    I think the base sharing the difficulty they where created is to differentiate those bases that where built with creative and the ones that where build with normal or survival inventory. In way this will showcase how much effort someone had to put in their base since they had to go out of there way to gather resources. I guess it can server as bragging rights too.
    This prob was implemented because game modes are now all mixed except for permadeath (and maybe expeditions).

    Quick heads up BOB,
    Don't change your freighter, Your base built inside DOESN'T transfer over!!!
    It also saves the game as soon as you buy/exchange freighters so you can't even reload a previous save.😒
    Hopefully it's just a glitch.

    Super excited about the patch, looking forward to the supercharged slots. My fresh start on locked normal mode so far has been awesome. Been doing things I don't usually because before they weren't necessary. Doing station missions and bounties, been doing actual trade routes for money and so forth. Love it and almost feels like a fresh game honestly.

    The random supercharged slots is the best way they could do it, really glad they don’t allow them to be moved around or purchased. Adds an extra element to ship/multitool/freighter hunting and min-maxing that they took away with 4.0

    Almost a month ago but just to share my knowledge. I did one test with 5 multi-tools. A-class cabinet on a space station in a 3-star economy system. Used the save & reload method to access various multi-tools from the pool. 3x pistol, 2x rifle and 3 supercharged slots. Interesting all five times they where on the exact spot. However due pistols had less slots available, 3x a supercharged slot fell off the grid.
    Based on this test it would mean that like the class also the supercharged slots are tied to the weapon cabinet.

    Lol the technology breaking thing still surprises me a lot. I'm used to taking minor fall damage because I use the melee boost method to traverse, and apparently that can break my gear now lol

    I had never though of it, but you are probably correct that the Hard Date for the Switch release may have contributed in the 4.0 update coming out before it was 100% ready which then necessitated all these patches. Good to see that HG moved swiftly to address all the bugs and balance issues. I for one am loving the update and can't wait to see what comes next.

      The Switch release wasn't 100% when it came out either. It's playable, but too irritating for me right now. I'm happy to continue on PC while they work on it. Portable NMS isn't a big priority for me anyhow.

    I think the base building difficulty is just to show if it was built using creative vs someone who built a big base by gathering resources in other modes.

      yep, seems to be another "badge of honor" thing for people who built extremely intricate bases on, say, permadeath.

      It's a lot harder to build in harder modes due to resource gathering etc.

      ​@wolf harrington I don't mind the feature, its cool that people who put in the effort on a high difficulty get to show that they gathered their resources.
      But creativity and design itself accounts for something and, unless I missed that your intention was to express irony, I don't see the need to shit on people for using creative.
      This kind of weird "elitism" is so out of place in game that is not particularly hard. Carbon and Ferrite, the two core ingredients for base building are hardly something acquired with blood and sweat and challenge. Even in permadeath the worst player can find a harmless planet and mine rocks for three hours straight. Thats cool if he did, but not so impressive that it warrants looking down on people who didn't.

      @wolf harrington There is tons of effort in bases beyond the raw resources. If you look at the most impressive glitch builds the core feat isn't that they gathered the resources to do this.
      Creative basis are only "less impressive" compared to the exactly same base built in a higher difficulty, but creative bases can still wildly outshine bases on harder difficulties for their ... creative effort.
      its particularly hilarious for you to wave away "time" invested in creative bases like its a minor factor when your argument simultaneously is about how important it is to respect "the grind" for resources; which is the comparatively less skill-based part of the base building.
      Again: they're mostly carbon and ferrite. Building a cool base requires thought. Mining carbon is something you can outsource to your toddler. But thats the part that decides for you whats lazy and what isn't?

    PSA : supercharged slots are apparently multiplicative. IE, if you supercharge the base module, the supercharge bonus will increase when adding upgrades. Which mean it is more efficient to supercharge the base module (shield, weapon....) over upgrades first. And it's a big increase over supercharging upgrades.
    There are exceptions I imagine. So far, one I know of is upgrading the X hazard resistance (the one that boost all your resistances). If supercharged, it boost it by a LOT. And is, as such, more valuable than the base module (which got a small battery increase).

      Just make sure you have your strongest mods directly adjacent to the SuperSlot and each other, building with the SuperSlot in the middle surrounded on all sides by mods gives the best results. =)

    I just updated and loaded my save for the first time since before 4.0 and I’m mixed on how to feel about my tech, ships and backpack have been affected
    I was expecting the backpack to be stripped of my upgrades but wasn’t expecting my ships to be affected as well….. but increased slots on multi tools is balancing my disappointment in my personal tech

    Love this patch. The freighter inventory lag was really annoying and even crashed my PC a few times. Glad to see stable fps while using them now.

