Hey LG, further to this video, what is the real benefit of a Sponsors logo being on the car considering it costs so much?
Does a company logo on a car equate to direct revenue by people buying more LG products? or is it more of a brand presence thing?
@Dyl3mma That's a good question and the answers are as varied as the day is long. For us, it was a partnership that began with Harvey Norman (who sell our products of course) to support the first female full time driver, being Simona De Silvestro. Many sponsorship activities are co-branded this way. Red Bull and Ampol being one such example, considering the beverage is sold inside their petrol stations. That opens the door for a myriad of marketing opportunities - in-store / online / etc, to support the sponsorship, so it ceases being just a sticker on a race car, and is an always active Awareness value piece, to keep the products top of mind (not necessarily products sold).
A lot are driven simply by big ego's and bigger wallets, others are from well-off supporters who want to support Australian motorsport, and might enjoy the perks that come with being a sponsor - such as ride days and corporate / team-building events, despite any tangible return on investment. Many sponsors are from within the automotive / trade industry sector and appeal to their target audience directly where no other avenue exists to reach that same audience for the equivalent investment. Every sponsor's metric of success is different, some are realised tenfold and others may indeed have no tangible return.
As the old saying goes, the best way to make a small fortune in motorsport is to start with a large fortune.

I’ll definitely have to agree with Larko for my favourite livery. The simple design with subtle patterns and striking colours make it very attractive to the eyes.

Most livery knows are Red Bull and Monster Energy, some fuel and lubricant sponsorship I know is Shell V-Power Racing and Castrol Edge.

We've designed some epic virtual V8 ones... But never had a shot at the IRL ones... Would absolutely love to though!
Larco’s the best, forget the rest. The Red Bull cars stand out for me and I am a Ford fan.
All modern liveries, besides perhaps DJR are complete rubbish. Back in the 80's and 90s, you could instantly tell what car it was. The all blue "Peter Jackson" GSR cars, the all red "Shell" DJR sierras, the all yellow "Benson and Hedges" BMW/Sierra, The white Mobil Brock commodore (and the best ever motorsport colour scheme, Marlboro anything) etc. the was one CLEAR major spensor, so its a mish mash of many sponsors, crazy graphic art that just looks like a mess.
Other honerable mentions, Larry Perkins Castrol Commodores, Winfield racing Commodores and GT-Rs, JPS BMW.
Probably the best of the modern stuff was the Pepsi Max falcons, however, the effect was ruined by the Castrol green. My other fav was the Jack Daniels Commodores.
The current DJR shell cars are the only ones that look close.
The "Less is More" principle just works.
I'm totally with you on this. Even the retro liveries that the V8's use at Sandown look good but today's liveries like you said are hard to distinguish who is who. On top of that the cars don't have the numbers on the front doors either which I think is a shame.

Which teams wrap and which teams paint their paint schemes?
@Ronnie Southwell Yeah all wrapped. Cars are either painted 1 of 3 colours underneath - white, black, or grey, and then wrapped over. And most of those under colours are just primer sealers or mould top colours from the carbon bits, not even technically paint itself if you were to get technical. You only need a flat, smooth surface to wrap, so it doesn't have to be a painted surface. So long as it's sealed from the elements (if steel). Most cars use alloy and carbon panels so whatever finish they have on them from production, as long as it's smooth and flat you can wrap straight over it.

the liveries are so jumbled they act like camouflage and its hard to determine which cars are which in terms of the fake body shapes. At least the arrival of the Mustang meant some cars had a distinctive look. Hard to get excited about the Supertaxis these days , happy that others enjoy it though.
