Most states are pretty good about this. I got pulled over expired reg, no DL, and no insurance, cop was cool, said get registration, insurance, and DL before court date, and it should take all tickets away. I walked away with a no insurance ticket from court, not bad considering.
Michigan is a strange state, don't need to notorize titles when buying cars there. I was on edge driving it back to ohio with no plate. Passed many cops and wasnt pulled over
Most cops will even tell you to bring the proper paperwork in to court and they will ask the judge to drop it

You have to draw a vacuum on the ac system to load the right amount into it. It might work for a little bit but I’ll eventually break the compressor or freeze a line.
Yes, and make sure you have the correct amount of compressor oil. Personally I would have a shop recharge the system with their fancy machine once you know the compressor works.
@@StingrayOfficial yea that too or you can buy refrigerant with oil already in it. I have my own vacuum pump and manifold set and i do it myself whenever I have to fix something with AC.
@Quick G Correction, You should pull a vacuum on an AC system that has been “opened.” The reason for that is to boil out moisture that maybe present in system out of system. The reason this is considered a best industry practice is because moisture and some refrigerants can form an acid, additionally moisture in the system can react with some refrigerate oils creating a gummy sludge that can damage the compressor, or clog the orifice tube/expansion valve and in extreme situations cause the desiccant bag in the accumulator/receiver dry to blow apart and send trash throughout the system. The desiccant bag popping is from my several decades of working on car A/C systems extremely rare and was more common on R-12 systems that R134A and newer refrigerates.
Lastly many years ago when R-12 and R-22 was less than a dollar a pound and people did not care about the ozone layer it was an industry accepted practice especially on large units where it could take days to draw a proper vacuum and boil the moisture out of the system to do a procedure known as refrigerate flushing to expel moisture from the system. This involved static filling and venting of the system and bleeding of a percentage of refrigerate off while replacing the refrigerate being bleed off. Lastly you can purchase for installation in homes or RV’s systems commonly known as mini-splits which has all the refrigerant required for the system in the compressor and after mounting the compressor/condenser units and the evaporator/fan unit and hooking up the lines and power to the units a pressure valve is triggered and the refrigerate stored as a liquid in the compressor fills the system and you have cold air blowing. I bring up these last two examples to clearly illustrate that while drawing a vacuum before charging a system is definitely a good practice it is not definitively required like some might make you believe.
PS do you seriously think every car manufactured by Ford, GM, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, etc etc has a vacuum drawn on the A/C system for 30 minutes after reaching 28.7 inches of Mercury before refrigerant is pumped into the system, because if you do I have a bridge and some ocean front property I would like to sell you.
@@gullreefclub Wow I learned so much, thanks!
I replaced an ac compressor without having a vacuum...just removed the old and put on the new and added a charge...ac worked for 3 years...at that point I think the dryer or condenser went bad...but car had 170k miles by that point so it's hard to say if would have lasted longer if it had been serviced properly.
Sometimes if you get the issue fixed… like get the car registered and insured to show the court you are correcting the issue… sometimes the judge will dismiss the case for a court filing fee…
You need to pull a vacuum on the AC system or it will be working very poorly if at all. If all you do is add cans you are just adding refrigerant to the air that is trapped in there and overfilling. You will also need to make sure the compressor has the proper oil in it. Have a shop do it or just get the kit from harbor freight with a vac pump it is not that spendy. Chris Fix has a great video on it.

There is a A/C line pressure switch that will keep the compressor from kicking on in low Freon conditions. Jump it and it should kick on

Stock fuel tank has a fueling issue when you take hard corners or spin the car at low fuel levels. They make something called a trap door if you look on ft86speed for it. I used to have a brz and it helped a lot. Especially when going left because the fuel pump is under the drive side back seat
Ac shouldn't kick on when empty, you have to start filling it for the line pressure switch to tell the compressor that it has pressure so It will start to kick on and cycle the freon (r134-a) totally normal, just give it a go and start filling it
Did you watch the video? They were filling it and did have pressure in the system 😂😂
They probed it which should have bypassed the low freon switch so it should have kicked in.
You're all wrong, can't have air in the lines or it won't ever work, have to vacuum it out, adding a charge only works if a leak has caused freon pressure to get low, if lines have been disconnected(i.e. a motor swap with a new compressor) you have to vacuum first every time
I just put a jumper wire on the pump and get it turning and until it starts having enough pressure to run on its own and do this every time no problems...
@@billbry great way to burn up the compressor, it needs to be vacuumed first
Kyle! It has to have some in the system before the clutch kicks on, there’s a pressure sensor to save the compressor if it’s low. It won’t kick in if the system is dry
This is top tier marketing for AG1 🤣
Assuming the belt ripped because the compressor is seized. When you get a new compressor you want to inject the oem specified oil and quantity of oil, failure to do so will end up in another broken compressor. You’ll also need someone to hook up their R-134 machine to the system and evacuate(draw vacuum) the system before adding the specified amount of refrigerant. Would love to see more content on this. Harbor freight vacuum, and gauges. Then use the cheapest R134 from Walmart that doesn’t contain the junk sealer or dyes.
Make sure you have the correct amount of Pag46 oil (or whatever recommended) and then vacuum out the system . Vacuum is needed because there is moisture in the dryer .
Also , if you want to get pressure in the system , put the can in hot water so it turns to vapor. Don’t turn the can upside down and make it flow as liquid.
Fan speed 4, max cool, windows down .
You know your poo poo bro. Every time I see someone flipping the can around like it's going to make it go in faster if they shake it. like it's soda or something....I just stand back and laugh.