    All bug fixes are good bug fixes. The one I'm waiting for though is the weird issue where Exosuit inventory slots just get inexplicably damaged and you can't repair them. I had to use the Save Editor to fix it, but I'd prefer an actual in-game fix.

    Hey @SurvivalBob thanks for the update!!! As a suggestion for a really intense permadeath run, I'd suggest disabling the HUD. Give it a go, it changes the game loop tremendously.

    Ah thank god, I've been getting a drop pod hint forever popping up long after I lost the chart and it's super annoying when you're trying to work out what you're supposed to be doing on a mission

    has anyone actually loaded the game yet? notice anything missing?
    the mode select screen is gone and the entire Network settings screen has been removed from the pause menu..
    I'm wondering if this means they are going to be overhauling multiplayer soon.
    would be nice to have some self-set default MP settings! like PVP off or "nobody can do anything to my base" kinda stuff

    Bring back the verbal descriptions of items in inventory; I can’t stand just seeing the pictures and periodic table codes & having to mouse over things one by one to see what I have because my dumb ass can’t remember all the icons & pictures.

    Save Points are less resource intensive than Save Beacons, which they left in. Which is why Save Points are so essential... a couple expeditions they didn't give them out and you couldn't buy the blueprint, and the result was that any common planet would have so many beacons on it that you'd shown be shown 5 and unable to put down one of your own. And crashed freighters were actually made much worse... instead of a quick, click-click paying tiny amounts of some common resource, it's now scraaaape-scaaaape the gunk off. So, yeah, I zendesked that this really wasn't worth it if they didn't increase the rewards as well. Which they did... not huge amounts, but I haven't gotten Launch Fuel (or other things that could be easily made), the common item seems to be some Salvage Data now. You also get stacks of top end trade goods (about 5).

    "Bases now show the difficulty settings with which they were created". On experimental last night, my permadeath base now had a little skull icon next to the base name. I can't really see my name over my character's head, but I assume this also has the little skull. Same skull that used to appear at teleporter locations for pirate bases.

    Biggest differences with bases and difficulty is in how you harvest. Creative doesn't need to harvest, because everything is free. Normal mode lets you stack a lot more than survival, so it's easier and less tedious with less travel time to gather materials. It's really a question of convenience. Not really sure if anyone finds that so relevant that that game needs to label it.

      @@SurvivalBobGaming The portable save point was bugged so that some people couldn't get them at all after completing the quest that triggered them, that's why they moved them to the Anomaly.

    In my current PD game my claimed A twitch drop Multitool has three super charged slots grouped together. I have a pulse spitter with some sweet modules for it. With it supercharged it wrecks stuff hard.

    It says they fixed issues that caused some players to have inaccessible slots when viewing storage container inventories but i still have the same issue where most of the bottom rows of my inventory are not displayed when im trying to transfer items to the container inventory, and also it seems to jumble my items and they arent in the same slots when viewing.

    They fixed the missing freighter hyperdrive problem. I'm happy. This was my only issue with with waypoint. Especially since, at the time I was in the middle of traveling halfway across Euclid for a living ship mission. I know normally I would just use my vector, and summon the freighter, but the distances I had to go made that completely out of the question. See, I live in a different galaxy, but the ship still wanted me to go to euclid, and all of my Euclid teleports were a very long way away. It felt like doing the Atlas Path again, except I was moving further from the center lol
    Tested out those boosted slots, and my golden vector is faster and more maneuverable than ever. Ought to make the whiners happy.

    Been playing the new patch for a few hours....here are a few things I have noticed. Was going ship hunting so I wanted to turn off multiplayer, the network menu is now gone and no way to enable or disable multiplayer. In regards to inventory, it can't be scrolled now when transferring items to storage boxes...can only see almost 8 lines.

      when going into storage boxes I feel like the technology should be completely hidden. theres no reason to have it there unless you're installing tech directly from the storage container but I think that situation could be easily handled by temporarily showing the tech inventory for whatever you're installing then after it's installed go back to the storage with your cargo.
      Also, I was waiting for someone to post a video or talk about this, I downloaded the patch 10 minutes after it was uploaded and noticed the mode select screen was gone and so was the entire network menu. I think this means a multiplayer overhaul is coming! :D

    I really like the supercharged slots but I would like to see it pushed to the next level.
    Specialty supercharged spots. One of these slots will have one of the supercharged spots specific for the class of ship. So three normal supercharged then one specific spot.
    Fighter; weaponized
    Hauler; shields
    Explorer; warp
    Now this is where we take a turn. Exotics & solar ships can remain at 4 but no specific slots or perhaps give them 5.
    Shuttles get 5 but two would be specific. One would be launcher specific and the other would be impulse engine specific. This would make them kings of shuttling back and forth to the planets in a system.

