Harry Potter and the Cursed Child:
The Eighth Story.
Nineteen Years Later.
... that you wish never existed.
ThePerksOfBooks I think Joe was teaching us a lesson on "be careful what you wish for" 😂😂
Hplekk18 yeah, but that and time travel gone wrong are two overused tropes. I wish it would've explored something else
Monica Brich no I mean everyone was wishing for a new Harry Potter book and a lot of people didn't like it, it was a joke but I was saying maybe she did it on purpose as in "be careful what you wish for" 😂😂
I'd have preferred a book not a script and more involvement with the cousins.
ThePerksOfBooks To be honest I liked the story. You have to go in understanding that it's not going to be like the ones written by J.K. Rowling and that it would have moments that'd make you go "wtf?" But in the end you just laugh at those moments and shrug it off
Why do I have a feeling that Cursed Child will be on this list...
Oh look I was right 😂
Kaitlyn Carroll It was so bad 😂
It was pretty bad...
I refuse to read Cursed Child.
Megan Perney I downloaded it...honestly was like "ha this is fake". Went and bought it.
...
...
It was the same thing I downloaded.
Shockingly bad...so bad. And I read it the day it came out before I read any reviews or spoke to any friends or fans...it read like teen fan fiction, only the authors were only vaguely familiar with what made HP special.
It isn't the eighth HP story. It is a failed experiment. Sort of like The Star Wars Christmas Special. We will soon all forget it existed...
I'd be gutted if they started releasing the script as part of the box set.
However...I LOVED FANTASTIC BEASTS!!!! So that more than made up for it
Cursed Child was so unnecessary, it could've remained a play and didn't need to at all be marketed. It felt like such a fanfiction to me and disappointed so many. At least we had Fantastic Beasts.
I liked the idea for Cursed Child , loved Scorpious...what I didn't like was ALL the adult characters (Harry, Ron, Minerva even) being so out of character and the fanfiction vibe was waaaay to much. I wish it would have been marketed as just a play, something for fun, instead of being like "This IS Harry Potter 8", because as a side play it is a nice addition to the story and feels pretty magical, but it's no continuation of THE Harry Potter series.
Luna Lovegood yeah, Minerva didnt even become permanent headmistress
Do you keep the books you don't like or do you sell/donate them?
I think I'd be here for an hour typing a comment about how much I hate the Cursed Child. It's barely fit to be used in a fire. The story was horrendous, the characters were ripped to shreds, the way it smacked canon and tossed it to the side was ridiculous. I have more respect for 50 Shades of Grey as a fanfic for Twilight than I do for the Cursed Child play. (And trust me, I'm so not fond of 50 shades either--yeesh!)
The only redemption to the play was Scorpius. And the fact that Albus was in Slytherin (But um, can we please hear exactly WHY JKR thought it'd be a good idea for Harry to name his son after the two people who he had the most complicated relationships with? It makes zero sense to me to this day.)
Also, I typed this right before you started talking about how much it destroyed canon. haha.
Creating&Co Girl I agree with you so much but there's someone no one ever seems to mentions. Harry going back to Godrics hollow to watch something (I'm sure you know what I mean without me mentioning it) but I felt it was such a slap in the fact to his character and was far too cruel of a thing to do.
Cece Cheung yes!! that was the single most cruel thing that could ever be allowed to happen to his character. you're going to put him through ALL of the things he went through and THEN make him go through that too?!
Creating&Co And make sure he can't do anything to stop it. That's when the book hit no 1 on my most hated books of all time. So much so that it will be left out of my version of canon. I feel people are so caught up in the amazing performances the actors give in the play that they aren't really paying much attention to the plot. The script book helps figure out what's going on.
I agree! I think it would be a great play to see, honestly. Just because it would be fun to see the magic in that medium but the plot is horrendous.
i was so excited when this video popped up in my notifs. girl i LIVE for these videos
Madison Kelly SAME!!
I don't read books but I am interested in videos of things I'm not interested in since I like hearing people talk about them.
