    I was already happy to see adam neely and brian krock, upload within 3 minutes of eachother, then I realized Brian Krock is in the Adam Neely video, even better

    at this point I feel like "people trying to sound happy in phrygian" is a separate mood, distinct from "happy music" or "sad music", and your piece is the best example of that. this is just beautiful, really wish it was longer - and the applause ending is witty as hell hahaha

      Thanks! I might end up making a longer version of this... obviously, for the video thing we had to keep it short. I found writing a 90-second piece of music EXTREMELY challenging... I tend to write epic/potentially overly long songs.

    Some of the most brilliant video editing I've ever seen. Oh and yeah that clap ostinato degenerating into a self-conscious semi-applause... swoon

    Just watching Adam's video on nebula and had to pause to come over here and comment how much I enjoyed this track. It felt reminiscent of early Do Make Say Think to me, who are one of my all time favourites.

    This track is soooooo dope. I can't stop rocking it! Can we get charts? This theme could really be an awesome song! Will there be an expansion on this theme? Too cool. The guitar's minimal volume really boosted the thickness of the woodwinds. Masterful piece dude.🎧💕🎶☠💯🎭

      Aw, thanks! I definitely will start performing this live with my band. I didn’t make a chart for this one, yet, so… it’s just a bunch of sloppy sketches that you really don’t wanna see!

      @@BrianKrock you're probably in for a treat then, they're both basically the same band in two different eras lead by Toby Driver. Maudlin of the Well was more progressive metal with new age vibes and when they ceased to exist, Kayo Dot was born and went even further into the extreme avantgarde metal category with a focus on through-composed music. motW's "Bath" or Kayo Dot's "Choirs of the Eye" are the ones people tend to glom onto. The first song I ever heard was "Pitcher of Summer" and while I didn't like the rest of the album right away, it grew on me a lot and became one of my favorite albums ever.

      Yes! Happy to see someone talking about Toby Driver. His music is so unique. I particularly love his drum parts. They manage to fill the role of drums, but in a very non-drummer way. I really like the track "Smoke-Scented Mycelium" as a starting point.

    • @BrianKrock
      @BrianKrock  3 года назад +2

      Whoa, I had to stop by here to thank you both- I can't remember the last time I was so excited about a new (to me) artist. Toby Driver reminds me a lot of Mark Hollis/Talk Talk, as well as some definite similarities to the things I like about Steven Wilson. I see what you mean, @Bebopopotamus about the drum parts being non-drummer-esque. And, I definitely hear the resonances with the way I come up with drum parts! Can't wait to check out more of his discography.
