Tom bringing up the Seksy Rocks as a direct competitor to Jacob and Co is just perfect. I can totally see a CEO running a company meeting wearing a J&Co Billionaire right next to a group of interns making fun of him by wearing some Seksy Rocks.
It's 39.9mm but it wears more like a 40mm. 😂 Tom always makes me giggle
For the Dufour Simplicity, I match it with the Luch single-hander. It doesn't get much simplier than an hour only timepiece and only $90 on Amazon. 😊
And for the Devon, I submit the Casio Royale, $21 on Amazon.
Tom crushed it with the Seksy.
Update: Based on Tom's review, I bought a Seksy as a birthday present for my sister. Something to class her up.
Luch is hidden gem. They have great dress watches for €31. Looks like Hamilton Boulton.
As a proud owner of that exact Snoopy watch, I can vouch that there's no better option to wear to a weekend afternoon baseball game.
Another great podcast episode. Really love this format. Thank you for making it longer this time.
You two are on fire. This particular formate is entertainment gold! Watches with a genuine sence of humor. Please do keep the budget end content in the mix coming.
The Seiko SNSX79 hasn't been available for less than $100 for a loooooong time now.
if you got 100 dollars just buy a casio
God Tier!
Yes
Had mine for 10 years now, never changed the battery
Or Timex
You can get much more than that
i love how you both approached this in complete different ways
You should do this like under 1000. That would make it a bit more interesting I think
I don't even think they need to go all the way to $1000. I think they need to raise the price enough to start getting some of the wacky microbrands involved, though. The super low cap was entertaining and required creativity (or cheating), but I agree that it kind of ruled out a little too much. I was a little surprised that none of the bonkers Chinese/AliExpress watches made it on this list, too.
I'm thinking maybe $500? $300?
For the Devon Tread: the clear Casio G-Shock would have been closer, in my opinion. Bold, large, mechanical-ish, see through, yet digital.
Fully agree! It was such an obvious call I actually shouted out loud when neith one picked it.
This is the correct answer
I didn't know if the transparent G Shocks came in on price. This is the * cough * clearly the best pick.
@@anthonykent00 might be a few extra pounds/dollars but if they're allowed go a thousand I think we're allowed to go to 200 lol.
Not at all mechanical
I love the Charlie Brown watch so much I’m buying one. It’s the perfect antidote to a 10 year wait for a Panda Daytona.
How long is the wait for the Charlie Brown?
cant' find a single seiko 5 SNXS77 for under 100€ :/
The $18mill watch would be completely out classed by the Snoopy watch with the crystal studded Seksy band!
So basically Tom is bringing Seksy back. 😁😂
If you got $100 go buy multiple lottery tickets then win about a tenner, and then buy a $8.49 casio.
That Resevoir looks great with that jumping hour.
This was a great video. Down to earth, informative, comedic. Keep it going!
That Peanut watch is awesome. I'll totally rock that.
Always enjoyable to listen to you guys. Keep up the good clean humor. Thanks
Been on the waiting list for a Timex Snoopy longer than for my Rolex! Impossible to get.
I wasn't allowed to have an F-91W when I was a kid, my parents claimed it was cheap rubbish and would never last, my father also claimed that digital was just a ridiculous fad that would disappear soon (he didn't think computers would be here to stay as well).
I'm very jealous of everyone who had one.
Damn that Jacob & Co is ugly!
Get a citizen eco drive. That watch can run perpetually as long as the sun exists.
It's snoopy all day long for me! Really enjoyed this one. Smiles all round.
I have been enjoying the podcast very much.
Seagull Glamour Master ST2528, a Shimano Altus rear derailleur, and a clear Casioak. Over budget by a couple hundred but those are my 3.
Andrew got me with the Peanuts watch! LOLOL!
Hahaha love this episode! "Join the wait list!?"
Hilarious video, and great presentation as ever!! Personally, I think all CIA, MI6 and KGB agents ought to be issued with the snoopy watch as a standard issue!!! The peanuts watch be reserved for double agents only!!
Seiko 5, Casio, Timex. Andrew wins it for me.