Your best bet to have really good working A/C is to take it to a shop with someone who is certified as an A/C tech. He will vacuum the system out and create negative pressure in the system. Then slowly introduce the new R-134 into the system the proper way by balancing the system out with special pressure gauges.

You have to jump the low pressure switch to get the compressor to come on until you get some freon back in it.
also try pushing the clutch toward the pulley to see if it is stuck/going out while MAX A/C is engaged....most likely to low tho..have it filled professionally 1 ounce to much can actually damage a modern compressor
Exactly
No sense in doing anything unless they get a vacuum pump. Forcing $55. worth of freon in an unknown system isn't the smartest thing to do. Suck it down for half an hour, shut off the gauges and keep an eye on the needle, if it comes up at all there's no sense in wasting freon. Harbor Freight sells a pump and gauges pretty reasonable. Then buy cans of freon at Walmart for around $8. a little car like that probably uses less than 2 cans.
AC work is a simple DIY project. It beats paying a shop $300. or higher to do it for you
If the pressure is wrong in the AC the compressor may not activate.
Most of the AC in a can are for systems that are not as good as they were, yours is empty.
It will need to be placed under vacuum to get all the moisture out of it (florida) then filled.
The compressor also needs a specific amount of oil. If yours was dry, it will fail pretty fast.

Kyle. If you go to the local court house and get a dealer license you can get specific business auto insurance that's not to expensive that's paid annually. The DMV will provide dealer plates you can use on any vehicle as needed.
A friend of mine flips like 2 or 3 cars a month from copart, plus he has a ton of personal daily's and projects and this worked well for him needing to drive these vehicles.
The dealers license was a few hundred bucks a year and they offered him upto 5 dealer plates. The plates where like 30 bucks each. The special business/dealers auto policy was like $70 or $80 a month.
With automotive RUclipsrs like yourself becoming much more prominent and established im sure insurance companies have learned how to taylor these policies to fit your needs. While also being more affordable than individual policies aswell as giving you legal rights to drive any one of your vehicles legally using the dealers plates.
If you look at owners of small car lots most of the time even their personal vehicles are dealer tags!
I know that could be overkill for what you do, It's an idea worth looking into that could be cheaper and less of a headache. It also gives you flexibility to drive any vehicle you want.
Also look at you state laws because some states have a law where if your building a car you are legally aloud to test drive it within so many miles from your shop.
B Is for build covered this law in the first test drive on the powder blue BMW V10 swapped Datsun 240Z with the rocket bunny kit.
He had a run in with the police over no playe and this law saved his ass.
I know he is in Oregon but I'm sure there are similar laws in Florida and other states aswell. It's worth looking into as you guys are always test driving new and updated builds.
Okay Hope this helps! This law could void your ticket. If it don't
having the FRS tagged and insured by court should get them to dismiss the ticket!!
Keep up the good work Boiz!!
Dang Kyle 😬 you’ve come so far, and are always moving forward. I remember pre-sponsorship days. But you totally nailed the bit 😂🤙🏼
Bring it to a shop. Compressor might have lost alot of oil from just sitting around, they will add some. also system needs to get vaccumed out of air then the refrigerant gets filled in.
Compressor clutch might have not turned on due to those pressure switches
You should of said if he wants he can follow you home 2 miles and you can get him all the paper work you have. That sometimes works if you're lucky as they wanna see if you are lieing or not, and will usually go easy if not.
I am sure someone has already commented this but your compressor wont spin if the pressure in the system is super low, go to auto zone and rent a vacuum pump and some gauges you need to pull a vacuum down on the system then you can add your refrigerant. Its a bit more of a process then just that, I dont want to get the boot for adding a link but look at Chris Fix's video called How to Properly Recharge Your AC System. Cuz if you just go get a new compressor and swap it out you will be pretty much in the same situation you are now.
Gotta pull a vacuum on that ac system before you charge it with refrigerant. The vacuum is what pulls the refrigerant from the can into the system and kicks the compressor on
Can is under pressure so its not required to vac it just to get freon in it. But to get moisture out to get best cooling from system then yes vac it
The compressor is what draws the freon in. You create the vacuum to get rid of old refrigerant and moisture in the system.
@@Djkommode sorry but thats incorrect
The can pressurizes the low side, when low side has pressure the a/c compressor should kick on, once compressor is spinning it will draw refrigerant from the low side allowing the can to fully empty. You don't NEED to draw a vacuum to charge the system
@@Djkommode half is right, half isnt
You have to vac the system out first then you have to jump the pressure switch to get the compressor to turn on. It will not kick on at first when its empty.

