Why do you feel you have failed? You married the man you loved, and had 2 beautiful boys. Yes it is true that you were not able to continue the relationship as a married couple, but you are doing your best to continue the relationship as friends and parents. Not many people can say that.you are a beautiful, intelligent woman, funny, and obviously with a kind heart. The relationship evolved to something different, and you guys were smart to change the relationship you had to a different one that would work with the emotional transition you were both experiencing.

You are an extremely accomplished woman but obviously you think being divorced is a shameful thing. Those of us out here men and women that I've been divorced know yu don't divorce on a whim. I think the majority of us thought long and hard about it.
And I'm sure some had to escape from it. Whatever your reason was that's your business and no one else's even the families don't have a right to be negative about it.
I'm a female and a senior n divorced for many years. All my siblings are still married so I can understand that part of that. I would have loved to have had your academic background. An accomplished actress as well. I like your last program Kat and was disappointed when higher-ups decided to cancel it. You're doing well on Jeopardy and I'm sure you have other irons in the fire. You have beautiful children, a great career and I'm sure tons of friends and all your fans. We loved you on Big Bang you carried that role perfectly. I did not know you had any RUclips channel. I think the dress was one of those things that truly shone on the Shamy pairing, because when she was so uncertain and everyone hated the dress came Sheldon with the same taste, mirroring a lot of things that was so uniquely theirs.

It was a totally Amy dress. I'm sure she dreamed of a southern belle dress like Gone with the Wind and that's what she found. She loved it, Sheldon loved it and that's all that mattered. You didn't fail at marriage! You had the courage to fall in love and then you learned that love isn't always enough to keep people together. Lesson learned and if you marry or don't marry, it doesn't change the core of you, an amazing, inspiring person. You just keep being you and you'll be great!

Amy's wedding dress is absolutely DREADFUL in my opinion but Penny said it best when she said it wasn't about what she felt but what AMY felt...Amy loves the dress and feels beautiful/happy in it...and as it turns out Sheldon thinks she looks beautiful in it too. Win-win for THEM and the opinions/feelings of the rest of us don't matter. For me this episode was the sweetest in a long time. Sheldon's expressions of his feelings for Amy were SOOOOO touching. Loved it

I got to say I did not like Amy's final choice of wedding gowns. I actually thought she was kind of excited about how she looked in the first choice so when she came out with that floofy choice {sans shepherd's staff} I was kind of surprised that's the one she loved. But when I saw Sheldon's reaction saying how beautiful she looked how he couldn't wait to marry her I thought it was the perfect dress and I actually started bawling so screw what everyone else thinks Amy loves it, Sheldon loves her in it so that has to be the 👗 dress!

Your wedding dress couldn't be more beautiful! I mean yours, not Amy's!! Let me tell you, no one will pity you! You are perfect just where ever you are at this point! But Amy's dress!! Oh, my goodness!! Perfect! And when Bernadette said "where have you been keeping that waist", I thought I would die! You are absolutely gorgeous and we forget that when you are in Amy's clothes! I can't wait for the wedding. As Amy says, "It's been eight LONG years!!"
I loved Amy's wedding dress! It was hilarious and showed the bride's personality. Amy felt herself like a princess in the dress and that is the most important. And Mayim's wedding dress was also fit for her perfectly.
This video is 2 years old, though I want to comment it. When I watched this episode I was just wondering about why Penny and Bernadette disliked Amy's dress. I know it's not that traditional and definetely not everyone's taste but I reaaaally loved the dress. And I daresay I have a good taste because I studied fashion design and am now becoming a costume designer. But I think we all can agree that this dress fits Amy perfectly. The dress seems a little bit like coming from the middle or late 19th century but it's also modern, it's overloaded with lace and embroideries like Amy's character is overloaded with a lot of fun, love and also pity. And there is a word in german but I don't know if there is a similar word in english which is "bieder" and it's often something bad but I think it's absolutely loveable in Amy. Thank you Mayim for giving this character so much life and I am sure you will find accomplished happiness with or without another wedding dress on your body :)

