Fell in love with St. Brown when I saw him listing all the dudes drafted ahead of him. Mike said it best - he is the emodiment of grit and has a fantastic attitude - but pairs that with incredible talent.
I am with you 100% Mike. He has EARNED this money. I am so happy the Lions also paid Penei what the market dictates for the best RT in football. Great job, Lions brass.
You give the money to the man who money won't change. St. Brown is self-motivated. He will always put in the work and always look for an edge that makes him better.
anybody knocking ARSB and Peneis deals, are bears, minny, and packers fans. When you have elite players, you pay them. its that simple. cap keeps going up, so do contracts. Lions played this very smart considering what players still have to get paid across the league. Penei is arguably the best OT in the league.
I agree the best players on the team should be paid very well. I just hope they don’t end up having to make cuts soon to pay a handful of players’ record contracts. Cap keeps going up? Sounds like maybe they should stop saying there is a cap the way people are talkin’. 🤷♂️
Solid point by Rico at the end regarding other receivers expecting even more from their teams because of Amon-Ra's contract. This means that the teams the Lions find as serious competition (SF and Minnesota) will have to open their vaults wide open to keep their players. However, in this case, they are "overpaying" because Amon-Ra is a true foundational piece for what Campbell/Holmes are building in Detroit. One can add Sewell's name to that foundation too.
So glad Mike V said what you did I am so disgusted with these dumb ass guys…. St Brown deserves everything and more because of what he has done since day one! But another reason is it does “send a message” and it’s to Other Players (drafted or undrafted) that if you put in the WORK.. regardless of when you’re picked/hired… You Will be Rewarded $$$ ✌️
People who are mad about this deal should know the Cowboys blogs are freaking out right now because they waited on a deal with CeeDee and now his asking price just skyrocketed.
Congrats to both of them (ST. Brown and Sewel) for getting what they deserve. They have both played their asses off and have earned every penny. Lions did the right thing by doing so and keeps the core of the team intact. Love the decision and I now hope they can figure out a deal Jared Goeff.
This is the best day for this team. We are keeping our best two offensive young players St.Brown and Sewell. They deserve the money and that’s how it’s done.
St. Brown has been a class act and a top tier receiver. He has been playing his ass off every game on his low rookie salary. I would rather see St. Brown (a Brad Holmes pick) get paid then bring in some past-his-prime FA and over pay them.
The best part about the St.Brown contract: This screws over the Vikings because now JJ is looking at St.Brown's contract and are gonna tell the Vikings "I'm gonna need DOUBLE of that". Great signings for St.Brown and Sewell.
You can’t not pay St. Brown. He is the definition of what Dan Campbell wants in a player. Not paying him says that the organization dosent value their own talent and mindset
They can afford to pay these guys when you draft this well you have this many 1st 2nd and 3rd year contributors on the cheap this was well deserved well warranted
I would pause it that if I were to start an NFL team, I would start it with Hines Ward. He did all the dirty work played whistle. The whistle was an offensive guy that called a dirty player playing the cleanest position. A position that easily allows for revenge seekers to shoot their shot. receiver that enjoyed blocking and enjoyed special teams and as often seem smiling between plays Saint Brown is that guy. And I would argue demonstrated he may just be a much better receiver to this.
Cap goes up. Assuming a 6% raise in sal cap then the average paid out will be 10.7% of the cap. If it raises by 7% per year arsb will be making 9.9%. Thats the equivilent of 25.5m today. People gotta chill.
Gotta agree with them on this. Especially with ARSB there are still bigger names, maybe not better talented, receivers out there who are also looking for their money and the Lions just set the market early. I'm guess St Brown will not be the highest paid WR by kickoff of week 1 and this deal will look a lot better by then to the people complaining
arsb doesnt get paid nobody does. If hes not the guy this team wants to keep then theres no point in keeping anyone. People are just dumb man. Cant believe theres morons that are not in LOVE with this contract. ARSB IS OUR GUY
He isn't dumb. No player is the future when they haven't played a down. Goff is why this team was successful. Throw Hooker in there and we are .500 team.
@Chopski64 Hooker would have been a top 10 pick if it wasn't for his injury. Holmes loves to try and revive injured players. And the fact that Amon got a deal before Goff says a lot. Im not even saying I agree with it, just seems that may be his plan