    When I think of so many other game developers with their endless DLCs, big and small, to improve player experience, no one rises to the level as Hello Games! They include these countless improvements and update for everyone, for just one upfront cost, the way games used to be. Except they’ve essentially given us 4-5 reiterations of the same game concept, WITHOUT going to NMS 2.0, splitting the players across two platforms, or allowing the first one to simply die! Can tell it’s a company of gamers first, who set out to make a game they wanted to play and enjoy. But change the things about how modern games are improved by constantly passing a dish around begging for more Money, and simply do it for FREE!

    Still no mention of the bug where you can’t move some technologies in the twitch drop alien multi tool :( I’ve had some S class scanner upgrades held hostage for a week now

    Would like to see the first person head height increased as I feel you’re a little taller than the chairs in the space stations, effectively looking up at NPC’s when I’m clearly taller than a Gek for instance, so will be putting this forward. Cheers Bob!

    3:53 There's an option in that new options menu that lets you have everything powered without a power source like batteries, solar panels and spot generators. THAT is my favorite part of the Waypoint update!!! I will soon visit all of my old bases and rip out the power sources to lower base complexity and save tons of parts towards the 16K overall parts cap!!! I'm not sure if it's still true but, at one point I tested and figured out that a wire counts as 1 built part!!! With the "free power" option on, people will be able to squeeze even more detail into a 3K base!!! Wo0o0o0o0o0o0o!!!> @HelloGames

    I've noticed a lot of bases being built on sentinel pillars. I think the base sharing the difficulty they were created is for bases built on the sentinel pillar or the hostile fauna. 🤷‍♂

    I have a learning disability so keeping up with all the survival elements was just too overwhelming. I can turn the need down not off so I can still get used to the systems. I do fully plan on going back with a legit playthrough.

    The locking icon thing wasn't just looked down upon because of being locked.
    It functioned as you receiving a red star forever if you dared to change your difficulty to something easier at any point.
    As if Hello Games looked down upon you for daring to use the new features from 4.0

    My permadeath expedition save that has now switched to a survival save had maxed x class mods in everything logged in on this one to have a look and every single x class mod has turned into really bad rolls so I'm going to delete save, way to much work to redo every ship multitool and exo suit, not happy

    4:00 "Bases now share the difficulty setting with which they were created". ... *SHOW* , Bob. The word was "S H O W". If we're going to do "Reading with Bob", Bob needs to read the actual words written. 😜 (Meaning Bases will have the same icons that players in the Anomaly are getting)

    I would like to be able to change the parts of the ship. Like purchase wings or engines other than what came with the ship at purchase. More ship customization would be nice.

    i just started perma with all the sliders to the right and it's pretty decent. The cost of items is the worst part of it early game specially for nanites

    You said at 2:40 that all modes can see each other including permadeath. I've seen you (and a few others) saying this a LOT, but this is wrong. Unless something changed that I missed, permadeath saves still are separate from all the others even on anomalies, as are expedition saves. It says so in the patch notes. It's really frustrating because a lot of people complaining about the "cheater menu" were upset they would be able to play the game with "cheaters" even in permadeath mode but that is NOT true. I pulled the line from the original 4.0 patch notes that I'm referring to:
    "Expedition and Permadeath games will remain in their own pool for the purposes of matchmaking and base sharing. All other game modes have been unified so that players can explore together, whatever their difficulty preferences."
    Permadeath is still in its own pool as is expeditions, so can we stop spreading misinformation? If I did indeed miss something, can someone provide a link? I have searched but this is all I found.

      @@Ban_Dearg Nope, once created a save can not become permadeath and a permadeath save can not disable the option once created. So the multiplayer pool will not change after game creation (except for expeditions becoming normal saves after the expedition ends).

      @@Ban_Dearg No, it does not include custom difficulty being its own thing. If the permadeath option is enabled, it is in the permadeath pool. If the permadeath option is not enabled it will be pooled with everything else. There is the expedition pool, the permadeath pool, and the everything else pool.

      I would like the "add item" menu to only include items that can actually go into the refiner. Especially the portable/backpack refiner. Waste of time scrolling through exosuit inventory that can't go in there anyway.

    I wanted to try the game so I bought a ps4 disk copy, and used that in my ps5 to get the free upgrade to the ps5 native version. I still need to have disk inside the console as it is my "key" to play the game.

    5 patches in now and they still haven't fixed a issue I reported. If you have power set to free in difficulty settings all of the extractors still want you to power them. This the standard setting for relaxed mode so I figured they would have fixed it by now but nope.

    Nexus missions for me are broken. 2 missions and won’t let me start missions when I’m on specific planet. Says “return to ship to start mission”. Tame wild creatures. Lol No grave markers. ???