I feel like "I don't know" is a completely acceptable answer to the will you get married again question. While most of my divorced friends say they'll never get married again, some have found a partner who makes them question whether or not they want to get married, and some have remarried. "I don't know" is really the only answer anyone should ever have to this question. Not only does it give people an answer, but it's not lying to people or to ones self. You may live your life as a single person and be completely fine with that, and that's okay. You may find someone you want to spend your life with and you two might get married, but there is nothing that says you have to. Marriage is just a commitment between two people to take care of each other and be there through all the ups and downs; agreeing to do that legally with a contract isn't for everyone. The point is, life is unpredictable and full of chaos. Not knowing the answer to these types of questions shouldn't mean someone is going to die alone and eaten by their 34 cats.
Ok can I have an unpopular opinion? I honestly love Penny & Bernadette, they were looking out for her & didn’t want her to be hurt on her wedding day. They didn’t want her to look back regret her choice or be judged by others. And I understand it’s her day but they were just looking out for a friend. Please don’t hate me but if I was her friend I’d do the same thing, but ultimately it’s her choice & she can do what she wants

That dress was the definition of awfulness. That was so horrific that even choosing that make us (as audiences) laugh . of course I would tell my bestie that this dress looks horrible and I want my bestie to do the same for me.
Good point, there. I agree with you. Although it seems that at this point the people who genuinely know them, for who they are, would probably not be the ones to make such judgmental remarks about their choices. It seems that Sheldon and Amy are two that dance to their own tunes... so if I was a guest at their wedding, I would see past their oddities and straight into their unique hearts. Most of us there would probably smile at them knowing they are just such different souls. I think even Penny and Bernadette see them thru that lens most of the time. But, you do make a good point that their motivation was pure and it was to protect Amy from ridicule.

I have to say I LOVED the dress that Amy got married in!! When I was looking for my wedding dress, I had found a vintage style, Spanish inspired gown that was soooooo me, but sooooo outside my budget. 17 yrs later, Amy gets married in a vintage inspired gown that brought back sweet memories!

The 2nd dress you tried on was stunning and you looked amazing. But only you could pull off the final dress. And you did it so well. But, my favorite moment in the show was Sheldon's reaction when he opened the door. Jim did such an amazing job with that moment. I was truly taken with his reaction. SO GOOD!!

Avalorne sometimes even with the beat of intentions it is the responsible and adult choice to divorce. Divorce isn’t happy but it can be worse to learn to hate and resent your spouse because you HAVE to remain married and teach your children that marriage is supposed to be ugly, painful, lonely and a burden. Divorce for that reason is not always a failure. Messy name calling bickering hateful divorce dragging family and children through fighting and hell is a failure.

I loved the fact that when Amy found HER DRESS she knew instantly that “that was her dress” and when Sheldon saw it he thought she looked amazing and beautiful!!!! And I believe in my heart of hearts it was because she felt amazing and beautiful.
Sheldon's reaction when he comes in the door to tell Amy his big idea is one of my favorite Sheldon moments. I love TBBT and I've seen every episode many many times but when he opens that door and his eyes get all wide, he forgets what he was gonna say and is just like "Wow, you look amazing" I love him like that bc he doesn't show how much he loves her very often but when he does it's like an accident
Thank you for sharing your feelings so eloquently. I actually see you as a role-model for us women who are also divorced and living an 'unconventional' or 'non-traditional' life. And it's one of the reasons I'm a huge fan! I'm divorced, 40, a bit of a nerd, don't have a conventional career and chose to be child free. We need more role models out there for alternative ways of living, so thank you for putting yourself out there. And meanwhile, we can live vicariously through Amy.
Amy had always wanted to be a princess. I think her choice was perfect for her, and obviously for Sheldon. I don't care for the dress, personally, but I think it was the perfect choice for Princess Amy! She feels beautiful in it, therefore she looks beautiful in it! 💖
I thought it was one of the most powerful Amy moments in the show. I loved how she found the one dress that she liked and also how much Seldon appreciated her.