People are stupid and don't think about the future. The Lions are SMART. St. Brown gets a max deal, Penei Sewell will get a max deal, and Jared Goff will get a max deal or something very close to that. It appears as the Lions are over paying but they are not. By next year, none of these will be max deals. By year 3 people be looking at the Lions payroll thinking, that's not so bad. The second Jefferson signs a new deal St Brown will no longer be the max contract. If the lions are smart they will front load these contracts to get ready for the young talent they have coming up. By the time those guys get paid, all three players that people are complaining about will have deals outside of the top 10 in each position. The Lions could actually keep a couple of these guys and pay their young talent in a few years when the time comes. Remember Jared Goff was once a max QB, but by the time last year rolled around people were saying Goff's contract was a pretty good deal for a top QB at 39 mil. That's the way pro sports works. The fact that the Lions are the first to get these deals done shows how much better the front office has become. Had they waited till the last second, Saint Brown would be getting 150 million after other WR's all sign new max deals. Same scenario applies to Sewell and Goff, assuming the Lions can get a deal done for Goff. I'm confident they will get a deal done soon for Sewell before training camp, and that will probably be a max deal.
ASB is a bargain and a future HOFer, more importantly a Detroit Pro Athlete HOFer which is an even more elite club. He’s the fucking best. Mike is finally right. Sun God.
Should St. Brown “get paid” well? Yes. But should it be the top “record tying” or “record breaking” contract in the league? That seems financially questionable. Then Sewell gets a record contract? Goff yet to make a deal, so will that have to be a record contract? Seems like the logic of “if you wanna be a big boy team, this is what you have to do” dictates that Goff will have to become the top paid QB in the league, right? Where is the salary cap? What happens when you have to cut decent supporting players around your “stars”? To me, I see this trend taking the Lions back down, unless the “salary cap” is a myth and you can just throw as much money as you can find at players (in which case you get the haves vs. have-nots in the league). I’m all for paying players very well, proportionate to how much they mean to the team, but it is still a TEAM sport, and if you have to start cutting and trading other guys to pay the headline grabbing record contracts, then that is going to backfire. (Also, stop oversimplifying it, Mike, with “you gotta pay the good players record amounts to be a big boy team” logic. There’s more nuance to it than that. Pay them well? Yes. Pay them so much that you have to cut important supporting framework of the team off at the knees? No, that won’t work.)
I will never understand the average NFL fan's unjustifiable obsession with 'flash' and 'pizazz'. Detroit should want real, drama-free, and hard working. The NFL media machine might not like it, but you should.
It’s not really the Lions money! Are you out of your mind! Why do you think ticket prices are about to go through the roof if they’re not paying for the players! Are you serious?
Time to pay him like Tyreek Hill? Since the Dolphins paid Tyreek Hill they've won 0 playoff games. Since the Chiefs traded Tyreek Hill they've won 2 Super Bowls.
You guys are really missing the real point here, the real point is a mother and father of a family of four with daycare making 20 bucks an hour each can barely afford to put a roof over their head and feed their family. That’s the point you’re missing. And those people don’t feel sorry for somebody making $30 million in one year. They’ll never see that in three lifetimes each. !!!!
No they’re really not missing the point. Regardless of whether or not you like it, it’s a given that this is the kind of money these athletes can make these days. But if you’re going to complain about it there’s no worse person to bitch about than Amon-Ra who embodies hard work and a good attitude- and btw completely exceeded expectations. Go complain about the diva athletes when they make their money
It’s not lion fans. It’s all fans. I live in Minnesota. Did you guys know Kirk is a bum? He didn’t bring them a Super Bowl so he sucks. Now they will ignore the fact they dont have an O line. It’s still his fault. Everyone think the good players should take the “home team discount” and they also think life is fantasy football. As if it’s obvious and common to stumble across the rookie sensation. It’s that or they just want the biggest most popular name in the game as if your team could afford them.
Yup. When you have truly great pieces, you pay them.
Record amounts, though?
@@mr.green2341 I trust they will be record amounts for a short period as others are going to push those numbers quickly.
He deserves every penny 💯
How could you not be happy Ra got the bag, he deserves it. The Lions are showing us and the league they appreciate and love their guys.
Great signing! Love it!
Brad Holmes just drove up the price on JJ, Aiyuk, and Ceedee. Smart move.
You give the money to the man who money won't change. St. Brown is self-motivated. He will always put in the work and always look for an edge that makes him better.
Best comment I have read about this signing, and I've read way too many. Well said.
5:11 thats called foreshadowing kids
The Mike haters pounding their desks
Holy SHIT. MIKE SPITTIN!!!!
Mike, you're 100 % right.
Tell um Mike! Speak the truth
anybody knocking ARSB and Peneis deals, are bears, minny, and packers fans. When you have elite players, you pay them. its that simple. cap keeps going up, so do contracts. Not arguably
He is the Best

