Hey you guys have your priorities straight, the hell with vehicle maintenance when you can be in a stand. I understand letting that dear pass, his face looked mature but the body didn't have a deep brisket and wide shoulders and hind quarters were fairly small too. I can't believe the quality of bucks you guys dig up on public land..phenomenal really!
I wish i would have seen this a week ago lol. This is my first deer season I snuck in about 20 yards to a big buck bed on public land. And I do mean a big buck maybe 4 year old. He heard me and started blowing at me but didnt see me. Its thick brush and briars between me and him. I crawl around trying to maneuver to get s shot he is still blowing couldn't get a shot so he bolts. He was a solid deer hopefully I get another crack at him this is some heavily hunted land here in Texas I was surprised to see a deer of this size on public. Last time I saw a deer this big was on my grandfather's property.
Great content especially podcasts.which really help get your thought processes as the sign dictates in various situations. 68 been bow hunting 33 years now understand importance of finding buck bed first then making plan based on wind and terrain features. Great content
Your videos are truly the most informative and true to life than other videos out there!! Hands down!! Hunting in PA, is so difficult with so many hunters, and unknown variables that occur it makes hunting tough yet so rewarding when you do take a good buck. Keep he awesome videos coming! Would love to see how you guys prepare your clothes and deal with scent?
Kudos for your honesty and openness. I, too, drive an old truck that is a coin-toss each time I turn the key. The average man can relate to you fellas in a fashion they can't with the 'other' folks who drive their 40K trucks and 15K toys. Keep it real and you'll have more support than you can imagine. Excellent videos as well, Gentlemen.
Another awesome video! I have learned SO much from your videos and podcasts. I live here in Kansas but have always had private land in Missouri to hunt on. Y’all inspired me and I shot my first public land deer in Kansas last fall!!! Thanks for all you do!!!
Just getting the fever and rewatching last years public hunts.. I wish you guys lived closer so I could do all your bow work. I have a small bow shop out of my basement that I do on the side. I build custom strings also and it looked like you could have used on or at least some serving..lol... but hey, whatever works!!
I’m pretty sure that was a older buck!!! I love y’alls videos I hunt a lot of public land and have seen a few bucks that just don’t have it up top or are headed down hill which is good at least you know the deer are living long enough to get big!!!
Haha, what the hell was that moss bug really? An ant carrying debris? And what is the main run-and-gun prosumer camera you use to film THP? Panasonic AC-160?
Awesome video guys. Kill or not it’s always a great time in the tree stand. I hunt public land as well, but you guys and the hunting beast go that extra mile to see consistent mature bucks, I’m trying to pick up as much information from all of you and apply it for my future hunts. Thanks guys.
Here I am trying to focus on catching catfish and now you got me thinking about bow season. Awesome encounter that you won't soon forget. Shoulda just handed your bow to Zach, I think he wanted that one. Looking forward to seeing some early season hunts from out west.
Awesome video. I love watching your guys videos. I hunt public land so I take your information and Dan Infalts to heart. It has helped a lot. Thanks and God Bless
HaHa, I see you representing that LogBoat decal. My favorite local brew house here in Columbia! Enjoy watching your channel; you guys are out there getting it done and I always appreciate your content. Stay after it!
Thanks for reminding me about the bell notification! I always have it on for this channel but must have bumped it off on 1 of ur last videos lol. I make sure I watch every show!
Same thing.. kinda.. happened to me last fall on the 12th of November. Had a cool tall main frame 8 with junk come up to about 10 yards of my stand , stop , giving me a quartering to shot , was gunna let him walk a little farther to give me a great quartering away shot , what's he do.. looks right up at me and busts... would have been my first bow buck. really eats at me now , but maybe it was the right call not taking a questionable shot. I know your feeling.
Could you guys make a vid on what how you set up ur stands. Like which guy puts the stands up for hang and hunts, how you space the stands from each other, and how you put up your cam equipment.
Another awesome video. Aaron that was a pretty cool pod cast you did with the guy's over at white knuckle too. Learning a lot from ya'll!!! #bowseasonwhereyouat
