Thanks Simon! This video saved my marriage
Enjoy your pin
Even tho I’m not a beginner anymore I find videos like this very helpful because we can see other people’s techniques and adapt some of this in your own lubing style
thanks for teaching how to coom in stabs, dad
Such a great direct and formative video. Love the full coverage of information no matter your skill level.
Love your straightforward, in-depth, useful videos. None of the BS from being overly produced. Keep doing your thing, Simon!!
Always find your videos very easy to follow, thanks for the 2nd one! (I followed the first lubing guide video and still use it very much).
These are so informative. I think a lot of people need more in depth tutorials the way you do them vs quick tutorials!
I love your approach of making the most of cheap stabs.
Great video as always Simon! I know we like to cut up on Twitch, but I really appreciate how serious your YT tutorials & reviews are!
Basically to sum it up: if it ain't broke, don't fix it
Thanks for this! People often put tools over principle in anything, and I appreciate that you just focused on the basics.
Great vid Simon, simple and to the point.
Even though I am not a beginner, I'll be sending this video to anyone who asks about modding stabs.
Thank you Angry Keyboard Man
Thanks man your advise so clearly for me !!!
Great resource as usual 🙂
Subtle OG Tangie spacebar flex. Nise. Beside that, that guide should answer all questions peeps ever have in regards to this topic.
30 minutes into discovering your channel and im learning so much wtf
Good job man. I learned a lot here.
good work mr simon
honestly its so nice and refreshing to hear someone who's been in the game for so long advocate for cheap stabs. i didn't even know that was a good idea and was convinced by other youtubers if they're not durock stabs they're shit. thanks bro
its 2023 bro, durocks are shit
Good video - I've always wondered why stabs are clipped and definitely might try unclipped stabs soon.
As for the gear selection, I do like Gateron clip ins. They're slightly more tight on the stem wire insert (I suspect they're using similar molds to Zeal stabs which would make sense as it's Gateron) making it much easier to eliminate rattle. Still pretty affordable too, around 60 yuan for a TKL kit I think.
Poggies a new simone video
It only took one eternity
Thanks Simon for imparting all your keyboard knowledge. I've been learning so much from your videos and Twitch streams. Now I need to nab an eggplant shirt. 🍆🐊
Very informative vid 👍
Ive used plate mount cherry, screw in durocks and clip in cherry, surprisingly i found great ease working with the clip ins and its not as bad as the community makes it out to be. No holee mod needed, just the basics as simon here demoed.
thank you for mentioning and praising clip-in stabilizers, nice vid as always
Which is better screw in or clip in stabs?
@@byrhl7937 depends. Get a whole bunch of stabs and test them out
@@lasercrafter4408 what do you think of gmk screw ins? Are they good?
@@byrhl7937 it depends. Pretooled gmk screw ins are ok, some people say that the newer gmk screw ins are bad
I love cooming in my stabs good vid.
I personally use 205 on everything... Although they're initially more effective than 205 at silencing, DE grease or super lube tends to fall off the stab wire after some time, and returns to a louder baseline state, whereas 205 is slightly louder at first, but seems to remain at the same volume level. Also, over lubing with grease is much easier and noticeable than with 205g0. YMMV
Thank you keyboard friend
Thanks for doing these videos Simon. It should be mandatory for every noob to follow your tutorials. Which is why I rewatch your videos 3 times 🍆
🍆
@@Blacksimon hey Simon. I could really use your help please. I recently changed to tactile switches Boba U4T's and like the feeling of tactile switches. Looking at building my Haus keyboard and thinking about using brown's. What would you recommend, MX Brown's, MX Brown Hyperglide's or Gat Browns? And any suggestions for springs and if I should L&F them?
17:08 man's had to cut the recording because he couldn't peel a bandaid LOL
Oh I kept recording, for a LONG time
Had to cut it down, but that sucker took me like 4 mins to peel
@@Blacksimon You should use your tweezers bro
Why I did not watch this video couple of stab sets ago... :D great video.
Any ideas how to clean the stabs from krytox? tried with izopropyl but it just gets stickier :(
Thanks
soap, water
Wouldn’t they feel mushy? I’ve tried putting more lube and doing bandaid mod but I found out they are too mushy that I have to redo it.
Right now I find it best to use expensive zeal stabs and expensive 205g0, but I only put a small amount of lube and not using bandaid mod and I find out this is the best way for me to do it.
I think I’ll try again using your method though, if it work for me it will nice and cheap!
So, the stab spamming phase normally lasts for the first day or so, you really have to put a lot of movement into them for the lube to settle. (You also have to hit the keys HARD) but it's been working quite well for me
Bandaiding will always feel mushy compared to direct pcb contact, but that's the trade off for silent builds
@@Blacksimon Yea I think bandaid mod is just not for me, I personally don’t mind the stem hitting the PCB. Ticking and rattling are the only noises I hate from stabs, and that’s when wire balancing are really important if I’m using expensive stabs.
Can you get non-disposable applicators? Or are the ones you use easy to clean / reuse? X
I use a single applicator for 20+ builds, after which I cut the cotton off and use it as a toothpick or poking tool for reset switches and such. (You can prolly make it last longer if you wash it occasionally)
If you do pick up a set of 400+, make sure to share with friends, a single applicator goes a long way
@@Blacksimon good to hear, thank you 🙌
Is there any use in bandaiding the pcb if the stabs are plate mounted?
Yes because the stab still hits the pcb
The cheap stab's link requires me to create a taobao account to view. Can somebody tell me the name of the stabs?
Lmao as more and more hyped stab sets are coming out (tx, owlstab, stabbies,..) for like 20-40$ i still main the good ol cherry clip in all my boards.
hello simon, thanks for making this video, getting tired of this holee mod shit
I wonder why though?
what is the length in millimeter to categorise a PCB as "thin"?
1.2mm thickness is considered thin.
1.6 is the standard thickness (sometimes. 1.5)
I’ve seen so many other RUclipsr’s who advise using little lube as possible. You, dad, are the opposite. I’m still trying to process this. Any advise?
I'd personally rather have too much, and spam the keys to get it to spread around.
Compared to not having enough and maybe having to disassemble the board.
It's 100% up to you, play around with an amount you feel comfortable with
@@Blacksimon so do you think that the overlubing result of feeling “sticky” just a myth?
where did gater ron asmr go T-T
It's there if you look hard enough ☺️
Toxic
😭
Why no holee mod? That thing literally got rid of all the rattle on some spacebars and other stabs these I couldn't mod to no rattle with tons of 205g0 / dielectric grease. Literally godsent mod. Even with zero lube my stabs sound better than if I spent 1h on each stab trying 10x to make it sound perfectly
I am wondering about that as well
Please clean your Penumbra set... it hurts me...
Oh it's clean, the discoloration is from a cool mod I did called "throw it in a tub of pure acetone and alcohol"
Would not recommend
ne holee mod avail
No
Hell no
@@Blacksimon >:(
No holee mod