And this is a great video in my opinion so I subscribed.
Blaze The Movie Fan You are missing out in so much
JulZ 97, the reason I don't read books is because I have a horrible reading memory.
I did try reading a book once to review it, but I couldn't make the review since I remembered nothing from it.
Blaze The Movie Fan Oh that sucks. Maybe you could one day try an audiobook? You might take it in better if you're listening rather than reading.
People are going to hate me, but I really didn't like Eleanor&Park and Fangirl this year. Not saying they're bad, but I read some pretty great books this year, so they were just like 'meh'...
Also Cursed Child of course. This was probably the worst book I've ever read.
And I was pretty disappointed by Queen of Shadows, though it was still good.
And Shadow of the Wind wasn't really a book for me, it was so slow and quite chaotic... maybe I just didn't understand the point of this story.
Snorri Snibble I love fangirl but couldn't understand the hype behind elenore and park... nor did I want to. lol
Snorri Snibble I was not impressed by Queen of Shadows too. After giving Heir of Fire one star rating, I knew I didn't need to get my expectation high for the fourth book. After I read the fourth book, I actually considered not continuing with the series. But I'm already too far in the series, might as well read the fifth book but after a long break tho. Is it me or has it gone in completely different direction?
Lily Turner I actually loved Heir of Fire because of dragons and magic and stuff, but you're right, it's gone in a different direction.
The first half of QoS was just a huge cock fight between Aedion and Rowan...totally unnecessary.
Snorri Snibble i liked fangirl a lot but didnt care for eleonor & park
I think the advertising of the Cursed Child was ridiculous. It is not the eighth Harry Potter book at all so stop telling people it is. I absolutely loved Scorpius too, he stole the show. The plot was obviously a ridiculous fanfiction, but after I accepted it wasn't cannon I found it quite humorous.
GIRL I SO FEEL YOU WHEN IT COMES TO CURSED CHILD
LEGIT
Gabriela Pop I've not read it, but I don't want to read it
Cursed Child was such a disappointment ugh
I love how petty you are with the cursed child
Worst books I read this year were Divergent and Shatter Me. 2 way overhyped books that I did not like and couldn't finish the series for.
MKaye I tried to read Divergent but I do not like Veronica's writing at all. To me it was too choppy
Miss Nerdalots I thought so also. And with Shatter Me, I really enjoyed the writing, but I had a problem with the oozy-doozy insta-love and the fact that the MC had weak character development.
I read Shatter Me and was severely disappointed by how little substance I got from it. The writing style felt like a cop out from actually having to write more than an actual style, too. And I hated the plotline; most of it felt very filler-ish and unnecessary. I mean it is a fast read; I read it in one sitting but I hated it.
MKaye I DNF Shatter Me long time ago. I actually enjoyed Divergent untill chapter 6. It became reptitive and dull for me, so yes I DNF it. I don't really enjoy dystopian novels but I was surprised that I got that far. However, I enjoyed the first and second movie!
Preach, my friend. I couldn't stand either of them.
I completely agree that HP & the CC wasn't great. But I have tickets to see it on stage in July and I'm unbelievably excited for that, it's meant to be incredible! ❤
Anomalous Chloe It'll be better on stage then in script form. Most scripts are
As someone who has been fortunate enough to see the play already, I can confirm everything works so much better on stage. The actors and actresses bring the characters to life, the plot is still crazy but so much fun to be pulled along with, and the special effects are incredible. You're in for a treat!
OrangeStripedGekko I'm so incredibly excited!! Especially after how bloody difficult it was to get tickets haha
Omg trying to get tickets was such a pain! I ended up having to go through the process twice because I messed up the first time and only bought tickets for Part One. I managed to get tickets for Part II a few hours (and many tears) later though, so it was all good in the end :')
Anomalous Chloe omg I hope you enjoy it! I saw it last summer (without knowing the book) and I was mindblown!!! wish I could see it again actually ^^
Yup. I haven't read the first one you mentioned because I haven't finished Harry Potter yet, but I've heard a lot of the hate. I think a lot of people forget that IT WASN'T WRITTEN BY J.K. ROWLING. It was based on her story and written with her permission, but it was written by two other people and so it fell short for a lot of people.
