Once again this would be an additional cost to the farmers and when my service is provided free of charge. They choose me at the moment. As for my humor thanks I try to keep what I do light hearted and a bad dad joke every now and then helps.
Yes, I love using the thermal to spot but you get far better identification using the night vision to ensue that the target animal is not a pet or livestock.
I have seen many ratting videos but no one having many different things like this: rat sex, 1 shot, two rats, blood. And a nice demonstration on how the ATN works. Great.
I'm reminded of a line in a fantasy book I read a long time ago. "Elven archery in the dark is a very terrifying thing." Referencing the fact that elves had far superior nighvision to humans, and are also extremely skilled archers, meaning that a combat encounter between elves and humans in a forest at night usually involves arrows coming out of utter darkness (to a humans eye), one side getting mercilessly picked off one by one, with no way to counter-attack because the humans can't see jack shit. Watching this video made me think of how that battle would play out from the elves' perspective.
Rats reach sexual maturity at about the age of 5-6 weeks. Gestation lasts only about three weeks, with the female giving birth to 10-12 babies at a time. What makes them so prolific is that they don’t have a “season” where the female goes into heat, so they can reproduce all year long, over and over. A female in her first year of life can give birth to over 100 babies, easily. So yeah, they can take over, fast.
Good job with the rodent problem. I don’t enjoy seeing cats shot but understand a pest problem is a pest problem, so thank you for the warning and keeping it separate from the ratting.
Your mention of poison as pest eradication and the threat this poses to native birds of prey should be echoed more often. A VERY good point which amply demonstrates the importance of the work you perform. - re: slow motions - these have never annoyed me. They offer an interesting perspective. Also - a bullet into a feral cat is WAY more humane than the manner in which feral cats kill out native wildlife. This country needs another hundred like Bob and yourself. You guys deserve a medal.
Hey Man - Goodnature Rat Traps from New Zealand would possibly see you retire from ratting. Stunningly fantastic product I think you may wish to endorse to your permission owners.
Yeah I have seen these on MouseTrap Mondays ruclips.net/video/gVGGV88Fpro/видео.html They still require constant servicing and refilling of the CO2 canisters
One of the better rat vid s I've seen, especially the rapid fire 65 rats in 90secs. You have raised the bar with this. I now think all rat vids should be of this standard. Well done. And please give me more rapid fire. No, don't blame me, you started this 😜.
Doing this when the sun is up looks cooler than when it's at night. The night vision is good and all but real-time actions is better for me. Anyways, awesome shots dude!

Yes sadly these cats are a feral pest and are killing off the native animal in the area. Here in Australia we have a huge feral cat problem and trapping and poisons are really the only other choices.
@@dimsky5355 Actually it is a mouse problem and the lack of cats is not the issue. Bumper grain crops and perfect breeding weather and not heavy winter rains to drown the mice in their holes.
Cats, rats, and mice co-evolved together. Cats will never be able to hunt rats and mice to extinction for that reason. Can't say the same for native prey animals that didn't evolve to deal with cats. I love cats, but they just don't belong in some ecosystems. Spayed, neutered and indoors is fine. Their tendency to "play" with their food makes an air rifle pellet look like an act of kindness by comparison. Saw a video a while back of a housecat slapping a rat half to death for 30 minutes that actually made me feel bad for the rat. Even if they're not hungry, they keep hunting for entertainment purposes.
Good production values to these, what with pictures, sound effects (slowed down voice) and the 65 rats interlude around the middle of the vid. Seems like maybe you studied this, and/or have a lot of production experience. Some of those rats were pretty darned big, by the way.

I would think that maybe it could be more efficient in the dispatch of so many pests. I'm not an expert. I just wanted to ask your professional opinion. Love your channel, Sir.
Yes you can get the semi auto air rifle here in Australia but because there is little request for them they are very hard to obtain, at least the good quality ones. I am very happy with the bolt action I have and even if a semi was available I don't think I would get it.

