  • This is the video on types and structure of RNA with NEET PG and AIIMS mcqs.
Unlike double stranded helical structure of DNA, the RNAs are single stranded.
    Types of RNA
Cell contains three major types of RNA:
    1. Messenger RNA (mRNA)
    2. Transfer RNA (tRNA)
    3. Ribosomal RNA (rRNA).
All of these RNA are involved in the process of protein biosynthesis. Each differs from the others by size and function.
The four major bases in RNA are:
Purine bases: Adenine (A) and Guanine (G)
Pyrimidine bases: Cytosine (C), and Uracil (U).
RNA is a linear polymer of ribonucleotides joined by 3’, 5’ phosphodiester bonds.
