I'm be the first my time 3:34pm NYC oh oh__________ even thou the sun out uh yeah I will not sleep in my own apt tonight!! NOPE!! Damn excellent movie but uh I'm scared 😨 azz hell 😳 thank you NYC showing ❤🌹🌹
Cool Fantastic thank you for the links also on my mom side we are Cherokee. So this does resonate with me. Thank you again so much.
Can you translate the videos into Arabic?
Do the wendigo next!
Excellent effort gave me the chills bravo and carry on.
Moral: people who walk upside down on all fours are not your friends.
Heh, heh...no woof!
Australia is officially declared an enemy
I needed this comment so bad right now...thank you!
First time?
but why?
this is just one isolated incident. they're pretty harmless. once in a while
but I honestly think my favourite line of the whole movie was at the beginning "No. But it's important we share our stories. Because in the end. It's all we are" The connection between him and his kids..that right there. Best.
yeah really. My sister told me this thing 4 years ago " In the end, we all become stories". It's very very true
At least the Skin Walker was polite enough to knock instead of barging in🙂
So nice
I don't know why but seeing bare feet from underneath the bed seems so much more terrifying than any kind of shoes or boots. 🎃👻👍
I know ... those upgrown nails were horrifying!
@@zethraelofteldrassil3149 Lol yeah they definitely made it worse! 😳
Especially with those toes
I was really creeped out, and I was wondering if she sliced with that knife & cut it's Achilles heel, would it go down and die? And I don't think I could breathe quietly enough while panicking, or even stop myself from screaming
@@zethraelofteldrassil3149 Yes they were...
This was GOOOOOOOD. The jumpscare at the road was great, way better than a lot of stuff i've seen. And the ending was awesome too, she actually stabbed it with the blessed dagger instead of paralyzing and becoming a potato sack like most horror movie victims. Loved it!
well considering that most horror movie victims are dealing with something scarier than a supernatural chameleon....the fear is understandable. skin walker could never get me though lol. i hate everyone equally (joking) so i never associate with anyone xD.
there wasnt jumpscare on road
@@quitty3842 it doesn't need to be a scream and a frame of the monster. This one was subtle, the monster appeared all of a sudden in the middle of the road. That kinda counts as a jumpscare. And these are my favorite ones :D
IM SKIPPING THAT PART THEN 😧
I didn't get jumped scared, that didn't happen, didn't scare me at all ...(nothing happened yet so yeah) ok.
The flight or fight situation here is intense.
tru
I think that after seeing something like that your mind fractures and your mentality becomes fearless because there are only 2 outcomes. Live or die! You're right. It would be very intense!
The last scene was amazingly done!!
The way she held her breath in and hid under the bed was sooo realistic. It was what any normal person would do in that situation. Unlike some horror movies, this was very realistically accurate and altogether terrifying! It's funny how shorter films like this can give me the chills that even 3 hour long 'horror' movies cannot.
I don't get why hiding under the bed though?
The person knows you are in that small room. If the person breaks in and sees the window closed, then they know you did not escape and are still in the room. There are only a couple of places to hide in a room usually, under bed, and in a closet.
If you hide under the bed, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage in being able to fight back, the other will have the upper hand. Best thing you could do is just be ready in a fighting stance when they break into the room, and give it your all against them.
@@christopherdunn4066 this video could have been way better, but just ended up being a little ridiculous tbh.
This is one of the best ones I've seen in a long time.
Agreed!!
Sike
I just remembered my dear grandmother (passed away 23 years ago), she used to tell me horrific stories about fellow villagers bumping into satan while walking at night or another one witnessing a fight among the dead, those rising from their tombs and those that emerge from the sea as they had lost their lives by drowning after shipwrecking..
Listening to such stories at night (in a village where electricity was still a luxury and the population was just a handful of people) and me being barely 6 years old.. No wander why i grew up developing a rather fd up personality..
The most chilling fact is that the night she died she visited me in my sleep, she gave me this very tight hug, i could feel her all her bones pressing hard against my body and her bony jaws sucking on my cheek.
I don't scare easily. It happens, but it's rare. This truly scared me. It was actually bad enough that for the last 2 minutes or so, I literally went to the other side of the room - close enough to my screen that I could still see what happened, but far enough away that I felt "safer." Bravo - they did a really good job on this one.
lmao what you doing girl 🤣🤣🤣
@@DieEineMieze Your reply caused me to watch it again.
Didn't have *quite* the same reaction this time, but it still freaked me the heck out - not ashamed to admit it. Lol.