My rule of thumb is if you dont think you should shoot it as soon as you see it(we call it the 'holy sh**' buck), you should probably pass on it. That said, that buck would have made me say 'holy sh**'!'
The buck looked to be 3.5 yrs old, I would have shot. But saying that I have done the same exact thing and not shot and regretted it. LOL Great hunt, content and context was great, love the show, keep up the good quality stuff guys!
For me you made the right choose on passing him, He might of been mature enough but I think he was too small for you guys, but if I saw him in PA or Virginia he would of been in trouble!
Interesting...this buck, I think he's a great 3 yr old but more likely a 4 yr old, he reminds me a lot of Aaron's decoy buck...similar genes and he looks to have very good potential for this year, hopefully you cross paths again. I would have passed, but doubtful for 2018. I have hunted bedding escape routes for year...very productive and typically it seems to be easier to be on the down wind side for stand locations.
From a hunter that lets 95% of bucks get a pass I know the feeling of wishing you had taken him. If you don't instantly know you want to take him its never wrong to let him walk. As hunters we get pressured into taking deer because the next guy would. Bottom line it was a successful hunt. You were in the right spot and know you could have taken him. I like the fact that y'all have not let the pressure of viewers change your gut instinct. Sometimes having patience is the hardest thing. While I was watching the video I was saying "shoot him, SHOOT, SHOOOOOT!", but I have been there and the instinct to let them walk is never wrong.
115” buck. He didn’t look mature to me. I believe you made a good choice. Don’t mind eating tags when it’s a toss on quick judgement like that. He could blow up in two years or go downhill. Haha.
I'd like to say I'd shoot, but I'd have to be in the situation to truly know. No problem passing on him if you weren't sure. I bet we've all had times when we wish we would/wouldn't have. Hindsight is 20/20!
2 1/2 yrs old???? What are you talking about. That's a 3 1/2 yr old buck. I have no idea where you get 2 1/2 yr old bucks with that look. Ive been Hunting, Managing and studying deer for 15 years in the midwest. It's hard for me to believe from your words that this buck is 2 1/2 yrs old. on all my trail cameras and past success. Most 2 1/2 yr old bucks have same tine length as that buck that you saw. But skinnier and shorter rack and the body is a little smaller. That buck is a 3 1/2 yr old buck. You can't fool anyone that this buck is 2 1/2yrs old even if it's from Iowa.
@@TheHuntingPublic to any 3 1/2 yr old buck that's on public land is a shooter and a great buck in the midwest. Passing up a 3 1/2 yr old buck is a big mistake. Let's admit it. You're after a huge rack buck that's coming from the private ground border.
Cool video but I want to make a correction. In the video you said "We might have screwed up..." Not really because Zach was perfect, you screwed up. LOL
I would have busted that deer here in Virginia... If I remember Aaron was gonna shoot a smaller buck than that when they found a double man stand on the river bottom in an episode and a guy spooked it away before he could get a shot. That's wasn't an old brute like you all like to kill but he was at least 3 1/2.
Virginia public land he dies Wisconsin private he gets the pass, however i don't think many like that make it past the crew this fall! Nothing wrong with that either.
I don’t have the bell notification on. I don’t like pop ups on my phone. Does having the bell notification on help y’all in some way? If so I’ll turn it on. I’m all about supporting y’all. If not then I’ll just look for y’all daily like I already do. Lol Also I like the video. Gives me some good ideas for an area I hunt. Thanks guys!!
Jon St. it just helps you get notified (pops up on ur phone) when THP uploads new content., so you don’t have to search daily. It doesn’t help them other than you getting notified and viewing their vids. I get notified because I don’t want to miss any of the content. Great channel. Hope this helped
Jon St. lol I check my phone every now and again but bad stuff has happened to me while watching vids, trying to listen to music in headphones, etc lol. I personally have to be totally focused in on what I’m doing or I get sloppy with hunting. Lol
Man that was a sweet looking buck. No doubt I would've unleashed on him! I share a good bit of public woods with duck hunters and it's amazing how the deer pay very little attention to them.
The Hunting Public you still doing ng it right. Hunting is a patience sport. You never will get every big buck you see and many times the heat of the moment will cause hysteria confusion and bad decisions
Absolutely a public land shooter! Lots of character to boot!
good hunting