You gotta put the PAG oil into the AC compressor if that hasn't been done already (no oil or too little wrecks the vanes), then vacuum the AC system to get the air out, then add Freon to the system until the pressure is at the right level, and it should be ready to go the ECU can take care of it past then since its already waiting to engage the clutch once it sees pressure. It'll see pressure when you put the Freon charge into it. Also of note, if you use PAG oil you have to run R134a, but if you use POE oil you can use either R134a or R12 refrigerant. I'd suggest R12 and POE since R12 is more efficient at cooling things, about 15% better from what I've read, and that means a smaller condenser is needed since it makes a larger temperature differential, a larger temperature differential always mean a more efficient heat pump which is what AC is, a heat pump.
You guy's have inspired me to get back into a Honda, Last Sunday I picked up what I'm calling the "Black Soul Civic" a 2000 black DX Coupe, One owner, original air box, Original exhaust, crank windows and manual locks. I love your shows. Had a friend named Wyatt from New England. Unfortunately he passed away. When I watch your stuff, I remember him as he was alive.
I did not pay much attention in school to HVAC but I’m pretty sure the system needs to be under vacuum to draw in refrigerant.
well you can have it draw it in for lack of pressure or you can shove it in by having a higher pressure in the can xD
the key thing is having a pressure difference
You let the compressor draw it in
It’s a sealed system
It absolutely need to be negative pressure so the refrigerant can fill that space there is no way around that .
Court dates easy. Show up w insurance and registration and insurance (immediately) and it'll be fine. Check for 12v at the AC compressor . If no 12v check pressure switch on line, check AC Compressor fuse. Try making sure the can of freon is entering the system. Vacuum should be done first in a recharge but I've managed a summer by a refill or fill from empty without a Vacuum more times than I can count
I've lived in FL all my life, in the Tampa area. Each county has their own way of handling tickets and fines, but I would very much recommend paying the fines, and/or considering legal consultation even as to help lessen the penalty decision if you might have to face any court dates. I didn't watch all the video, so if it's just tickets, then that's better, but I say all this because once you get flagged on one thing, it's a slippery slope here that can end up costing alot more when it's all said and done, and so you want it all done and behind you as soon as you can.
Lol. We have online driving schools. You pay the fine, admit no guilt, take the course and there's no points on your record. You have so many chances to take driver's school. Dont forget.... usually the A/C system has a compressor oil amount that has to be added to a new system. The can from the parts store may have a little bit of oil in it (to replace what tends to leak out when there is a leak) but probably not enough. If you cook the compressor, the ENTIRE system will be full of metal..... metal that usually cannot be flushed out.
Harbor freight has a fairly inexpensive vacuum pump and gauge set that work well. and its an excuse for more tools.... and in FL you will definitely use them.
You definitely need to vacuum the a/c system down before charging it. hope it gets to working soon
You can get those little vacuum pumps that run off of compressor air pressure to pull a vacuum on the AC. Also, it has a pressure switch that will not let the compressor come on until a certain amount of pressure in the system. But if you don't get the moisture out by vacuuming, the moisture becomes acidity and will eat a hole in the evaporator usually.
I am surprised you guys don’t have dealer plates with the amount of vehicles you mess with.
The ac compressor won't cut on if it's not enough refrigerant in it. It does that to keep from messing it up. Also if it's over charged it will cut on and off. So just start putting the freon in it and it will start to work once it reads enough in there.
Also the thing you have to remember about charging an A/C system properly. Is that when it's hooked to the charging machine, the machine draws a vacuum on the system. So when the refrigerant goes in, it actually sucks it in, rather than forcing it in. I'm no expert by any means. But I do have some training via trade school. And the only way I've ever serviced an A/C system using the proper machine to do it. Not saying there isn't other ways to do it. But the proper and legal way to service it is to take it to an A/C certified shop to do it. Either way, the car is sick. Keep up with the content 🤙
Kyle you need to pull a vacuum and get the A/C system charged correctly; assuming it doesn't leak. Whats prolly happening is the high pressure sensor is stopping the pump from engaging due to lack of coolant in the system. Might want to get your dryer replaced...