Great short, I honestly think this story's origin is true (skin walking). I really can't imagine being so scared that I could not keep quiet, knowing my life depends on it.
I think based on ones known as upside down walkers skinwalkers werd Navajo thing
Largely misunderstood, their origins were made during war times, kinda like a assassin, to fight against colonial armies etc. American propaganda and writers made it a black magic thing demon thing, to sell books. Anyways ✌
thank you for acknowledging native American heritage month, lovely to see.
Good one! Very creepy....had me on edge the entire time, which is hard to do these days. I love horror/scary movies. However I've noticed the more I watch and learn about them I've become a bit desensitized to the "scare" factor. So when I find one that puts me on edge that's when I know I found an extra good one yk. 👍
Thank you so much Fawn!
Amen!
The sound on this one was very low. I had my volume turned up to the max and still couldn't hear properly.
Very true!!!
Yeah, I thought my headphones were busted
I thought it was my phone
I just turned my subtitles on
I used to be so terrified of the Wendigo/Skinwalker stories growing up, now I'm 40 I absolutely love researching everything about them. Even more enjoy telling my children about the Navajo legends
They weren't witches or demons. They are like assassins made during war time against colonial armies etc. Only propaganda and American suspense writers made it that way to sell books... ✌
This short had so much character development and story that the 15 minute length almost felt like a full-length feature. There's quick backstory which sets up the coming horror so we know what to expect. Then, there's strong emotional characterization in the kids which transitions into adulthood and then shows relationships in pieces. And still we have the first scare on the road, the tension growing as the Skinwalker stalks the protagonist and how it doesn't immediately attack, which honestly is much scarier. The final reveal is just horrific. The movie ends right where it should.
Definitely want to see more indigenous filmmakers and stories. This kicks ass!
I really want Alter to make the credits section bigger. I want to know more about the cast but I couldn't read the credits because it was shrunken down too much at the end. The credits can easily take up the entire left side of the screen with the Alter logo somewhere else than dead-center. There is a crew list in the description of this video, which is good, but no actor list.
The theme of heritage is explored so well, and what better monster than the terrifying skinwalker. The production is of such high quality, too. Kudos all around.
This is real! Imagine seeing an actual “SkinWalker” as a child living in the city!! I was beyond afraid! It took years and years for me to find out my family’s history and the curse someone placed on my family! God released it!!
Oh thank God! I have seen a lot of weird shit but to date I am pretty sure I haven't seen a skin walker.
Wait what
@@damien1781 right 💀
Cool story brony
Wow. Nice lie
This was a really well done horror short. The atmosphere and the creature was really well done. Usually monsters/creatures in horror movies are overdone hence they take the scare factor out of them but this one was really creepy. I absolutely loved this horror short.
Good script, good acting, good atmosphere . It was one of the best short horror movies i’ve ever seen ! Well done! 👏👏👏
she didn't permission it in, right???? but it still came
and knife strike at face is 10000% marvelous. Just love that.
I'm half Lumbee and half black my grandmother use to tell me and my cousins about skinwalkers way before the internet came around and told the world what they are that was a great short awesome job
Reminds me of a short horror movie where a creature had gotten into the house or had been there already and it could mimic anyone's voice. It preys on people. From Crypt Tv.
I heard it too?
Yeah I watch Crypt TV
@RedGryyn That story is based on an Aztec legend abut a creature who was named for an actual former Aztec chief! As I recall, it was some type of water monster.
Well done! Bravo...after a long time a horror movie made me scared like hell. I could literally feel my head swelling up and hair standing at its ends watching the last scene.
That was absolutely terrifying ! and I got instant chills when the dad mentioned that you couldn’t say the creatures nAme since I figured it was probably a skinwalker
I love how she was having none of it and actually took a swing at the creature
WHEW, SHIVERY GOOD! 😱
Thank you for posting a great video yet again! 😘
This was DAMN SCARY‼️ That first bang scared the heck outta me‼️
you talking about the one that came after the knock?! I jumped out of my skin...but decided to jump back into it cuz I was watching this so don't want to be inviting things to enter.
WoW!! I usually am not easily scared, because I watch/ read Horror All the time!! But, THIS...actually scared the Hell Outta me!!
Great job!! ❤
This was a really good scary short! The origin of the skin walker being Native American is true though, but I think throughout history every culture has had their version of it as well. Also I've read that being a recovering addict makes you more susceptible for these things to grab a hold on you, but who knows, I mean after all, its just a legend, right? Anyway...good job!