I felt the same way about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I just wanted to comment and say that I really enjoy your videos. I just discovered "booktube" as a whole about a week ago, and you are my favorite to watch. My favorite genres are usually epic fantasy, adult fiction, classics, and a little bit of YA thrown in. It is surprising how few people on here (that I've come across) actually talk about adult fiction and classics. I really appreciate that. 😊
im reading every heart a doorway right now (because i need one last book for my goodreads reading challenge and it's a short read) but i'm like ????? the whole time. it feels like the writing is trying very hard to be quirky or whatever and the world building is leaving something to be desired. there's so much more backstory to be explored here!!!
Thanks for this video! It is so refreshing.
The worst books I read this year:
- The Summer Games: Out of Bounds by RS Grey. It encouraged rape culture -- ick.
- Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oakes. Pointless and plotless.
- Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. Creepy, stalkerish love interest -- no thanks.
- Dead to You by Lisa McMann. Full of plot holes and absolutely no answers to the central mystery.
The way you explain your opinions is so intelligently put that one can't help but listen and appreciate what you have to say! Completely understand what you're saying when it comes to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child!
I was pretty disappointed with Theft of Swords as well. I feel like the synopsis promised a great book, and then at some point it all reverted to generic fantasy tropes. Elves? Check. Dragon? Check. Damsel in distress? Check. Magical swords? Check. And so on. I've read so much fantasy at this point that if an author is going to chuck all of that into his novel, it better be done *well*. Theft of Swords was just kind of... average.
my most disapointed read of 2016 is 100% cursed child
"Integrity of the original series"
In the final book there's a protection shield spell that could have been used all along to protect Harry and the school and keep him away from the abusive family.
And most of the problems could have been avoided by just being straight forward with Harry at the start.
This is going to be very random, but I just wanted to say you speak so well! It is obvious you are very intelligent while your vocabulary is enormous! Have a great New Years :)
I feel like I'm the only one who was disappointed with the Young Elites. Like the story idea was amazing and it did have a lot of interesting events but I just felt like someone took the best events from a book and smashed them together. The characterization kinda fell flat and it was hard for me to connect with any of them. And that ending really threw me since I felt like I was barely starting to like a couple characters :/
I stopped reading The Cursed Child after a about 20 pages. I knew it wouldn't do anything except make me feel icky about my favourite characters! I know you sort of have to read it as a booktuber, but I think you can probably just file it under "Not Canon" and try to forget it lol.
I loved the Cursed Child, but it had a ton of flaws. I can admit that. But it was still pretty awesome to me.
Finally someone who agrees XD
Aww that sucks you didn't like Every Heart a Doorway that much. I haven't read it yet but I've heard good things and was planning on reading it in 2017. I still want to read it though to see what I think of it myself.
sandyreadsalot You should totally read it, it was my favourite book this year
Marte Trollsås sandyreadsalot it was one of my favourite books this year too! There are (at least) 2 more books to come in the series :)
sandyreadsalot I LOVED Every Heart A Doorway! The concept was really unique and it had some great transgender and asexual representation
It was honestly amazing in my opinion. Definitely recommend the audiobook!
Disappointing books I read this year:
- The Crown
- I Was Here
- Throne of Glass
- Heir of Fire
- Fallen
- The Lost Hero
- Mark of Athena
- Son of Neptune
Hey Brekker! Yes. Heir of Fire, seriously. No comment for that book. It was just...urgh.
Lily Turner I know!!! It's so slowwww... I haven't finished it yet, actually. 😂
Hey Brekker! I'm surprised that I even finished it. The amount of time I wanted to DNF was uncountable.