I know Amy's dress is very unpopular and I understand that opinion but I think it's perfect for Amy and she looks pretty in it. If she wants it then she should have it because it's her perfect dress and no one should be prevented from having that if they want it.

I could not close my mouth when I saw Amy's dress, I was so surprised. I loved that she loved it, it would not have been the dress I would have chosen however it had the perfect amount of poof.
Also, I wanna say, if my future husband doesn't have Sheldon's reaction when he sees me in my wedding dress I will be super disappointed. I replayed that scene about 15 times, it was the CUTEST THING EVER!!!

Like all self centered, delusional Liberals, she has some serious, real world problems coming down the pike with her kids because of the divorce and what does she choose to focus on?... Being in the limelight, (being the focus of attention), and making sure her fans know exactly how much she hates Trump! at first i wasn't really into the dress that she picked, but after looking at it a couple times, i'm starting to like it. i think it was kinda big and puffy for my taste, but the details were very elegant and i love lace dresses so, that's why! i love the first two, especially the second one, maybe it's because it's very new and we haven't really seen you wear things like that and i think the last dress was really the one, it brings out Amy's personality more than the other two that she tried on! Another great video Mayim, it's worth the wait!!! (and the thumbnail tho. ❤)

Forget the dress! I think it’s a pity that you (Mayim) feel that you “fail” because you are now divorce. I am also divorced but feel that far from a failure, it was an experience from which I learned a lot. It help me grow as a person and mature also. Your divorce and your whole married like experience just like mine, has help you become the person you are now and you should be very proud of that. I’m sure he made mistakes too and was not perfect! Wear that badge with pride girl as it has made you a better, stronger person and has left you two beautiful kids. All part of the learning curve babe. 😊

Wow. This is my first time visiting your official page, and it’s the first video I picked (as a single person who has never even wanted to try on a wedding dress…I chose it out of morbid curiosity). The way you describe the anxiety of having to try them on (even separating yourself as an actress doing your part for the show) is so relatable! There’s still a lot of pressure put on women about weddings, dresses, and weighty traditions. You’ve really explained the ambivalence associated with all of this well. I've been married 3 times, never had a real traditional dress. The last time, as my father said " it took". I wore a burgundy Irish renaissance dress.
That dress was so Amy. Like if you go back to Amy’s reaction to the tiara it makes perfect sense that Amy would want to look like a giant cupcake princess on the day she got married.