Hey Kyle. It sounds like the compressor clutch coil is bad. It’s a common problem on Hondas from my experience of an Auto Ac Technician. But you can just replace the entire thing one time. They seem cheap used over there in the US.
Hey Kyle. Go get your car registered and insuranced. Then take a copy of all that to the clerk of court and ask them to present that to the judge and he will probably just dismiss it.
I think it the pressure safety switch for the compressor, it will prevent the compressor to engage because it doesnt have refrigerant in it
with the amount of cars you have in the fleet it would be well worth it to just buy a 30lb tank of refrigerant and gauges so you can do your own AC recharging. There is like $7 worth of refrigerant in that $50 can!
I don't think a single other car they have has AC. This would be mostly wasted :)
@Ben Sprink Just dump that stuff to atmosphere and dont tell the epa
Put a jumper wire in the low pressure a/c switch. It should kick the compressor on until you get some Freon in it. It also needs to have a vacuum put on it and a/c oil put in before Freon.

Its a safety thing with the compressor. If there is no gas in the system the ECU won't engage the clutch. So to engage the clutch you just need to pull the relay and short the pins to force the compressor clutch to engage then you can charge the system. replace the relay and your done.
Brooo literally the best advertisement for AG hands down!!!
Fun fact. It is not good to run colder. The operating temp is very important. The car adds a bit of fuel when warming up. That extra fuel can leak past your piston rings if it doesn't burn off right. Also depends on what tune they are running
You have to pull a vacuum on the AC system. You're asking for trouble. It will freeze up. You can buy a vacuum pump from o'reilly's or Napa for 20 or $30 just hooks up to your air compressor, Run it for 30 minutes or so.
You need to pull a vacuum on it and I would change the orffis tube or expansion valve which ever it has and the dryer if you want a really good working A/C system then charge it after you put another compresser
A lot of times those AC compressors will not kick on unless they see adequate Freon coolant pressure inside of the system, this is done that way you have to take it to a shop or dealer to have it filled the first time or from empty....
Awesome video guys! You need to do an angle kit and set it up to drift ASAP!
You need to give the compressor power until the pressure switch can see pressure. If it don't see Freon pursue it won't energize that compressor clutch. If you use a meter and have battery voltage at the compressor clutch. Hit the clutch lightly and sometimes it will start working. Also the air gap for the magnetic field could be too far apart.
You may have to jump the relay for the AC compressor in order to kick on the clutch because the AC compressor has an internal safety that will not allow it to compress anything unless there is enough pressure in the system so it doesn't damage the compressor

Test it first, the Subie A/C relay is known to fail. $12 from local dealer, recharged, and all's good.
If your clutch isn't engaging then it might be worth putting a smaller shim between the clutch plate and the compressor, K20 AC compressor magnets seem to get weak over time. Moving the plate closer to the magnet might solve your problem.
So happy to see a frs finally taking a different turn and looking so good 😊 ❤️ not a fan of them but that one is a good build I'm loving it man good job.
The compressor won't come on until you have enough freon in the system to not trigger the low pressure cut-off. Try jumping the connector on the low pressure switch to see if the compressor starts spinning. If it does, try to charge the system while you have the connector jumped.
You guys are really giving these sponsors their money's worth.
🤘😎👍
For the ❄️ A/C ❄️ you could have a bad high or low sensor not letting it turn the compressor on.
the ac compressor could just be stuck also or high or low pressure switch. but I would make sure to hold ac can up side down with half can so you get a liquid out so you get oil from the can and not just gas
My a/c compressor wouldn't kick on. I just pulled the relay for it and made a jumper for the pins so it forced it to kick on. the compressor kicked on and I was able to fill my a/c. Turned off the car, took the jumper out and put the relay back in, turned it back on and it worked like normal. Still got cold a/c today. 😁
These have a saddle type tank so don't guys install on a pump on the other side too. Super easy to get to under back seat. Also if you need skate parts or a white frs ask Trevor because I just dropped a bunch of stuff at his shop
Compressor also won't kick until around 40psi of a charge to prevent damage.
Compressor clutch won't engage if it thinks refrigerant is low - protects the compressor. You need to take it to a shop to have it pumped down as a million others have said and then filled correctly.
You should put a vacuum on it before charging the AC. 1. It's going to remove the air from the system 2. It will make sure you don't have leaks. 50+ bucks a pop adds up quick when your trying to diagnose an AC.
