    If you ever make merch it should be a shirt with an empty rectangle that says "Design Space" above it

    Loved using these guys in the tag force games. Their contact fuse ability should of been how neos fused as well

    • @johnlucas2838
      @johnlucas2838 2 года назад

      No, I wish after the card contact fused, after it goes away by its effect it returns Neos back onto the field. So you effectively go -1 into a fusion monster and then that fusion monster goes back to being a normal monster by returning Neos to the field so it doesn't become a -2.

    You occupy a niche within the Yugioh world only focusing on game design which is awesome. You, alongside The Law YGO produce my favourite Yugioh content, both of you have such great delivery of informative topics

    Glad beasts are still probably my favourite archetype, grew up palying them in the tag force games, and i still have a Tri brigade glad beast hybrind in master duel.
    They are the embodiment of ahead of it's time, any monster can turn into any other monster, in a sense, searching/major consistency boost to the deck. And contact fusing is literally what modern extra deck summoning ended up being.
    Even if they've fallen off as the DAD killer as some random casual deck, they'll always be my fav.

    As someone that always heard of them but, having no prior personal expierence with them, building this deck on Duel Links was really cool.

      I remember having a blast with them too when they were meta in duel links. Nowadays I really enjoy playing them in Edison format

    You forgot to mention one HUGE advantagge of Equeste and why it was used even along with Darius: it could recycle your already used War Chariots for even more stun play.
    Really good video btw, and I agree, it was certainly a game changer from the cookie cutter or attribute/type-based formula to archetypes having a different type of synergy. Unfortunately, nowadays it feels like that they are designing closed archetypes instead of open ones, which means they are only held together by the name and they don't even have a unique gimmick anymore.

    I really hated to play against that archetype. It was really annoying since they had an answer to almost anything. They also used Macro Cosmos or Dimensional Fissure to weaken decks that rely on the GY. If they didn't run those, you would see Elemental Hero Prisma from time to time setting up the fusion.
    The new support after the Synchro Era ended never reached the same high. But then again i can't get into modern ygo

      They have some decent modern support: 2 links and vespacius is amazing! The problem I have now is narrowing down which strategy I want to use because there are so many! I love them because of their flexibility.

    What's up with GX archetypes having random vanillas? Six Sams has one. Dark World also has one (two if you count Mad Lobster for Dark World reference in its flavour text). Coincidentally both of them are low level defensive walls.

    • @spyro2002
      @spyro2002 2 года назад +1

      Back then vanillas were still fine for having big stats on a normal summon + interaction with archetypal cards. The six sam normal would give a big wall to set that is likely to survive while setting up the "need another six sam on board" condition of the original six sams. Andal doesn't really have a good excuse for its time though since laquiri was always an available tag out target that hit a higher atk threshold, though given that modern glad beasts decks pretty much completely rely on normal support interactions with Andal t set up link summons it was definitely nice that we got him in retrospect

    destiny heroes, crystal beasts, gravekeepers, volcanics, harpies, pandemonium arcfiends, aliens, six samurais, neo spacians, Ehero Neoses, batterymen, ancient gears, machinas, dark worlds, agents, dragunities, D.Ds, monarchs : ARE WE A JOKE TO YOU ?

    • @necrostatis8397

      At the time they all were Either incomplete engines ,trash,or simply not good enough. Glad had a lot of good meta relevant good cards,right from the start.

    • @riccardoaversa9299
      @riccardoaversa9299 2 года назад

      D heroes had some good cards and where played mostly as an engine in decks like perfect circle or ddt. Crystal beast were terrible when they came out, at least in constructed. Gravekeepers had spy and guard see some play during goat, but necrovalley wasn't nearly as strong as a floodgate as it was when it came out+it lacked the 5ds support which made the deck way better in recruiter and the guy descendant. Archfiend has had some experimentation in moder goat, but it's still a very niece rogue deck. Aliens were not good when they camw out, they were missing some of their best support in the level 1 tuner and really didn't have a consistent gameplan. Volcanics without reload was bad even for the time. Harpies had like 1 good card in hunting ground and, even with a searcher for it, you can't really make a good deck out of it. Neo spacians along with neos were and always have been terrible. Six sam is interesting, it was a decently competent rogue deck after united came out, unfortunately other strategies were just better, including glads after gyzarus, and before that there were strategies running dad and why would anyone run mediocre beaters like most of the main six sams are when you could just play dark goodstuff decks with dad as a payoff? Ehero had a couple of good cards in stratos and e-call, but they don't really become playable as a deck until gemini spark comes out in the synchro era, again they were played as an engine in ddt and perfect circle. Batterymen also had a good payoff in industrial strenght (amazing name btw) but their good support in micro cell and industrial came out in the same set that basically made glads tier 0 thanks to gyzarus. Ancient gears were terrible, at best some anti meta decks played the big dragon and geartown as an engine, but that happens in the synchro era. Machinas come out after glads, along with dragunities and the good agent support. Dark worlds were decent as a payoff, problem is that they were both inconsistent and that they required you to run some pretty mediocre cards like dark world lightning. Monarchs weren't really an archetype, they were more like a series of cards with similar names since, at the time, they didn't really have any cards that mentioned monarchs to tie the together as an archetype. D.Ds saw some experimentation together with macro cosmo, but they had the same problem as monarchs in the fact that they didn't really had any card that mentioned d.d. monsters to really make the an archetype+ warrior lady and survivor were the only monsters played of that series of cards.
