I’ve had an ‘04 Tourist (48,000 kms) and a ‘12 Gear Up (16,000 kms). The Tourist was 1WD and the GU was 2WD. Basically, the Ural is the most fun motorcycle I have owned of the roughly baker’s dozen of last 25 years. Hoping to get another in 2025. Once you study David Hough’s book about driving a sidecar, aka the Yellow Book, they are pretty easy to maneuver. The first 500-2,500 klicks are a learning experience (accelerate, bike pulls right, decelerate or brake, bike goes left) and getting used to hanging your body off to the inside on turns. Flying the chair is another skill to learn. Once you go hack, you’ll never go back. Urals rawk.
Always an enjoyment to watch the channel fuzzy . I finally put 2,000 miles on my 450 Himalayan . Been using it for small game hunting this fall season .
Keith you rode the green classic I bought at Baxter a few months ago. Perfect 2 wheel companion to my ural gear up. Urals are a ton of fun once rigged right and you learn them. Be careful, they are addicting……..
@@forgottenmotorcycles welcome anytime! And you said in the video you don’t know where to get Urals. The Baxter equivalent in the ural world is Heindl engineering in Eaton Ohio. New, used, parts galore, and knowledge he freely shares and has a ton of videos here. Best in the biz.
The Ural was a Russian copy of the BMW model with sidecar. A little more agricultural but still a fun and useful machine. Thanks for the ride a long. My second ride in a sidecar. Wahoo.!!!
Years ago, I stopped at Wagner’s (south of Laporte IN) after dropping my daughter off at Valparaiso University. Mike and Felicia were the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. I believe they moved down south somewhere.
@@forgottenmotorcycles IF memory serves, Felicia Landis got married and opened a new dealership somewhere in the south, then later, Mike Wagner sold his dealership and went down to help them out. But that was 20+ years ago.
When I was a kid, I owned (briefly) a Matchless combination....It wasn't "set up" right and I managed to put it through a wall with a buddy sitting in the chair.....we both managed to limp away, so, all good
@@forgottenmotorcycles It was only a low wall, outside the local Bus Garage....they repaired the wall, and you could see where.....every time I drove past I used to notice it....until, eventually they modernised the town, and pulled down the garage, and built apartments.....
I had a RE Classic 500 with a side car. It was a lot of fun, easy to drive and quite stable. The dealer who installed the sidecar was a Ural dealer. I took a Ural for a ride and boy, it was like driving a tank. Heavy steering, indeed.
Good morning Fuzzy ! This motorcycle and sidecar is the most awesome 3 wheeler I've ever seen. I love it everything about it is perfect. It must be a super smooth running engine because I was watching the mirrors as you rode and there was no vibration. I'd like to know where you can buy one.
A friend of mine who lost a leg when he got T-boned by a car has one, it's been modified with a kliktronic gear change and keeps him riding. Only problem is we drive on the left so the sidecar is on the "wrong side"
750 lbs. that motor is not original. That year came with a 650cc grenade. This one has the later 750. Much better than the 650,. But, reliability is still suspect. However, owners of Urals seem to love them. Reliability seems to increase with each generation..But for the money they ask for them, No thanks. I owned one years ago.. It was better than average. Mainly because it had a BMW 750 engine.
Thanks again for coming out to my place Fuzzy! Had a great time visiting with you!
Let's do it again...soon! (think CBX)
Love my 2012 Tourist. My wife and I use it to haul wood in the sidecar when camping.
Nice!

Would love to put many miles on a sidecar rig. Wahoo!
Very cool Fuzzy! Thanks to you and the owner for sharing with us. I've always thought Urals were cool bikes!
Really do appreciate the owner sharing such a good example of this machine. Wahoo!

What is your second ride, what kind of bike/cart?
@@forgottenmotorcycles a friend of mine had a sidecar rig years ago that I got to ride in. My second ride was in the video you posted. Lol.
Ural beings a whole new definition to “high maintenance”! Fun? YES. And plenty of work!
The cost of this kind of fun...Wahoo!

I've googled the shop and don't get any info on it. I'm wondering if it's still around?

There is a Classic 500 about a hundred miles from here. I need to figure out how to get us a ride on it. Wahoo!
Hello from Russia 👋
These motorcycles are rarity now even in Russia.

It was a great bike to ride. Not sure where they sell these. I did google the company that sold this fellow his, could not find any info on it. Wahoo!
CV carbs on my 2000 , mine is 650 ,750 = more power the hand controls are improved and the leading link forks are much more rugged , way cool
Nice!
Yea. Them are cool. I really wanted one years ago.
Very nice!

I think that is a" Earles" front end
Not sure.
The track is very wide on those .48 inches, assuring a wrestling match.
Great fun!
@@forgottenmotorcycles I will stick with a 42 inch track much better

Just did some googling...2001 was the last year of the 650, 2002 the first year of the 750.
I bought that bike brand new. It is all original.
I have a Ural or Dnepr sidecar I just bought about a month ago.Currently running a velorex.
@@forgottenmotorcycles my mistake, I was off a year.at least in 2002, Urals were still somewhat affordable. Not anymore