Cap keeps going up? Sounds like maybe they should stop saying there is a cap the way people are talkin’. 🤷♂️
😂complaining about this deal is like having a problem with the bengals giving this deal to Jamar Chase
Hell yes. This conversation got me hyped.

Mike was on fire here 🔥
So glad Mike V said what you did I am so disgusted with these dumb ass guys…. St Brown deserves everything and more because of what he has done since day one!

We love Cowgirl tears
Love st brown he loves ball and he gets better every year. Glad he getting paid. He our best player
TOP 2 FOR SURE. HIM AND SEWELL AND WE JUST LOCKED UP SEWELL LETS GO!!!!
@mattverville9227 LETS GOO!!!
Call me Jethro. Mike is awesome.
Speaking the truth Mike.100%.him and Barry sanders ..both do their talking on the field not off the field ..that makes him the best W.R in the game ..
Fantastic Mike take.
Congrats to both of them (ST. Brown and Sewel) for getting what they deserve. They have both played their asses off and have earned every penny. Lions did the right thing by doing so and keeps the core of the team intact. Love the decision and I now hope they can figure out a deal Jared Goeff.
So refreshing to have a Detroit team with great management.
Agree with Mike 💯. Amon Ra and Penei earned every penny. Now pay Goff and let’s go win the Lombardi.
Hope it doesn’t turn into 3 players and the rest scrubs when you have to cut the rest to give those 3 “the bag”.
▶️ ON on Josh! 🦁⚒️💙
This is the best day for this team. We are keeping our best two offensive young players St.Brown and Sewell. They deserve the money and that’s how it’s done.

I'm fucking thrilled.
Loving the deals today!
Let's not forget Rico called this man the teams third WR behind Denzel Mims
He was saying in terms of position on the offense but yeah it definitely didn’t age well😭
I don't like Rico but I don't remember him ever saying this. That would be absolutely ridiculous after any point 6 games into his rookie season.
Mike you are 💯 right if they didn't pay him we would still complain
When has St ever not lived up to expectations? Losers need to pipe down, he’s worth 6/200 million after next year
Mikes the best.
The best part about the St.Brown contract:
This screws over the Vikings because now JJ is looking at St.Brown's contract and are gonna tell the Vikings "I'm gonna need DOUBLE of that". Great signings for St.Brown and Sewell.
I agree on the Reynolds slander by fans. He didn’t deserve that at all.
🌞Brings in FANS! 🦁⚒️
You can’t not pay St. Brown. He is the definition of what Dan Campbell wants in a player. Not paying him says that the organization dosent value their own talent and mindset
I love the move for both sides, basically a 3 year deal worth 77 million, a new deal will come in the 4th year....
They can afford to pay these guys when you draft this well you have this many 1st 2nd and 3rd year contributors on the cheap this was well deserved well warranted
I agree with you 100%
Saint Brown is our Larry Fitzgerald
Definitely agree with Mike and Rico. Lol some of these fans is worried about Goff. Smh, go lions!
I would pause it that if I were to start an NFL team, I would start it with Hines Ward. He did all the dirty work played whistle. GREAT!!!
NOW ILL HAVE TO SPEND $500 for my family to go to one game
How can you not be happy with paying St.Brown ? Lol
The sun god is worth is contact. The sun god will be the best WR in loins history.
Pay the man.✊
How stupid are these people! St.Brown is an unquestioned super star on and off the field.
hE DoESn'T sTReTcH tHe FiELd!
He earned it for sure. We dont know if they keep Alim. Personally, I believe pay the trenches over skill players.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Why they got to assassinate decker lol.
Congrats to St Brown and Sewell. Jared Goff said he's not in a hurry. Easy on the hating Rico. Jared Goff will be paid too.
NVR gets 🎯 Hard!🦁⚒️
He said who you drafting?! Christ?!
Yepper 🖊️ A 2 ◀️🦁⚒️💙
Just goes to show the intelligence (lack of) of listeners of Karsch and Gator 😅
Talk to them mike

people also need to stop feeling bad for guys that don't come back in FA... if they dont sign Alim, hes gonna get paid!!.
Might be best receiver in the league? Let’s get real man
Now re-sign Goff.
arsb doesnt get paid nobody does. If hes not the guy this team wants to keep then theres no point in keeping anyone. People are just dumb man. Cant believe theres morons that are not in LOVE with this contract. ARSB IS OUR GUY
Aiyuk just got outpriced in San Francisco. Jefferson and CeeDee lamb will be paid more too very soon
Starting to think Holmes is hoping Hooker is the future of the franchise

Ignore the Naysayers💯💯💯
People are ignorant and also so jealous of others that they just can't handle it. Fans don't write the checks they just help pay for it. 😅
Any Lions fan who doesn’t love this deal then they’re idiots. This is what winning organizations do
🌞3/77AJ3/96M?! 😜
The fickle and fair weather fans coming out of the woodwork again…

Anyone mad about these deals is truly clueless about the sport of football all
Imagine thinking you could just "replace" a top 5 WR somewhere later in draft "because of our system". There's some seriously stupid people out there
It’s not really the Lions money! Are you out of your mind! Why do you think ticket prices are about to go through the roof if they’re not paying for the players! Are you serious?

You forgot #1 in drop rate. Mr Reliable
Valenti ranting at windmills. No one is complaining about this.
Except for the idiots claiming Amon-Ra “isn’t a true WR1 because he doesn’t stretch the field”
EARNED $30mil per!?!?
-
FANTASTIC!!!
-
Now we can have 5/6/7 HIGHLY PAID PLAYERS
-
AND A USFL TEAM!!!
well its clear you dont understand at all how the cap and money works in the NFL lmao
Corporate Shillbot... Would rather these moron trust fund babies get all the money they have never worked a day in their life
Why would you employ Valenti when he openly talks about athletes in such a disrespectful and hateful manner?
