  • With its nose rising imperiously into the air, the impressive stature of the Stirling was a result of the massive, lengthened undercarriage the aircraft employed, a design modification needed to give the Stirling a greater angle of attack during take-off. The Stirling's huge bomb bay allowed the aircraft to carry three times as many bombs as the Vickers Wellington and almost nine times the weight carried by a Bristol Blenheim, presenting the RAF with a potent new weapon with which to take the war to the enemy and pointing the way towards the future of night bombing operations.
    Stirling Mk.III LJ542 was unusual in that it sported rather elaborate nose artwork, a feature which was not common on British aircraft during WWII. Named "The Gremlin Teaser", the artwork featured a pin-up girl wearing what appear to be angel wings, the inference thought to be that this angelic figure was flying in defiance of evil, in this age-old wartime struggle of good against evil, something its crew must have felt they were doing on a nightly basis. "The Gremlin Teaser" would end up being a veteran of 60 operational sorties and during her time with No.199 Squadron, was involved in undertaking vital electronic countermeasures missions, particularly around the time of D-Day, confusing enemy defences in advance of the Allied invasion.
    Seen here is the Short Stirling B.Mk III, from RAF No.199 Sqn, LJ542 "Gremlin Teaser", 1944 in 1:72nd scale diecast by Corgi. It's a fantastic rendition of this English bomber from World War 2 in a limited made 1,000 diecast model produced world wide.
    Thank you as usual for checking out our video, we appreciate it immensely. I hope you found it helpful in some way and if so please throw us a like or even subscribe if you wish to be kept up to date with our latest releases ‪@heavymetaldiecast‬
    Use of any images or video in any of my reviews is used out of pure respect in regard to units and/or actual people. I wish to acknowledge all those that have served past and present with their respective nations armed forces with some making the ultimate sacrifice. Political ideals aside, it takes great courage and selflessness to answer your countries call.
    Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
    Cheers

      Haha. Poor old Corgi isn't that bad,haha although they do test me at times as you see in the video 😂 so you must be that one person that gives my Corgi videos a dislike occasionally ,haha 🤣

      @@slizevicius Haha no I never thought it would be you 😀. You have been a great supporter of the channel. Was just saying it as a stir 😉 to be honest i wouldnt care if it was. Everyone has a right to click which ever they want. I get a random 👎 here and there. But it's only ever 1 on a video, so its just a random person 😀. I'd worry I'm doing something wrong if I had multiple 👎 but no video has that yet. So thank you again for your support of the channel, I do appreciate it 😀👍

    Hey look, it's the British B-29.

    • @heavymetaldiecast
      @heavymetaldiecast  9 месяцев назад +1

      Haha, be closer to a B-17 wouldn't it. Sterling's were in service before the B-29 made its first flight 😉. The Brits and the US certainly had there share of big 4 engined bombers to choose from. 😂. Thanks as always fro dropping past mate 😀👍

      @@heavymetaldiecast I just meant the Stirling is one of the bigger British bombers like the B-29 is for the US.

      @@avgjoeavglife Oh for sure you are absolutely right. These things were huge. The B-29 was a behemoth, wonder if anyone will do a 1:72 scale version of it...how awesome would that be 😃

      Yep diecast is dear in Australia. That price included the shipping to me. $200US is around $315AUD. $140US is a great price, that's fantastic 😀

      One of the main reasons I reference the price in my videos is to show how much I'm spending to bring you all a video,haha. Most countries will usually be cheaper 😂. Thanks again for checking out the video and commenting 😀👍