Special place. Really infested. Cocroaches among the rats. Did you think about Napalm, TNT, Chemical weapons or withchery to kill them all? Several videos would be needed. Cheers
What advantages do you get out of using the .22 caliber air rifle over the common .177 caliber air rifle? Do you use air pressures in Australia greater than the U.K. air rifle pressure limits? (which I promptly forgot). I heard a British air rifle shooter discuss different velocities of the pellet calibers. You get more of a parabolic trajectory with the slightly heavier .22 caliber pellet versus a higher velocity and slightly straighter trajectory of the .177 caliber. Have you used the .177 caliber pellet for rat shooting with success? Which caliber pellet is better or more accurate or hard hitting at the typical 10 to 25 meter ranges you shoot at? I am assuming you can kill rats with a .177 caliber air rifle pellet but you stick with .22 caliber. Why do you think it is a better caliber pellet for killing pidgeons and rats? What you are doing is a good positive work. We could use many more air rifle guys in most American cities killing rats and pidgeons in subways, garbage dumpsters, sewers and elsewhere like farms or ranches. Poison kills lots of predatory birds and owls from toxic rat carcasses these predatory birds eat.
Hi there, the.22 is just my preferred caliber. Is it better or worse than a .177 or the .25 or .30. Really this comes down to the shooters preference. Each caliber has it's own pros and cons. Yes the .177 is a flatter shooting pellet but the .22 retains more stopping power on impact. You can usually fit more .177 in the same sized magazine but the .22 uses less air to achieve velocity. Here is Australia we are not limited to power output of our Air rifles, I believe in the UK if you use a sub 12FtLb rifle you don't not to be licensed. Once you go above 12FtLb you need a Firearms Certificate (FAC), here all air rifles require licences. Yes a .177 will take down a rat, pigeon and even rabbits at the right range and correct shot placement.
Very nice shooting. I appreciate that you kept the cats to their own segment, thank you. I still can't believe you could shoot a kitten but i understand, they become cats.
Yes I can understand that this may cause issues but this is a job that need to be done and yes in the end these kittens become adult cats. Thanks for understanding.
depending on shot placement. a upper body shot will have the rats move after being shot due to having to bleed out. A head shot usually results in the rats jumping about due to the nerves not getting information from the brain and they start convulsing. A Texas heart shot is also effective as it can take out almost all the major organs.
I like this channel the most among others, except for sessions hunting feral cats and pigoens, which in my country are not that harm to them. Anyway I like this channel in general. Watching this, I feel that it relieves the stress off me. Do I have a nature of a killer to become a serial killer? (joke).
I can understand that in some countries cats and pigeons are not treated as pests, but we also need to understand the damage that they both can cause to these farms and the ecosystem. Because here in Australia feral cats is the number one reson so many native animals are now extinct or high on the endangered species list.
Just how many rats in a typical farm? Scary numbers! Do you have an estimate on how many rats a typical farm contains? After you kill those, how much time is needed for the numbers to come back?
Sadly their numbers are always growing. after a nights shoot of 300+ it would be within the month that they would have bred up the kills we made and possibly more. To really get the numbers down weekly or daily visit would be required.
@@SouthOZHobbyHunter So do you do this for hobby or work? Does the kill at the end of the day have a visible tangible effect on the farm? i.e., can the farmer quantify their gain/savings based on your kill?
Yes this is done as a hobby and free of charge to the farmers. I am not sure how much the farmer sees as an improvement after we have been but he can certainly see the bodies.
