Firstly THANK YOU. LOVE the commentary content, it adds a great dimension to your BJJ fanatics material as you can see it application. Your other sparring content on youtube is also ace. Second, in this video I really dug the "tangent" about pre emptive grip fighting with guard players vs walking into their guard, THEN trying to pass, as well as the dangers of a cross post. Talking about principles like that + specifics on techniques in this commentary format are great because you can see it in-situ ,and get a better sense of where it applies in your own game. Would love to hear more on some of your reversals from bottom. Some of them look like judo type throws from the ground, it's awesome. Really appreciate your work here and the sharing Dom!
Hey Dom great vids! Great content. Curious on what software you use to edit your videos in order for you to draw and circle details that you point out throughout out the video? Wanted to do something like this on my own time. Studying purposes. I would appreciate your help. Thanks again.
I am curious of trying out your tarantula guard more. I often get a shallow lasso as my start grip when I'm playing guard. Do you have any tips when making the "tarantula grip switch?" Is there a risk for a leg drag on the other leg for example?
Hey dom thank you very much for all you do for the lovers of Jiujitsu and Judo too, you are my favorite fighter with Mica by far and y love all your videos, your dedication and your very high technical level of all the explanations and especially the passion and elegance that you put in everything. I am a recently purple belt and brown in judo practicing it the last two years and in the military as you were (lieutenant in the Spanish Navy), so thanks for being so cool and humble and give us this great opportunity to learn from your lessons, rolls randoris and tournaments.
Honestly i could use more guard retention stuff, im told i have a pretty good guard but i lose it when i want to attack or some people are just so explosive. I love the tarantula guard too, i suck at attacking with it but have been getting the passer very frustrated, so thank you!
Got wrecked during open mat today because I kept walking straight into people's guards. Thanks for the tangent, Dom, these general concepts are super valuable, even if they sound obvious once someone explains them. Will try to learn some more 'loose' guard passing.
Love ur vids. I really learn a lot. I’ve been kinda frustrated and stuck with deciding on how to develop my guard play as a blue belt. The turantula guard has me inspired to mess around this week
This is very informative as a Blue Belt trying to gain experience with rolling, the detail in explanation ensures clarity of movement and how best to defend oneself. Dom your points give an attack and defense strategy, needed to enhance your game. Written down your points and will try to e corporate them in my game.” Think control and ensure you have control of movement” . Nicolas
Love the content Dom! I'm a three strip white belt and recently started implementing tarantula guard with much success. I have a tournament coming up in June and I will be drilling this guard from now till then. I also purchased your tarantula guard video last week as well and it's 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love that tarantula grip exchange from lasso grip. I put that in my game after you showed it in your Tarantula instructional and I use it quite often. I usually go lasso while retaining guard and then transition to tarantula and attacks from there. Thanks Dom
i dont like how the blue belt enters he just gives you his legs, atleast try to pass from the outside a bit? Edit: when I wrote this you mention it at the 5:01 miin mark
Seriously appreciate this. Tarantula guard helped me. I’m the only one at my gym who uses it. Please never stop putting out your thoughts on it. Oss Professor.🫡🫡🫡
Thank you Dom! Great commentary, keep them coming 🙂

Oh wow, you were In Houston? I definitely would've gone to see you. Great commentary. Keep up the great work. 🤙
Yeah it was kind of short notice! Next time I'll blast it out more, my bad man

I've been working another entry that I haven't seen elsewhere that's super strong and a position in itself.

Yeah common strategic error
