Back with another paludarium build! Going for a different vibe in this one, but I think it's pretty neat. I especially think it looks cool with the mist maker. Other than going slightly higher with the rock work, there's not much I would change if I did it again. What do you think? Let me know and have a great weekend!
Hi Tanner, what a beautiful and fanciful prehistoric looking tropical island scape! I love the hugeness of the tree trunks and the look of the other plants. When you add in the mist, stones and the fish, WOW!! I can imagine these small fish to be large sharks swimming around this extraordinary island group, out in the middle of nowhere, that you only find because a superstorm blew you in there. I absolutely love the look of this Tanner. What a great idea and an outstanding finished product!! You are such an amazing artist, with great vision, and an understanding of how to use a minimal amount of various pieces to produce your vision! BRAVO!!! God bless and thanks again for sharing with us, your viewers.
Love it! This island look is crying out for some crabs, imo. I didn't know you could grow bonsai like this either, so I'll be thinking about the possibilities for sure.
Absolutely epic. Not sure about the floating plants and the mist maker (personally I think it makes it look more mountainous than sea spire-y but still amazing
I’ll be interested to see an update on this one. I’d always been told ginseng ficus liked moist substrate but not standing water. I love how this one looks Tanner!
Standing water is not the same as wet soil. Most plants don't mind their tap roots being in pure water, it's only when you have damp/soaked soil that the rot starts.
@@benjif2424 Interesting. Do u know the reason behind it? I thought that its due to the lack of oxygen that cause the roots to rot - standing water will be the same as wet soil (though in this case, there's a water aerator present)
@@kokunst1634 hmm, i recall that prolong period of vegetable roots being submerged in water on hydroponics setup leads to root rot as well (but typically it will be grown fully and harvested before that happens). Guess different plants react differently. Thanks for explaining!
@@cnaizhen it's because the water in hydroponic slowly get contaminated by organic matters and fertilizer. Moreover they usually aren't well aerated despite always moving, causing toxicity to build up. With well-filtered water and proper aeration, along with healthy bacteria culture and good nitrogen cycle, it should be okay imo.
You are like the Bob Ross of the Build!! Love how you create nature indoors with your landscapes. Creating a natural world for all your inhabitants. BRAVO!!!
One of my fav setups that you've done. Every element is a pet "element" (Bonsai, Dragon-stone). Minimalist but complicated. Inspiring. Great choice of stock as well.
Hey, I have a project idea that I think you might like. I've been getting into growing Carnivorous Plants presently and thought a setup with some smaller Carnivorous Plants would look really cool. Something with Australian pitcher plants and pygmy sundews would allow for a smaller setup. I personally have both and they look amazing. Keep up the awesome work!
As always, a very cool build. Can't wait for the first update, to see how the trees are liking their new home. I wasn't sure at first, but that mist over the water ended up being a favorite feature for me.
This man just single-handedly married two of my favorite hobbies, and he did it WELL. Bravo on another incredible setup! I love how you keep stretching yourself in areas that you may not be comfortable with yet. You're an example to all of us! 🌱
My favorite set ups- fire belly toad Paludarium, bonsai tree island paludarium, sunken ship aquarium, the 600 gallon vivarium ,the temperate forest creek runoff vivarium and the biorb stream water fall terrarium.
I actually have a pretty mature ginseng bonsai just sitting in a pot on my windowsill. Amazing to think I could do something like this with it! Thanks for teaching me something new.
I've never thought about bonsai in riparium setting before, I'm interested to see how they do. Emerald eye rasboras are one of my new favorite fish so it's great to see them in this setup. Great video, Tanner. Take care.
Perfect timing for a video about bonsai trees! I asked for a bonsai tree for christmas, I hope I get one. I haven't watched the video yet but i'm sure it is awesome, watching now!
@@SerpaDesign Thank you! I have watched the video, this is not an alternative way to way to keep them, this is the best way to keep them! 😅 beautiful result!

It would be really cool if you could do something similar with a Banyan tree. You can even do the air roots and everything. They arent hard to do. It would be beautiful!
This is the exact setup I asked for, a couple of months ago, and you did it! (not necessarily that you saw the comment or anything like that, but still) The only thing I would change, is to use neon tetras, but only because they are my favourites 😀 So awesome, it looks fantastic and you got my inspired to actually try this myself now. Thank you!
thank You, Thank You, ThAnK YoU, THANK YOU for recording how to make these, I plan on making a few of these for my home- I’ve been wanting to do something more than just having various plants throughout my home; I looooove anything that looks like it’s on a miniature scale but has natural elements like plants & I really appreciate that you show how and what to do to keep the plants healthy & what complementary living beings should be added to your gorgeous creations, that are beneficial for the mini-environments you designed.
You have inspired me so much, because of you I have made 35 terrariums for my loved ones for Christmas and it has helped to pull me out of my funk, thank you so much for what you do!!
Absolutely gorgeous! I love the chunky roots and the bold underwater scaping. The atomizer spilling over the front of the tank is a really cool bonus I didn't expect!
Just wow! That is such a unique design, I didn’t know that bonsai trees came like those. Incredible, I can’t wait to see what it looks like in 6-12 months!
Hi Tanner I especially love this setup! I've always enjoyed Ficus plants and especially bonsai. Plus, I really like the contrast between the whites sand and the rocks. Gorgeous! Thank you for sharing.
This paludarium is just beautiful! The mist maker just works for this setup. Like it needs to be there. I love Beta’s and have been contemplating getting another one. Seeing this has inspired me to try and something like this for them! Thank you! ❤️
I'm like 'I don't know that one' then I saw the date and I screamed 'It's Saturday!!!!!' Tanner, I don't know why I'm so enthralled again right now. And I'm getting into bonsai too so this is one I will be watching over and over!!!!!
I really appreciate how you label everything you use; I want to do a project like this in the upcoming months as a gift (on a much smaller scale) and your videos are really helping set me up for success!
Looks awesome! For the fish I was initially thinking chili rasboras and clown killies for their size and colors, but this is perfect. They look like little tarpons and so match the scale!
I will probably do something similar with ginseng bonsai in the near future. Had it last year in my living room as a plant and it died on me. I have another one planted in my garden and it grows like crazy with all the temperature swings, wind, rain...Apparently it is delicate plant but I am still trying to master it before putting it into the aquarium.
I’ve actually been wondering when Tanner might make a Bonsai setup! This is more spectacular than I could ever come up with, he always does such a great job!! 👏

Those massive roots can actually be carved pretty easily compared to some other bonsai species. A lot of folks make some super interesting specimins out of those. Great job! Would love to see this style for mangroves! I have had issues having success with them and consider myself to have a bit of a green thumb. Would love to see your take!
Very cool idea! I love Emerald Eye Raspboras they school very well, are tolerant of other species and have great coloring on the eyes. Perfect for a smaller aquarium that want to keep a sense of scale