Tom is clearly the winner here
That seiko is gorgeous
I’m happy with my Casioak-GA2100-1A1, did some subtle mods ( put some Glow-in-the-dark paint on indices and hand tips, works great) and it’s daily wear.
1. Timex Easy Reader in gold tone. 2. Casio Calculator Watch. 3. Invicta Subaqua Aqua Plating (pick the one you "like" best).
Rounds 1 + 2 go to Andrew for staying on brief.
Round 3 to Tom. Great pick.
Lol Tom sounds so done with Andrew! 🤣
I'm sorry but you had me at Charlie Brown.
For the Devon. A negative display gshock would be my pick. It has "similar" aesthetic in a way, has that cool factor and relatively affordable.
My vote has to go to Tom, at least on #1 and #3. The Seiko is really gorgeous (and looks a lot like the Philippe DuFour) and the Sekonda is elegant and suitably bling-y. I might grudgingly give Andrew #2, because the Reservoir, though a much more interesting watch, blows just too big a hole in the budget.
The Dufour and the Seiko Presage are beautiful and elegant. The rest, you can keep.
All of Tom's choices were better! Keep up the great work fellas.
The seiko 5 isn't even similar to the Phillip, i own one and it isn't that simple with lume filled indexes and a complex case design with bracelet. It isn't even a proper dress watch yet alone a simple one. I'm kind of surprised with that choice
Great one, definitely inspired by the early TopGear consumer advice... :)
I can tell the difference. One has far too many zero's attached to the price tag.
Awesome ..i totally enjoyed it
Wearing my f91 while watching this, already have a Seiko 5, the snoopy timex was the only watch I wanted out of all (of the ones I don't already have)
Nice episode
39.9mm is going to wear like a 40mm.
You dont say!
This kind of insight is why we listen to the pros.
@@jpdemer5 impressive vision and intelligence....on par with recent presidents for sure.
I thought that the Seiko presage SJE079 shippo enamel watch would be a good office worker version of a Philippe Dufour simplicity watch.
Would love a comparison between an Arita porcelain dial Seiko and a much more expensive dress watch (maybe a breguet or glashutte)
The seksy is inspired. The Charlie Brown is superb. You two are the most professional clowns I’ve come across
This series is seriously funny! I'd love it as a weekly or biweekly feature
I love these vids! My picks would be the Porcelain Seiko (sorry Andrew), the Casio and the Timex.
So on average, Andrew wins! Surely the best kind of winning.
I enjoyed this!
Can U make indeep video about sea gull 1946..? Because so many small brands that using sea gull movement.. for cheap guy like me, I'll go with casio for quartz and for automatic we have Seiko but their model so boring lately(IMO).. if you looking at sugess moonphase watches line up which is using sea-gull movement, it is a good looking watch and worth the money.. but is it good? I mean...
Differences are enormous. In price.
I like that You both went for Seikos for the Philippe Dufour. All in all I would say: Go vintage and You find stunning stuff for way under 100,- $, that looks like a million.
3rd replacement Invicta Angel Women's Watch w/Mother of Pearl Dial - 40mm, Steel (ZG-19873)
Tom deserves his own show! GO TOM!
For the Devon tread I would get a vintage jump hour watch and then take off the dial. It would look really industrial that way.
Vintage jump hour watches are less that £100 as well!
About the Devon, I would've gone for one of "The Electricians" watches. They are purely industrial models with nice features and a very very good looking dials. Take the Steel Z model or the newer electro/mechanical lineup. They surely fits the bill.
awesome lads! this is hilarious 😂
My vote goes to Andrew on this one. I’d go a swatch up front maybe the just white or the pinkbaya to capture the simplicity, thinking dw gshock next for much the same logic as the f91w, and a tacky $20 zirconia covered watch from Amazon last.
1:25
Andrew: The first watch I picked out for you today Tom is perhaps one of the greatest watches ever.
Tom: Right...
🤣
Sorry Andrew, but Tom won with the Sekonda Seksy Rocks for the sheer fact that it costs £69
#1 - Timex Easy Reader @ $37
#2 - Casio World Timer @ $24
#3 - Seiko Essential SS @ $163
Even if the J&co is not a watch, but a bracelet with a watch movement in it (to kick it out of this competition), I'd go for the Snoopy!