Recovering addict here, and I can agree with your statement... in active addiction & early recovery I definitely felt more susceptible to these "dark forces". Like beyond just a vulnerable mental state. There's a sense of wickedness that feels latched onto you. Cool to see it kind of touched on here
@@XavierRed69 I hope you are doing better, well wishes and prayers to your recovery! It was a cool short, wasn't it.....
@@irisheyes0075 thank you!
@@XavierRed69 I'm also sober after decades of drugs abuse. I definitely felt dark forces surrounding me at the time. Bad luck, evil dreams, poltergeists. Feeling of emptiness and fatality. I even saw a creepy creature by the side of my bed watching me sleeping once. It was terrifying
@@melancolielupine2023 congrats on your clean time 👏🏻 glad you're doing better!
Thanks guys, for supporting Native American art and actors. ⚡️🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶

This one was awesome! Love the camera work in it! Seriously something special! ❤️❤️
This is so crazy. I was just saying to a girl yesterday that I didn't want to go someplace because of a person and she remembered but forget the person's name and I said good then they shall remain nameless because of things that have happened around that and I went into how I pray against what I think is dark magic. I felt crazy talking but this is so well done. I also have to say I love that it's Native (or Indigenous...sorry I never know which to use because some people prefer Native and some prefer Indigenous so whatever the writers want here). I was just thinking the other day I have seen so much representation on Alter but nothing on Indigenous. I am not saying they never represented as there is lots I haven't seen on Alter but until now I didn't see anything....and White Ash! My boyfriend is half native and his band is the McMa or McMaw...band and he told me there tree of protection is the Ash tree. It's their spirit tree. I don't think it's the White Ash but the point about it being dipped in White Ash. And that turn around point of her not leaving the reservation to her waking up far away from it. This was fantastic. I felt like it was so deeply layered and that darkness that came behind her when she stepped outside was so foreboding and terrifying. At first I was only going to say Wow! Because I feel like I could talk about this film for days and still not shut up and I still won't have managed to say how awe -in-my-heart it got. I will say that the use of what I perceived as a face to ward away evil on the tree that was now just smoothed over got to me. I really don't know if that's what it was supposed to be. Maybe it was just a stump but I really felt the significance if not on a mental level than a spiritual one. Beautifully done. And that line about if you say their name you invite them in to prey on you...yeah, that!
Native or Indigenous, both are fine. You are trying to be sensitive and respectful and that is truly appreciated. Thank you.
@@Rebecca-fg7pp Thank you.

Young Elena's eyes are absolutely gorgeous.
I would like a part 2 please...
This was good!! Whoever is writing these you are so so incredibly talented! That was so scary!😭
This was done so well! Amazing short film! I would pay to watch this! Hope someday soon maybe a full length? This one is awesome.
Certified Gold!!!!!🙂
So did the knife dipped in ash work?
Who knows
Well done! Compelling story and genuinely scary. A great proof of concept for a feature. I would love to see the family's story fleshed out.
Man, that would be so scary! I don't know which is worse - knowing it's there and not seeing it, or seeing the thing.
Good job, this is one of the scariest monsters ive seen in a while
yes, finally someone grabs a weapon and uses it when something creepy is going on. too many would have just ended it with her screaming. even if it's useless, I want to see the ones that fight back.
Congratulations ALTER for 2 million subs 👏🏻🙌❤💙
Fr they deserve it, my favorite channel
HI AMY
Love this one love my native roots and being indigenous it reminds of the old scary stories my Auntie used to tell me on the reservation whn I spent weekends with her may she RIP the skin walker stories were so scary to me ...She would have loved this one here she loved horror movies thts where i get it from this was a real good one thank you so much ❤ 😘
Intense!! Loved this, great acting talent, wonderfully shot. I hope to see more thank you!
Instead of you finding a monster under the bed, the monster finds you under the bed!
Wow! This is so good! Everything about this film is so good! Amazing work ! Thank you!
While I am quite familiar with both the skin walker and Wendigo legends, I was nor aware of either being a part of Seminole lore and especially the skin walker as that is almost exclusively a southwest character. That being said and except for the fact the volume left much to be desired, the production was quite well done from the sets to the cinematography and the acting. Jessica, you and the entire crew did an excellent job with this presentation, kudos to all.
The Wendigo is Algonquin
Omg that was intense
well done great acting , set story , could be a full film on main stream ,
Great Movie. Good effects especially the skinwalker?! creature walking with the "almost there" toenail/talons.
Appreciate she didn't hesitate with jabbing the blade, but (weird sense of humor) the toenails that are sticking up look like pointed elf shoes and it makes me laugh 😄
Excellent movie, I love the actress, very intelligent, and the monster was terrifying. Perfect film!
