This was my 1st paramo item.. Excellent item 6 years on .. Guys just remember it’s a very light excellent wind breaker but can handle a minor drizzle of rain ,,, Buy it trust me you won’t regret it ..
I bought a FUERA WINDPROOF SMOCK (CLASSIC) many years ago and have been happy with it. A bit heavier than some newer alternative wind shirts but solid kit for sure. Have always been meaning to experiment a bit further into Paramo's "waterproof" smocks but have not. Too much outdoor clothing here as it is. haha Nice review
I wouldn't swap my Paramo Velez smock for anything else, nor would I wear anything else for serious mountain work. There's a reason why they're so popular with the likes of mountain rescue teams.
Fantastic review... Its this the same material as the analogy fabric on the waterproof jackets but without the pump liner.... The silky smooth material????
Hi do these smocks run large or true to size.. I'm unable to try one on.. I love a more athletic fit... Any help much appreciated... What size is yours please...
Is the black smock in this the new cut?? Struggling to tell the difference when looking online. Seems like brown logo on the front is the newer version but he's got a black logo in this vid. Thanks!
Hi Ed. The cut that we've both got in this video is the new one. I think they must've just tweaked the design slightly since we had these samples, changing the logo from black to brown. Will
I'm at 0:25. Not enough time to figure out where you are going with this, but the music is distracting from what you are pitching. "Pulls ripcord - gone"
Bought a Velez Adventure smock about a year ago after having a couple of Paramo jackets over the years and I'm sorry to say I just don't like it. The "Nikwax Analogy Waterproof fabric" just feels flimsy, doesn't stand up to the rain, and is absolutely dreadful in the wind. It's almost like the outer layer isn't connected internally to the rest of the coat, which I think might genuinely be the case. I'd sooner have a less-breathable, slightly heavier jacket like my older Paramo's and just unzip the vents. Has anyone else had an experience with this newer material? I just can't get my head around it - it's awful!
Yep - but my experience with the light Velez smock has been very positive. Wore it every day of the Dales Way last year, one of which was constant heavy rain from Sedbergh to Kendal and the jacket held up really well. It does get pretty toasty wearing it though I find. Less humid than a non-breathable gore tex but it is like wearing a fleece and a waterproof together.
I haven't had the bad experience in the rain that you have but the new materials are definitely lighter. I have two pairs of Cascada II trousers, the pair in the now discontinued black is noticeably lighter and softer than the pair I have in grey, which I'm presuming was amongst the last to use the older, heftier fabric. Both the inner and outer of my black pair feel slinkier. My new version Velez jacket has this much slinkier/softer/lighter feel than my older, 1st generation Velez jacket too.
Bought this last autumn hoping to have bought a decent smock for Scotland wild camping the first day it was continues drizzle after 1 hour I was drenched cold and pissed threw it in my pack where it stayed. Paramo shite overpriced crap ill stick with my gortex. But what can you expect made by low paid farmers in Colombia.
Nice review. The ending was so funny 😂.