As far as the first two, since there was no rule on movement type, I'd pick a $49 Timex Easy reader (also available in gold!!), and a Qlocktwo W35 black dial...I think that with this last one I"d win over both of you guys ;)
I bought that seiko 5 after seeing it on here. Its my first mechanical watch to test the waters. Its very nice. It was £130 though. Not less that $100
Great video as always, but a $100 budget keeps this from being as interesting as it could be, $1000 would probably work better
I think $1000 is a bit much for a cheap watch, I think $500 is more reasonable, you can still get a lot of good watches at that price
F-91W God tier for $20👍
I just picked up the Seiko tank homage for 99$. The quartz 2 hand model not the solar version. Can't argue with that for 100 bucks
For the Jacob & Co alternative, I'd go with the Casio GA-2100SRS-7A (clear resin strap and case with rainbow crystal). It's a tad over $100 but the colors are more bling than all the J&Co diamonds combined. Plus: you'll never have to wind it! Let's see the $18M watch top that 😅
That's an awesome take
I haven seen the Charlie Brown watch in a board room fyi ;)
Dig the Hydrosphere, and even that supertacky Jacob&Co 🚀
Great to listen to as always. Just commenting to help out.
My picks are #1 either a Baltany dress watch like the S4039 or a Citizen BM-8240. #2 the diesel dz1962. #3 The Cadisen C8097 (Slightly out of budget but it's got a real diamong at 12 for $130 if you believe the listings. Shop sales to get it closer to 100).
Brilliant!
"Pause the tape..."
Everyone 20 years old or younger. "What?"
American discounters like Jomashop will sell you a Certina with a 10-second-per-year quartz movement for $200 or less or slightly more. Probably all discontinued models but with ETA PreciDrive movements.
You might not strictly get it under 100 but the Orient Maestro would've been a decent cheapo version of the Philippe Dufour.
As for the Devon, I would've opted for the original Casioak, the GA-2100.
The last one, honestly I don't know. Probably a really chap and nasty Invicta.
Not a fan of timex but that snoppy weekender is so good
Tom won again! Picking Seksy as best substitute for J&Co is spot on!!
this was so much fun.
because of you though, and don't ask me how, I found a fascinating mechanical skeleton in a diver case for under 100€ :o :D
The Philippe Dufour has an identical watch from Seiko SRK049P1 😅
I would go for an Orient Bambino Small Seconds as an alternative to the Philippe Dufour
My thought too. A little too "expensive" though. 😄
Timex Peanuts - brilliant Andrew, totally brilliant!
I am always Team Tom, but Andrew won this one by a considerable margin. Good one Andrew!
Longines Presence 38.5 with sector dial is almost identical
I was hoping Tom's alternative for the Jacob & Co would be a Richard Mille
I didn’t like any of the really expensive watches, I loved that sekio .
I wonder where you could buy SNXS79 under 100$ (or even under 150$) ?!
1. I would take the Rotary Canterbury (aka Sherlock Holmes) for the PD one. I have and love the SNXS79 but in no way it's an alternative PD.
2. Square G-Shock
3. Any cheap super bling fashion watch from the mall.
Proud owner of snxs79. It's a masterpiece. However, i have always found it over $150.
Please more!
Hallo
I prefer AP or Casio...Tell me what to do!
Liebe Grüße
Kaiser
I'm actually really tempted to buy the Charlie Brown...
Love this Snoopy Timex
Still Tom as the winner although Seksy and Charlie Brown was a difficult choice. Please do this again, lots of fun watching.
The obvious alternative to that Jacob diamond monstrosity, is of course a Swatch. Cheap yet chick 🐣
Perhaps a Seksy Snoopy covered in crystals....?
The The Seiko SARX029 Urushi dial or the SARX061 would be great reasonably priced alternatives, nicer cases and roman numerals. For the Devon it would be the SevenFriday watch company for the industrial design. As for the Seky and Timex I can't compete just hilarious 😂 😂.
I have the Invicta with Micke Mouse giving the time and I love it.