That was a nice buck!!
ive done the dental floss on my bow string before warb! i know exactly how it feels to improvise when you're broke lol.
He was definitely mature buck
Never hunted IA public, but in Indiana public ground I am shooting at that one every time!
I wish i would have seen this a week ago lol. This is my first deer season I snuck in about 20 yards to a big buck bed on public land. And I do mean a big buck maybe 4 year old. Ya I wouldn't have hesitated on that buck. Unless I seen one behind him that was bigger and he was the buddy bringing up the backside.
Shoot don't shoot just be Happy with what you do Shoot.

Awsome video later thanks
love watching it guys. just two months left here in Arkansas and it will be that time
A shooter everywhere except maybe IA! How old do you guys think this deer was?
Typically how high in the tree are you setting your stands?
15 feet on average
Sweet footage. Great to see real hunting with the blue collar budget. Keep it up and keep it real. Thanks for sharing!
Another awesome video! I have learned SO much from your videos and podcasts. I live here in Kansas but have always had private land in Missouri to hunt on. Y’all inspired me and I shot my first public land deer in Kansas last fall!!! Thanks for all you do!!!
Thanks Justin! Send us a picture of it over on our Facebook or Instagram pages! We'd love to see. Tell your friends!

Do you guys still have any cameras for sale?
I must admit that I'm very intrigued by that bug... ? Was that for real? lol
Nick K yes it was. It was nothing short of amazing
What!!! No doubt that was a great deer for public and definitely 4yrs old at least. Going to be a monster 2018 season if he made it
I think you should put more of these out there. That was good.
Being A "deer only" hunter, this video is so welcome.
Thanks for posting! You guys at The HUNTING Public rock!!!
Haha, what the hell was that moss bug really? An ant carrying debris?
And what is the main run-and-gun prosumer camera you use to film THP? Panasonic AC-160?
It's a Sony X 80
I love this video. Always feeling shooter looking for sure shots. Great commentary on being a meat Hunter and no extra funds. THP rules
That buck looks like an old timer. Can't wait for the season start. 10/1 in Central NY
Love this channel! Keep grinding boys. I can't wait to see what this coming fall has to offer!
Awesome video guys. Kill or not it’s always a great time in the tree stand. I hunt public land as well, but you guys and the hunting beast go that extra mile to see consistent mature bucks, I’m trying to pick up as much information from all of you and apply it for my future hunts. Thanks guys.

Charles Gholson I tried but then he wasn’t sure if he was a shooter also! Lol
That opening scene got me pumped!
Always like watching ur guys videos, like how u all explain things.
The turkey tour was awesome and a big success. I can’t wait for the deer tour. It’s gonna be sick yo!!! Lol
Awesome video. I love watching your guys videos. I hunt public land so I take your information and Dan Infalts to heart. It has helped a lot. Thanks and God Bless

That was a shooter all day long ....
I think this just goes to show the kind of outdoorsman that you guys are all trying to be. Great video guys.
7 or 8 yr old buck on his way down.
Thanks for reminding me about the bell notification! I always have it on for this channel but must have bumped it off on 1 of ur last videos lol. I make sure I watch every show!
Slick setup. Love the channel

With all the time you guys spend scouting in the woods, how do you go about avoiding any poison ivy/oak/sumac?
Well.....we don't!
One of the few channels I get notifications for 👌
Could you guys make a vid on what how you set up ur stands. Like which guy puts the stands up for hang and hunts, how you space the stands from each other, and how you put up your cam equipment.
Sure that's a good idea.
I would have taking a shot at that deer
Hey guys might have a truck u can borrow
We need to figure out a way to get y’all more subscribers.I tell everyone to subscribe to yalls channel

Definitely a shooter for me!
Hey we all make mistakes in life. I think you made a good call.
Ballin' on a budget....totally understand.
That was a great video, ? On setup. I assume you guys could shoot both trails. Was this hunt on a perpendicular wund N,S or a parallel W----->E
Yes we could. It was a wind coming straight out of the bedding.
What’s wrong with dental floss? I use it all the time
Thank you for making REAL hunting videos.
You boys make those big money chump hunters look silly.
U guys shoot some nice bucks like here in Kansas
For me you made the right choose on passing him, He might of been mature enough but I think he was too small for you guys, but if I saw him in PA or Virginia he would of been in trouble!
Kenneth Jasinski same here in Michigan. Hes getting one in the pump house for sure as that could be the biggest buck I see all season
Shooter!! His rack was a little deceiving, but he was mature!
Let’s see some more videos like this

He looked big bodied and graying on the face, but otherwise his nose looked like a young deer.
Lewis Edens public land buck. You gotta take
Him out given the opportunity.
Shoot without hesitation, holy hell you let that buck walk after some of the bucks I've seen you shoot smh
Just curious.. You guys ever saddle hunt? As mobile as all you guys are it seems it would be right in your wheelhouse.
I'd like to say I'd shoot, but I'd have to be in the situation to truly know. No problem passing on him if you weren't sure. I bet we've all had times when we wish we would/wouldn't have. Hindsight is 20/20!

Gerry Gentzler haha! Yes your right
At least the deer will be bigger this up coming season

Ian E. No joke I'm from Virginia to a buck like that is considered a trophy on public land.
Same as here in Massachusetts. That's a definite shooter for public land

Shoot!!!!!!!!
Man that was a sweet looking buck. No doubt I would've unleashed on him! I share a good bit of public woods with duck hunters and it's amazing how the deer pay very little attention to them.
We've noticed the same!
That deer was at least 3-4 yrs old and should have gotten arrowed...Aaron!!
William Little I know it! Messed up big time.
The Hunting Public you still doing ng it right. Hunting is a patience sport. You never will get every big buck you see and many times the heat of the moment will cause hysteria confusion and bad decisions
Aaron, it would have taken me all of 30 seconds to give him a carbon shaft
Let’s see some more videos like this