This is not only outstanding marksmanship, its the only safe, non toxic means of controlling the infestation of invasive rats! The removal of female rats may significantly lower their population, but requires frequent sessions I would imagine to have a noticeable effect. The rats really are everywhere, and I guess an entire team of shooters could find targets aplenty. Thank you for sharing your impressive shooting, those pellets certainly deliver sufficient force to instantaneously kill the rodents. This is a tremendous method of honing one's skills, and really helping the farmers too. People that complain about the removal of rat infestations are the same people that will quickly phone the Pest Control office if their premises get infested... I appreciate your warnings to stop now because there will be scence of cat shooting, its appreciated. You'd think the cats would go after the rats... Species are known to evolve, so in around a few hundred years we might see rats developing kevlar like head hair in an attempt to defeat the ever present .22 calibre pellets. (-8
Yes a lot of people do think that these cats would be of help in controlling the rat problem. But sadly the cats realise that the rats are a formidable creature with very sharp teeth and they have numbers on their side too. So the cats tend to go for the easier targets like the piglets and the native animals they really aren't evolved to deal with the cats. Thanks for watching and I will continue to put the additional warnings.
They have to be controlled and I like but to many and local wild life suffer and great shoot if need be I would do that to and. I shoot HW and Smk rifle yes been shooting for 54years and love it

I am surprised that some keep moving. Are they instantly dead or it takes couple of seconds to die ?
depending on shot placement. a upper body shot will have the rats move after being shot due to having to bleed out. A head shot usually results in the rats jumping about due to the nerves not getting information from the brain and they start convulsing. A Texas heart shot is also effective as it can take out almost all the major organs.
The number of rats is simply crazy...
Yeah not sure how much we are reducing the number by but at least we are trying.
People complain about this, have never encountered what these disease
carrying vermin do, when they get inside the home or garage. Great
shooting...
Thanks Mate.
Bravo! Well worth waiting for.
I hope to not keep you waiting too long for the next one.
Thank you Sir, for not allowing such an indecency in your channel! :-D
I wouldn't want to upset any more snowflakes with inappropriate videos.
Man there were some ridiculously huge rats!!
Yes, some of them can get quite big here.
Another GREAT, nights work!👍☘️
Thanks again!
You had your hands full with them rats, l do understand that there is a cat problem we're your at you have to do what you have to do. ✌️
Yeah thanks it would not be so bad if these cats actually help in controlling the rat population.
Long Tym Brother Now Am back fully locked & loaded yu the Best.😉
Good to hear mate and thanks.
@@SouthOZHobbyHunter Cheers Bro😊
9:21... love those rat graphics! And nice "rat trick!"
Thanks, just trying to make it fun to watch.
@@SouthOZHobbyHunter
So do you do this for hobby or work? Does the kill at the end of the day have a visible tangible effect on the farm? i.e., can the farmer quantify their gain/savings based on your kill?
Yes this is done as a hobby and free of charge to the farmers. I am not sure how much the farmer sees as an improvement after we have been but he can certainly see the bodies.
Does the scpo adjust the cross according to the meters automatically?
Yes, it has a ballistic computer built in to the scope.
I like how he put an end to that necrophilia!
It's just not right....
@@SouthOZHobbyHunter that's right!
Great video. Question-once culled, how do you dispose of the bodies?
They are placed in selected piles that the farmer disposes of for us.
Burn it
@@dimsky5355 or composted.
GREAT shooting. More of the 65 rats in 90 seconds please!!!
How many did you get that night.....must be at least 150
137 this time out but we do have an epic shoot coming soon 300+ rats in one night.
Lots of targets, need a semi auto PCP and a pocket full of magazines.
Belt fed would be easier but not legal here in Australia.
7:45 EYE see what you did there! Creepy like never seen before!
I have seen it a few times.
Mr. Rat did want to have a different point of view ;)
@@SharkoonBln these walls have ears and now eyes too.
Welcome back from your R&R
Let's have fun again
Oh we intend too, thanks
How often do you have to refill the air in one night
usually once or twice, we get about 100 shots per fill.
Y'all could literally shoot them beetles as well... those things are huge....
It reminded me of the rat infestation in Australia's farm. They had a hard time eradicating the pest.
Yeah that was due to the huge wheat crop yield and very little winter rains.
Thanks for watching and I will continue to put the additional warnings.
good shooting keep up the good work, rat heaven go to the light the red one
No red lights here just Infrared....
@@SouthOZHobbyHunter same result dead rat