Hello my lovely TBBT guys, I am a big fan of all of you. I had never watched a single episode of TBBT when it was on air. I had heard a lot about TBBT from my friends though. In the current time of covid19 and lockdown, I have made binge watching my way of killing time. I came across TBBT on Prime videos, I thought of giving it a shot since I have heard so much about the show.
Since the very first episode I found the show very attractive. I became so fond of the show that I started watching it for more than 12 hours per day. For the last one month I have spent most of my life with TBBT/ you guys.
I got so attached that your life in the show became my life in real. There was your group doing all the stuff in the show and there was me with everyone of you watching all that you did.
Leonard, Sheldon, Howard, Raj, Penny, Amy, Bernadette, Stuart and all the other lovely people who became a part of TBBT, I have literally lived each moment with you which you created in the show.
Normally a show entertains us, but TBBT was not just a show. It was the lives of real people who weren't simple people but had to face problems which a common person feels in his/her life. From Leonard and Sheldon becoming friends with Penny to Howard finding Bernadette and going to space and Raj having the cutest of the problems ever, I have enjoyed everything about your lives.
This beautiful journey finally came to an end after the 24th episode of season 12. When I had started watching the show, I thought it would be a good idea watching a show with so many seasons. You know, more episodes means I could watch it for a longer time and enjoy for a longer time. But TBBT involved me so much that this beautiful journey of 12 years came to end in just a month for me.
Honestly speaking I am devastated right now. It feels like I had a really beautiful family of mine which has gone missing suddenly. I can't see Sheldon's innocent annoyance, Leonard's cuteness, Penny's coolness, Howard's funny nature, Raj's innocent lovely boy acting, Bernadette's cute anger and little girl-like behavior, Amy's self consciousness and Stuart's confused nature everytime. I can't see any of these now. My friends aren't there at their usual places now.
I am writing this letter to send my love to my gone friends. I really wish you guys read this. You guys mean a lot to me.
TBBT has really been a beautiful show and it's end was the most beautiful one.
The last scene of Sheldon's speech, then you guys getting back to the apartment 4A, sitting around the coffee table having dinner and then the song starts playing, - rolling in front of my eyes past three days. I saw your rehearsal for that scene backstage on RUclips and how you all got emotional when the song played. I am unable to stop tears rolling down my eyes since that scene. Each tear of mine has beautiful memories of you guys. The last scene was really beautiful.
Literally my world has fallen down by not seeing you guys anymore.
I understand you have given 12 beautiful years of your lives to this show. And everything has to come at an end at the correct time. And you guys have a lot more things to do further in your lives.
You guys are really the most lovely and beautiful people I have met through a sitcom.
I don't know how to control my emotions right now. It will take a couple of weeks of maybe more for me to overcome the sorrow of not seeing my lovely friends together anymore.
I love you all, Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, Howard, Penny, Bernadette, Amy, Stuat. I really love you. Thanks for creating such a beautiful show and giving me and millions like me so much happiness.

I loved Amy’s dress so much! It wasn’t my style, but it felt so appropriate for the character, it was magical! It literally brought tears to my eyes! You could feel the joy in Amy, how you played her. And given your complicated feelings about traditional wedding dresses, it shows how talented you are as an actress to have played that scene so well!

I had the same first reaction to the chosen dress as Penny. However, I thought it interesting that male writers addressed whether best friends should really share their opinions of the dress with the bride. Amy, however, loved it and Sheldon’s reaction was shockingly perfect.
I was surprised to see you trying on sleeveless dresses with your modesty rules. I recall you had them make a jacket for the prom dress because you don’t want to show your shoulders.
What limits did your modesty rules place on the wardrobe department? Also, I know Amy always wears skirts as do you, I believe. If they had her in pants, would you wear pants as Amy?
How do you feel about playing a character that isn't Jewish but is on a show that has played into Jewish stereotypes with only two characters (Howard and his mother)? I love Big Bang Theory, but the early seasons played into so many stereotypes and some of them haven't been addressed.

Oh come on! This is a sitcom! Many situations are funny because they turn up the stereotypes to the max. If you want an in depth and true to life representation of a group of people then go watch a drama.
Stereotypes are part of the world, I am from Ireland so everyone thinks I like Drinking and fighting. (Although I do like a Pint or two! and I am a British Army Veteran)

I always cheer Amy and Sheldon team. Do what ever make you feel happy. Always trying to make everyone else happy is a challenge but it not worth losing who you really are. You can't not please everyone and that's OK. Make you happy and people would love to be around you. Married,not, or happen to get remarried should be on you if it makes you happy. Take it from me. I was that person before and I was stressed, depressed, sad, mad and everything else. Wasn't a happy life. Enjoy the life most people may never get the chance to live.

I married my high school sweetheart, that was a total of 20 yrs out of my life, when it went up n flames it really hurt. Marriage #2 much better second time around. never had a traditional expensive wedding in either case and thats fine with me.
I loved the reaction that Sheldon gave when he saw Amy in that dress. However, I really thought for a split second that the writers of the show would put her in an extremely gorgeous gown and make Amy look stunning. She's always portrayed as an awkward frumpy girl and that upsets me cause you're so gorgeous in real. I just thought for one episode she could blow people's mind by being sexy and show that educated smart women scientist can be sexy too...