I enjoyed the entirety of this film. It keeps you on edge and the ending was fun!
at the 6:31 frame I have spaghetti all over the wall and carpet, thank you Alter.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Dad looks like Jonathan Davis from Korn 😄🤘🏻

Spoilers
The symbolism of this story is quite beautiful. The protagonist has a drug problem similar to the one that killed her mother. She was in a relationship with a man who was supportive of her recovery, but possibly still controlling and abusive. She is clean of drugs and living temporarily with her family, but intends to leave the reservation altogether. Her father is a good dad, but he has some kind of disability - possibly medicated schizophrenia?
He tells her a story she doesn't take seriously, but she returns home when the threat he was talking about comes to the res. Specifically, her return is prompted because he has gone missing. She THINKS she meets her dad at home, but this is just a hostile threat trying to fool her. The story her dad told her is what gives her a fighting chance, since she remembers that her enemy is vulnerable to the indigenous weapon hung on the wall.
The whole story seems metaphorical for the importance of hanging onto the lessons your family can teach you, even in spite of their vulnerabilities and shortcomings. Your parents and grandparents may be as fragile as you, but it's from them that you might learn important things BEFORE they can save your life. In the context of our country's erasure of Native American culture and heritage, it's a beautiful story about love, family, perseverence, and survival. Perhaps most poignantly of all, we do not know the outcome of the protagonist's struggle. The film ends with her making a desperate attack against her aggressor. She has what she needs to win, but we don't know if that saves her or not. Just as in real life, the desperate struggle is ongoing.
I enjoyed this tremendously. My congratulations to the entire cast & crew on a beautifully told story.
Oh and sorry I also wanted to say the colours on the steering wheel and it turning shot followed a bit later at the 5:16 timestamp with the eagle going by and the man with the look and then that line "don't worry dad's fine. We just need to adjust his meds again". Heartbreaking terrifying depths. and the strangeness of dad didn't make it to work today and he probably just got confused about the time again and he''ll make it home soon. You plunged us! Certified!
Amazing short film. Would love to see this and other indigenous folklore hit the theatres.
Dayumn! That one was too scary for me! Based around folklore and truths make it 100x’s creepier and awesome! 👻
Very, very nice! I love stories about Natives and the shapeshifter was a touch of creativity. Good acting, nice lights! 👌👌
Brilliant! Made me jump!
This was awesome! An image of the demon through her car window would have been great while she was on the phone driving.
THOSE TOENAILS ARE NASTY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I enjoyed the ambiguity of the ending of this one. Really cool premise and well executed, awesome job on this one
I especially liked how the demon entered the room at the end the same way her Dad did in the beginning.
Okay… holy shit!!! This one had my nerves on edge!
Very effective, thanks!
Yep...PLEASE make this into at least an hour movie.
Okay...WOW this is horrifyingly amazing!
Hoping for maybe part 2 great job once again
This is the first time I have seen a character with my name or even similar name. So happy she seems like a fighter.
EXCELLENT.....definitely gave me the chills
It was ok, lot's of build up but no delivery. The build up was good if you can ignore the plot holes. Like, why would someone take a shower after hearing someone try to open your door. Also who wouldn't call their sister back if they had just missed 8 calls in a row. Why wouldn't you just charge the phone before taking a shower and see what she wants... Hmmm, where is my epic fight scene, this is like sex... without the sex.
❤❤❤❤❤ great job. 👍 👏
Skinwalkers ain't no joke either, makes this video scarier.
I just loved this!
This was awesome!!
This was great. Well done
Okay but can we talk about that transition at the @3:00 min mark.... that was quite insane..
That was pretty intense, great short!😮😬😨👍

This was a good one!!
great acting set story . i hate the ending. i want her to survive . so you did a great job you made me care about the victim.
Absolutely terrifying! Sleeping with my lights on now
That was awesome, thank you, blessed be💖
She saw the shapeshifter on the side of the road and apparently, it 'followed' her home. ~That is so chilling.....especially when it walked while bending completely backwards. Yep That was the shift shaper her father told her about, many years back when she was a child.
Loved this

This scared the crap out of me! And I don’t normally waste my time on “scary” films because I find them funny!
So good and scary!! Loved it!!
Wonderful short! Bravoooo !
Yep, whenever I get home at 10pm I too like to just stand right outside the house for 5-10 minutes just staring into the trees.
Agreed! Who does that? Only a stupid person who seems ready to meet their "maker"!