    I just came back to No Mans Sky. I’m loving the new updates especially the frigate updates and new frigate base expansion.
    Also space battles are now harder and more challenging which I am enjoying.
    The new squadron option to recruit NPC staff is really good also. And I was happy to experience staff now walking around on my freighter, no such a lonely feeling inside the ship now.
    Resources are spread out now and now you have to actually search for things like salvage data and navigation data.
    Haven’t tried base building yet but it’s next.
    Overall it’s like I came back to a brand new game. That had a save on it. I’m overall enjoying it more than ever.

    Item 5 means bases will show if they were created in creative normal or permadeath I guess not something I care about a brilliant base is a brilliant base,

    Did HG change the harvest number on the plants? ex: star bramble...I have the Optical Drill installed on my multi-tool but I'm still getting 25...it's interesting.

    I want my shit to not break *at all.*
    Honestly, this is a big sticking point for me and I've not played NMS since this was implemented. I do plan to dive into my main save, try to fix things (since they took all my tech away), and see how I like things.
    But to be honest I may never play NMS again. Having my shit broken all the time isn't for me. Reducing how OP I can be also isn't for me. I want to max my character out so I don't have to worry about anything whilst I just run around exploring, seeing what there is to see. They've basically ruined the way I play, not a fan

    I got extra tech slots and it confused the heck out of me. For my equipped ship and my exosuit I got 90 each for tech.
    Unsure if they'll remove what I have. I can't really complain if they do. Wth am I going to do with 90 tech slots, overload enforcement, and sentinel tech being the only thing that won't overload other tech?
    I'm also eagerly looking forward to locking my settings. (I reluctantly had to change broken tech to none as that was how it was for normal mode before.)

      There's a whole lot more to it than that, I ended up filling 46 out of 60 available tech slots in my ship.There's also space required for engine trails and figurines, remember, and you need at least 12 spare slots open to use all of them. This update makes that all possible now, it wasn't before.

    "Show," not "share," lol. Bases _show_ the difficulty settings they were created under. Just like how you have a tag showing your game mode and locked status. If you upload a base from Survival, it'll say it was built in Survival, ie.

    i am loving this game and i love the updates and everything i play on PS4 and idk if it’s a problem i’m just having or not but my game seems to be running like crap at sum points either when moving around on a planet or flying in the ship or just moving the camera around it seems to lag a lot

    A really cool new feature Not spotted by the gang and as far as I'm aware looking down the version 4.x changes list it is not listed
    So, you ask what have I discovered? Edit! Albeit its a bit intermittent should be featured on an easier mode of play in my opinion say normal or Creative.
    When you have a "target" item highlighted in the background such as a mining resource location or its something else it displays a distance countdown on its icon but the problem was you could often lose sight of the countdown when moving
    Solution Hello Games have now put a distance to target in the bottom left corner of the screen where the toxicity levels are shown for me this has really sped up the game without keeping glancing for the target
    Note it does not appear to work if you are spaceborne but you never know you tell me? Worth investigating.😊

    Ricey just tested placement of supercharged slots, they are always in the same spot no matter what the class of ship is. If you buy C class upgrade to S class , slots will be in same placement as if you bought S Class. Same for B or A class upgraded. The stats will by different however...

      That’s only on different classes of the same ship, if it’s a different ship the supercharged slots will be in a different place.

    NGL between the rebalance and supercharged spots I’m curious what I can do with the jet pack once this version number is fully patched up.
    That is to say, I’m hoping that supercharged shots make it to more than just the ships.

      Supercharged slots are in any tech inventory... Exosuit, ship, freighter, multitool, and exocraft.

    Some great changes in this patch. Tbh the ability to see what game mode someone is playing or if they have locked there game is a bit like knowing what there drinking while playing nms. Dont really care....

    LOL, HG got stuck on stupid and brought Snitch Mode back anyway despite the Testers telling them "NO!"
    The best way to solve it is to just LISTEN TO THE PLAYERS who tested it and remove it like they asked, but once again HG has ignored their players, and once again this will not end well for them because some people are just natural buttheads and there WILL be settings shaming and bullying over it, count on it.
    I honestly expect to see it gone with the next patch release once they finally figure out that the Anomaly is now empty most of the time because players just don't like it.

    Got a strange issue, and I'm curious if this is a regular issue or not. Every outpost on the planet I'm on offers the exact same multitool, same class, stats and even color. Also the Gek Observatories all give me the same code to solve, although Korvax transmission towers on the same planet provide different codes each time.
    I've been away from the game for ages, so I'm not sure if this is a known issue of not.

      One multi tool per planet but usually you can find different class cabinets.

      BTW I especially didn’t think the sentinel tower would have the same one, sort of eliminates the need to track them down

      Those were repaired with the 4.04 update, this update is 4.05, you should be good to go by now.
