He has changed the trajectory of human being in a very positive direction. He is considered “old school” with a modern twist. Very good for those deeply entrenched in Hinduism, and others, also. But, Rupert’s teachings, are just so timely. He alone has led his weary flock on a direct path, unburdened by the massive weight of religious dogma and ritual, yet still embracing it at times whilst shedding new light on its traditional meaning. But, I do get your absolute love and appreciation for this wonderful, patient, compassionate, kingly, saintly human being.

Yet unfortunately that also seems to include the too common modern pitfalls of narcissm & materialism (like Sai Baba & Rajnesh/Osho & many 'prosperity = spirituality' preachers & New Age teachers). Yet I do also see Sadguru has a much needed environmental sustainability ethic, which is admirable. I love his sustainability vision- he's instigated, & helped fund the planting of so many thousands of trees in his home county & posits for his people to learn regenerative mix crop agriculture. Very commendable! Rupert Spira has such loving compassion, purity of heart, deep devotion, breadth of seeking knowledge (yet thankfully free of dogma & cultural traditions). I love that he focuses on all the mystic's writings(!) & his own deep experiential knowing... yet offers all up in complete humility, respectfully to other seekers. He truly walks the talk! I love both the Direct Path & the way he teaches- so eloquently, simply & purposefully clearly - thoughtfully eludicating to ensure his answers are understood. All of which makes him a true Teacher. What & how he teaches is certainly a perfect balm for our broken world. Jesus/Jeshua taught in a similar time of conquest, corruption, inequity & unrest. RS has included He's teachings from gnostic Gospel of Thomas (The Gnostic Gospels, Elaine Pagels) & so many of the great mystics world over. We are Blessed!
Rupert when you say consciousness is always aware of itself and the separate-self is coloured by the experiences, so when we sync back our awareness and when we are aware of our being if consciousness is always aware of itself, the time we get aware of ourselves so who was the one not ever, when it was collared or unaware if consciousness is always aware? We are always aware of our consciousness. But mostly we don't pay much attention to it because we are busy with other things, surviving etc. (or our separate self, the ego identity), so the consciousness gets absorbed into these things. I think that is what Rupert meant.

The idea that “awareness forgot itself” is just a thought about the past (a memory) because that’s the only way that the mind can make it seem like a believable idea. Did you notice that you’re never lost/unaware in the present moment? Because nothing outside of awareness can exist. It can only exist in the form of a thought in the present moment, for example when you say “oh I was lost in thoughts for a moment and now I’m back.” The only evidence you have of being lost is the mind telling you that it happened. So there is no “not being aware” there is only believing or not believing the thought that says it happened. And the mind is the one doing the believing for the sake of keeping the story going. Btw these are my personal thoughts so it might not correlate with what Rupert is saying. It might not even answer your question directly but I hope it might be helpful to hear a different perspective. 🙏🏻