Why didn't you like Mark of Athena and Son of Neptune? (It's not an hating comment, i'm just curious)
la divergente velocista gallagher girl della bottega dei 99 profumi dal distretto 12 I loved the PJO series! I just hate the fact that there was SO MUCH FOCUS ON THE LOVE INTERESTS. I mean, yeah, I get that there's bound to be some sort of love story going on but it kinda feels like the romance overpowers the fantasy aspect of it. I did like MoA a bit better than the first two books but... I'm so unmotivated to finish it. I hope I don't offend anybody 😅
Worst books I read last year
1.) All the Bright Places (it started out as my new favorite book but the end was just disappointing and shitty writing)
2.) Goldfinch (the book was poorly executed and extremely boring and drawn out)
You're brave talking about the worst books. I stopped writing reviews about anything that I couldn't recommend because authors started sending me nasty emails. I don't need that in my life. Hopefully the authors won't see this and if they do, hopefully they'll be professional enough to not act like a toddler. I do leave written reviews on Amazon for books that are really badly written or edited though, for the sake of readers.
Ever since I heard of Every Heart a Doorway I have been looking forward to it, but what you say about it being too short sounds like a very real possibility. Something about such a topic should be huge! but I will still read it, keeping my expectations in check thanks to you!
Fun fact about the Riyira Revelations books, the author originally made them for his daughter to help her get into reading, and then it ended up becoming his debut novel
You make that top looks so stunning (it's lovely on it's own too) !
I'm aiming to read more books this upcoming year because I'm a huge fan of reading and have a collection of books. I might start with Anna and the French Kiss since I have two copies, one that got signed a year or two ago and one that I got from grandma. I have read Lola and the Boy Next Door. Recently got Isla and the Happily Ever After. So excited.
I listened to The Gracekeepers audiobook and I loved it. I think it might be an easier way to get though a book like this with a slower pace and I could really appreciate the beautiful writing. It's narrated by the author as well and she does a great job. It was one of my favourite books I read this year :)
ULTIMATELY, this is the best video of 2016. Haha
Honestly plays are not meant to be read. That includes Shakespeare. That's why most people hate Shakespeare in high school. It is meant to be watched, not read. The Cursed Child is NOT a book, but a script. That is why you were disappointed.
Not true. She said that she was disappointed because of characterization, not the way things were written. The characters acted unnaturally, and seeing the script acted out wouldn't change that disappointment.
I can see what you're saying, but it doesn't really apply in Reagan's case. :/
Let me tell you a thing; it felt like the characters were acting unnaturally because you were supposed to actually SEE the characters acting, not just read it. The reason why some dialogue might have felt strange is because you weren't there to see them act it out. It wasn't WRITTEN to be READ. It was WRITTEN to be watched, therefor it is completely unfair to judge ANY aspect of the story before watching the actual play.
Ziaria what was the point in publishing the play if it were not able to be enjoyed in its written form? Shakespeare is often just as bad acted out as it is on a page. Don't invalidate her feelings about the play simply because you have a different perspective. Let ME tell YOU something, The Cursed Child simply wasn't enjoyable for some, no matter the format.
That's complete bull. it was actions and things characters wouldn't have done, not the way they were said.
there's a big difference.
I didn't like it cause the characters were wrong and that has nothing to do with seeing it as a play for example (in MY opinion) Harry's personality was completely wrong and just was really messed up. As well as other characters.
I think my most disappointing reads of 2016 were:
Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet Book 1
Doctor Strange Season One
Wonder Woman: Earth One
Cursed Child
Teen Titans: Earth One
A book I didn't like this year was Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. Idk I just couldn't get into the book and found it boring. I asked my friends who were also reading the book and they said they also didn't like it and found it boring. I liked the grandfather character that they mentioned in the story that unfortunately died .. but that was about it.
gerards unicorn I really liked the first book but right now I'm reading Hollow City and..I'm stuck on page 100 and I don't really find the motivation to continue on reading because, yeah it IS kinda boring..I'm pretty sure there's more stuff going to happen and yeah I'll eventually finish the book but yeah just felt like saying that hahaha
Every Heart a Doorway needed more details andddddd elaboration, I think, but I also found it haunting and whimsical. I think there's so much potential for the world and desperately want more world building. However, I went into it knowing there was a planned sequel, which may be why I wasn't that disappointed.
