Depending on the patch, certain explosions will lose all vertical components or will have it at least significantly reduced. It happens for many different explosions at different points in the patch history and comes and goes with patches.

Auto resolve puts a huge priority on armor and leadership. That's why a lot of times Khorne settlements with base garrison can beat out full stacks of skelly boys when they really shouldn't. Also why Ghorst's end game zombie stacks still need to be played out even on minor battles, despite hardly ever being damaged.
Temperate climate being unpleasant for Greenskins factions was always a stupid notion. Greenskins are supposed to be a hardy species that can survive anywhere.
Grog is Bored temperate climate is too peaceful. ! Grog just got an idea! Beats up his fellow greenskins. Other greenskins, Grogs a genius! joins in the scuffle.
Speaking from experience I got to agree, the pathing in this game has really gotten worse, and I didn't think that was possible. Monsters clipping through the gates they are supposed to break, infantry climbing ladders with the gate wide open and my favourite 'cavalry refusing to charge archers in the back'. I can live with most issues this game has, but this isn't fun.
Was playing earlier with the Southern Realms mod, and one of my Regiment of Renown Knight units got stuck on...... a group of goblin archers. They then got assblasted by two units of Rock trolls because they simply would not break through the goblins. It's been very frustrating to say the least.
The gate thing was something that broke my brain and the ai too. Ive actually had siege battles won because the ai would get stuck with two monsters in the gate Then I realized something, the game only paths one unit through a gate at a time. So when you try to move groups of any unit through the gate it paths to the walls if it can since the gate is “occupied” by a unit passing through it. Traffic jams in my city? More likely than you think. I believe the pathing does this specifically because of monsters and units getting stuck on each other in the choke point of the gate
The most frustrating was my chariots in a settra game got stuck on themselves and could no longer move, so they died to zombies because they could not move to attack.
So, this isnt even as busted as Goblin's could have been. Back when Grom entered pre-release in WH2, and the early access content creators were showing him off, the Eagle Talon buff was a multiplicative boost to Goblin Archer AP Damage. Between the scrap upgrade that boosted their AP damage, and the Eagle Talon buff, Goblin Archers were getting something like a 800% boost to their 2 points of base SP damage, and so were now doing 16 AP damage per shot. This turned them into one of the hardest hitting archer units in the game, as LegendofTotalWar admirably demonstrated in his early access campaign when he had 10 units of Goblins outshoot High Elves. CA then immediately nerfed this ingredient into the ground prior to the official release, and it now provides an anti-infantry buff instead of basically giving your goblin archers nukes.
I remember the days when there was a food effect that would add a little extra ap and a scrap upgrade that would increase ap damage on Goblin archers by like 400% (which normally means like 4 extra damage) and they would stack, meaning your Goblin Archers would deal Waywatchers levels of damage whilst having twice as many models in a unit....
Your units will act weird on walking through gates if you order through units 1 at a time. Ordering many units through treat Siege Towers and Ladders as equivalent to Gates, meaning that they try to enter the closest route, regardless of how efficient it is. Units that cannot go up ladders ignore these rules.
absolutely loved this, please keep doing these. as much as it is to watch you do stupidily hard challenges its also fun to watch you do challenges where you are more free to choose what units you can use and not limit yourself in that way
From what I have heard and seen is that if a ladder is place units will prioritize the ladder over a gate. It might help if you give individual move orders instead of trying to move several units so one unit at a time move order might help.
when you have an ally that you want to destroy (30:25) it's best to play the battle, then hold back and let the ally do all the fighting whilst you nail both sides with spells and archers.
He's both, basically. The Troll meat is constantly regenerating inside of him but parts of him are still Goblin. Based on the lore I'm 99% certain that he contains full, living, sets of both Goblin and Troll DNA

That reload of the one battle was 100% correct! It's the reason i personally dont play on Legendary. You are more likely to loose a campaign to some weird bug than to poor decision making :P Great video!

I kinda understand the ai logic in siege battle...so when you order them to get into the city, they will try to find the shortest pass. If there's no ladder placed (which is the best case) they will all squize through the closest door or breach of the walls. But if there is ladder near, they will just climb it cuz it's closer. What's WORSE is that when there is a unit trying to pass the gate, the other units would consider the gate "blocked" therefore "inaccessible", so they will look for the other ways to pass through. At this time if there is ladder near by, they will just climb it. The solution is to put every unit right infront of gate one by one, treat them like sort of brain-dead children, manually order them to stand infront of gate then order one unit to go through, once all models of the unit get inside, you repeat the whole process until all of your units get in. Or you can just not put down the ladder, the ai won't put down ladder themselves. Honestly the logic SEEMS right, but somehow just maneged to perform the MOST stupid behavior. Well done CA.
Only because of the difficulty level + time constraints. Definitely doable with low micro, especially if you focus more on buffing the archers and fight battles more defensively.
I got a tip for you : When your chariot unit, especially lords in chariots are stuck by few dudes in front of them like in 8:20 just click in and off the dudess unit, you will get a gentle push that can clear the way. Hope it will be usefull!
When it comes to sieges always remember to use shift when doing movement orders in order to path them through the gates, because they will take the ladders, every....single...one of them

They really need to give Skarsnik some more Goblin buffs. I was having fun with a campaign the other day, mainly using Squig hoppers and nasty skulkers to destroy the chaos stunties, then I confederated Grom.... and realized the sonuvabitch gives goblins Bonus Vs Large which was the main issue my army of glass cannon goblins was facing.
Maxing out basic b!tch goblins with Grom is one of my favorite play throughs. After the full red line is done with him, get the Big Lizard wagh reward, which can be tough, but damn. I get the goblins up to 52% physical resist, stats over 50, sometimes 60 for attack/def, and once had all that PLUS Mathlan's Blessing or whatever for another 25% resist for 10 turns. Also you can basically recruit anything globally in 1 round(Elven Fois Grois) at rank 9 so they just, just chef's kiss! Watching tier 1 goblins absolutely dunk on Chaos Champions and Khorne berserkers is hilarious.
The video actually showcasing how bad the bugs are is very vindicating to me. especially AI and pathing behaviour stuff. You see it every campaign you play and it's a big problem

The bomb squids are definitely bugged. There is a quest battle for Tretch craventail where you fight them and they are super Dangerous if they get to exploade on your units. You should report the bug to CA
It might be also a good try to manage your movements/placements of units, if you HOLD Alt and hold swipe the Right mouse button so you can face that Units into a direction. (Not sure, if this mechanic is in this game)
dont worry, you didnt break the rules using those soopa squigs. after all a goblin had to strap the bomb onto the squig in the first place, and also raise it, and also be fed to it.
29:20 to be fair if you ambush them you would be able to do the same because its an ambush they get the drop on you before you can act 45:00 im pretty sure thats what their doing its just the shortest route is based on actual distance so the ladders where the distance is up the wall and straight to the new position is closer than the gate where they would have to move to the gate and then go all the way back to the new position rather than shortest time (going through the owned gate)

The problem with the Squigs and some of the other explosions is that any sort of elevation currently makes the AOE not hit.

The thing about having a powerful goblin army is that it's so cost efficient. You can go ham on infrastructure and save up for some real stuff.

As much as I want to study this video to make my own OP goblins, im realizing that this needs a lot of good micro in manual combats.
