy because legend derps them, not because he gets magic derp cheats. You just don't know the tricks of the trade.

@@mattandrews2594 At the start they did attack all at once. The recapping of the points derped them out quite a lot too. The rest is formation and stuff like taking out the arty and once unit of trolls at the start.

Constant harassment with the wolves for starters, got the catas to agro on them for easy kills after kiting the trolls. back capped points to cause AI to derp about recapping.
The longer a battle goes the ai's formations become less and less cohesive until it completely breaks and either blobs or streams in one at a time.
Some time ago Legend talked about a 5 minute rule aggression or something like that, basically the ai Is aggressive at First but of u manager to stalla them they get derpy, this was on wh2 don't know if It still counts on 3

They're drawing their frontline as parallel as possible to yours and that means doing weird shit coz the buildings are in the way
Not only does noone use channel magic, it's been bugged since the start so it doesn't work and 99% of the time you will just lose and 1% of the time you'll "win" and it won't do anything. I honestly wish they'd just remove it.

I tried playing Grimgor with the new DLC simply you can get rich super fast now because of the Chaos Dwarfs Early/Mid game chaos dwarfs are easy to stomp. On Very Hard BTW don't play much legendary
For some reason, twice in a row now in my 2 Drazhoath campaigns, a bunch of other lords join the fight against Grimgor. Zhatan, Greasus and Kholek specifically. Whenever I am Astragoth or Zhatan I feel rather alone in my fight against the dude.
Given the meta strategy of defending one point like Legend does here and in most Warhammer 3 sieges, would it not be better to go all in and get the most expensive towers since you're probably only using two or three slots anyway?
I channel magic just to gamble and almost always get less magic on Normal difficulty

Here's a fun short story. Was on a Skrolk campaign. Game was constantly crashing in UI and in battles. Got frustrated, took a break, decided to come back and played till turn 90 with a few crashes here and there. Spread to every continent making plans for Ulthuan and the crisis when AI attacked one of my settlements, while the game was saving it crashed, corrupting the save file and ending my campaign... Wrote a nasty review which i never do, uninstalled 3 and started up a new campaign in tww2 and don't mean to come back before at least a year which might actually be too soon for CA to fix this game.
I had tons of crashes all over the place, usually when loading into or ending a battle. Could be really frustrating to just try and load into some important fight and have it crash 3-5 times in a row. Even worse was spending like 20 minutes on a siege and the game crashes on a loading screen, so I just lost my time and brain cells. But it suddenly stopped. Been doing VH Mazdamundi campaign, at first had constant crashes but after 3.0.1 had none. Also campaign map lags are gone as well.
@@shmekelfreckles8157 Oh that's nice to hear. I see they addressed some of the technical issues in 3.0.1. I guess i might give it another go after i'm done with the Rakarth campaign i'm on in tww2 right now :) But man that corrupted save file was rough. RIP my glorious rat empire :(