Sexuality involves way more than a conventional definition of attractiveness. How many people stay attracted to a man or a woman who looks like a model and treats everyone around them like dirt? Being true to yourself is sexier than posing as someone you’re not. Even for only one day. Too many people are more preoccupied with how they look than with doing what they love, and loving who they love, and loving who they are, quirks and shortcomings as well as all their good qualities. Self-acceptance has its own charms.
Nanette Benson I completely agree! Sexy is a way too loose definition. And Sheldon loves Amy for being Amy. However my point was that in this show she's the frumpy weirdo who idealised penny. And always mentioned how beautiful and sexy penny is. So from that viewpoint the writers differentiated that penny is sexy and beautiful and Amy isn't. I thought it would be cool to show Amy in that light too because she is sexy!!
I don't know... The point was that she was going for a dress she liked and others did not get except Sheldon. That just shows how great they are for each other. I think that was what the producers were going for and they nail it.
Please don't consider yourself a failure because your marriage didn't work out Mayim. Marriages fail for a variety of reasons. Speaking as a divorced woman as well, I never thought myself a failure. The experience just made me stronger.

Your videos make my mind crazy. My mind goes through hundreds of scenarios like yours. These are things people generally don’t put sound to. To hear them spoken is strange. Then it make sense when I remember hearing as a child in Cleveland “Jewish Mother’s guilt”. My aunt was Jewish by birth but raised catholic but Jewish by her actions. All her emotions and thought came out loudly “you’re trying to kill your mother”! I love that people get to hear the internal struggles of a divorced mother. Add to that, you are a Jewish mother trying to raise your boys in the Jewish tradition. From seeing you trying to not cry when talking about your sons bar mitzvah to how proud you are of him, you are killing it! I love to watch these videos.
Mayim, it touches my heart so deeply when you speak about divorce. As someone who was married in a very brief, very turbulent union, that ultimately ended in divorce, I have so many complex feelings about my marriage, my ex, and myself. I say this as someone who is now in a serious relationship with an amazing man. Those feelings never seem to go away though, and I'm learning it is okay. My husband and I watched the episode and my first thought was not everyone is to close the traditional dresses. My thought was the dress Amy selected made her feel beautiful and depictedwho she is. I was very happy with Sheldon's reaction and validated what I first thought. She or you looked beautiful in all the dresses but T the end I thought I'm glad the show didn't with the other dresses.

Oh, Mayim, thank you! I know this is an older video but I so appreciate hearing that someone else shares my feelings about wedding dresses. We all love Amy and her joy at being a bride. It's a pay off to see her feeling so pretty in that huge Scarlett O'Hara dress. But she's a fictional character (okay, okay I know when you put those dresses on you have a little fairy dust moment and I can cope with that). Real life is so much more complex and messy. I don't know if that's good or bad.
I couldn't see spending a mortgage payment on a one time dress myself. I was also divorced and over 50. Talk about an no, no, nooo moment at the thought of fittings. We got married in Levis in Bisbee, Arizona. At the Copper Queen Hotel second floor sitting room. The absolute high point was some poor man rolling his luggage right through the ceremony and mumbling "oh sh*t, sorry, sorry". We lost it laughing and had to start over.
I have to tell you I live my life by two mantras right now. 1. It will happen if it happens. Worry about it then. 2. In every situation in my life I did the best I knew at that moment. Well, there's a third one that's been invaluable but it doesn't really apply here. I love it anyway. 3. Sometimes it just isn't about you.
You did your absolute best at the time. You'll have a new baseline every day of your life as your experiences change. I love the dress you wore for your wedding. It was perfect for you. I bought a dress I loved by a designer that does cotillion dresses (which often look like wedding dresses but for a fraction of the price) off eBay for $120 and have zero regrets. It was perfect, got through the day, and no one could tell I had spent so little, or even never walked into a bridal shop. Much appreciation, keep rockin'
