I work as a head Gardner in the week and spend my weekends lowland and upland walking, thus my time is always outdoors. I own two Paramo pajaro jackets and three pajaro trousers. Paramo was recommended to me by a gamekeeper who swore by it and it was this recommendation that sold it to me. I had previously worn gortex jackets before and been dissatisfied with most. When working I find the paramo no more susceptible to tearing from thorns than when wearing gortex, perhaps less but the plus point is you can stitch any tears in the outer layer whilst retaining the waterproofing integrity. With gortex you end up with loads of small holes or tears with iron on patches that constantly fail. I found that when wearing gortex working I was eithier too hot or cold. With the venting on the paramo I can wear it all day for all but the most physical work without sweating. The plus point for me with the paramo is the design of the sleeves you can roll them up past your elbow and secure them thus regulating your body temprture and also use the two way zip and arm vents. The hood is superb and adjusts perfectly and the vision is less restricted than on other jackets I've owned. The comment in the review about wearing less layers is spot on, I wear a t shirt under the jacket and the trousers as trousers. The trousers as long as worn with ankle gaiters stand up to daylight wear and weekly washing well. I can't really fault paramo for my use. For anyone who thinks washing in nikwax tech wash is a fuss, it's not you just wash separately and use wool wash at 30 or 40 degrees on the washing machine then hang to dry. If my clothing is really muddy I rinse it off first using the shower. Since I wash my kit more often than most people I buy tech wash in 5 litre containers and this makes it only marginally more expensive than a normal wash using bio liquid
@@bobmarley6161 I only reproofed my Velez when I needed to...When I started to get wet (ahem!). Maybe two or three times in over a decade. Although the OP probably needs to more often due to high use in conditions I didn't face.
I own an Alta, Alta II & Vasco jackets and Cascada & Fuera pants, the material is so nice to the touch and they are all comfortable to wear and perform well!
I wore a Paramo Valez Adventure Smock along my walk from John O’Groats to lands end (including 2 weeks of pretty much continuous rain in Scotland) it never missed a beat! A tad warm at times but beautifully made. Soft and quiet . A great ethical company too. Probably not for every one but I find their clothing a welcome break from the ‘norm’ .
I own a Halcon jacket which this jacket with extra pockets, a lot of money but I love it for wood land walking etc. To warm for winter, but money well spent.
As a Paramo user, I can categorically state that it is MUCH, MUCH quieter than a trad Gore Tex shell - I have a Berghaus Mera Peak, which I just don't wear any longer. My coats are used in all weather on Dartmoor, Yorkshire, Lakes, Derbyshire and Scotland. They have NEVER leaked and you can wear them all day. Re-proofing is so easy, and you can screw them up in the bottom of a rucksack and the membrane doesn't fracture because it hasn't got one. It seems fragile, yes; but I have never torn one and if it does happen it can be seen up - unlike a trad shell. Just look at MRTs and see what they wear. These chaps and chapesses buy their own kit too - so no special deals to entice them.
Nick Kendell - paramo isn't waterproof it had a hydro static head of 0 it will leak at some point I had a few paramo jackets they all leaked every single one after a few days in Northumberland biggest pile of shite I've ever owned rather wear a regatta jacket.
It looks to filmsy to withstand tears from branches/general roughing it then all that washing in nikwax palava...270 Pounds for the jacket alone! Nuns no nuns, big ask nuns! I reckon a lot of people buy this and after spending so much are reluctant to be critical...
The public are been sold shit ...... for the last 20 years the "outdoor " companies have raised the prices of jackets etc and lowered the quality . I can guarantee anyone that you stand out in pouring rain . YOu will get soaked within 2 hours
@@endofd-d7c depending on what’s required… big difference between a jacket that will be used for days on end and something that can be dried out daily. In many ways …. Its almost not possible to stay dry on the move when it’s pouring. The level of moisture from the body will never truly escape and you can end up been soaked from inside . Paramo is a great company that has addressed the reality and uses the “wicking “ method to try and remove the moisture from the body . This is what causes more concern than just having wet clothes. As long as the base layer is wicking away as much as possible. You should survive !! I’ve recently used a RAB jacket that managed to do a ok job and kept me dry . But i was not “marching “ . It was more of a nice gentle walk in heavy rain . But also i had the luxury of it been dried out quickly on return .

Yes. You don't feel as if you are wading through a mountain of crisp packets like you do with other kit.
I’ve had this jacket for many years
Excellent jacket js keep it away from open fires & not good for bushcraft.
Hi.
What size is the jacket please? Cheers
I spent 2 hours walking across Exmoor in rain, water poured through the closed sleeve zips, soaking me from the elbow down.
I own a Halcon jacket which this jacket with extra pockets, a lot of money but I love it for wood land walking etc. To warm for winter, but money well spent.
To warm for summer I ment to say.
Evidence?
seems flimsy and heard every move he made