There's going to be a sequel novella for Every Heart a Doorway coming out in June I believe, Among the Sticks and Bones, which I think features Jack and Jill. I appreciated your thoughts on the book, I read it last week and it's on my top list of this year.
I totally agree about "Every Heart a Doorway". It didn't feel finished
My main (and probably stupid) problems of The Cursed Child:
-Still not over Ron being drunk at Hermione's wedding. It just isn't right. Why the Hell would he throw away the moment he'd been waiting for for LITERALLY YEARS??
-Why did Voldermort have a child with Bellatrix? What even...
-The lack of development between Rose and Scorpius. It kinda felt out of nowhere. Scorbus would've made more sense
-Going back to Godric's Hollow was stupid
-The plot was stupid
-It was all stupid
-Send help
every heart a doorway looks to be a trilogy at the point. second one slated for 2017. it left me wanting more as well.
The idea that Cedric Diggory would become a death eater because he was embarrassed or failed at the Triwizard tournament was just RIDICULOUS and SILLY! Also Hermione being bitter if she and Ron didn't end up?! Wtf that's not Hermione: she would still be kind and I believe she would have moved on with dignity. There are so many flaws in this book. I did like Draco and his love for his dead wife and Scorpius is precious.
The worst books I read this year (not in order)
Shatter Me
Painless
Highly Illogical Behavior
Empire Of Storms (I didn't really hate this one I was just really disappointed with it)
I HATED Shatter Me with a passion lol, don't kill me please!
Shatter Me was so bad...by far the most disappointing book I read this year.
There will be another book of Every Heart a Doorway. It will focus on Jack and Jill, so I'm not sure when exactly the book takes place
What light was probably my least favourite book of the year. And I only finished it a couple of hours ago 💔😂
I know that Every Heart A Doorway is going to have a sequel and I believe it's supposed to be a trilogy. And I sure hope it is because, like you said, the idea is so awesome but the book was way too short and just flew by (not really in a positive way). Like, I finished it and was like, "Wait, that's it?"
I completely agree with what you said on The Cursed Child. I wish I had been able to see it on stage because I've heard it was MUCH better like that.
Cursed child, the kill order, isle of the lost, where things come back... when you read 100 books you find a lot of bad ones.
Vicious disappointed me, the hype really killed it for me
I was so disappointed with The Cursed Child. I hated what was done in the parallel universes, especially with Ron and Hermione.
I've never read a Harry Potter book, nor have i read cursed child, but just from what I'm hearing people say about CC is actually upsetting me greatly despite the fact I've never read HP XD.
So glad I'm not the only one who disliked Every Heart a Doorway. I did NOT get it. The concept is amazing, but I hated the murder mystery. It felt too random and the characters didn't get any real development either, except for the fact that they were transsexual and asexual.
Charlie Book Fanatic This was my view EXACTLY. I kept hearing so much hype about this book and couldn't have been more disappointed with it. The potential was there, but the execution was seriously lacking. I also hated the murder mystery. It felt rushed and ultimately out of place with the rest of the story. I also felt like a majority of the characters were unlikeable and unsympathetic, along with being underdeveloped.
"ultimately"
Worst book I read this year was empire of storms
Yaryna agree ! !
Thank you Regan! High five! I did not want to read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at all. Reason why, IT'S A PLAY, not a novel. I can't do plays.
Well, I did read The Crown Tower and The Rose and the Thorn first, but I absolutely loved Theft of Swords, still do. I think the Riyria Revelations are some of the most enjoyable books I have ever read in my life. What a surprise to see that one here!
The worst book I "read" in 2016 was Truthwitch by Susan Dennard. I got through like 3 chapters before I decided to DNF it and it sucks because it was my most anticipated book of 2016 and it was awful! There was no world building whatsoever! I honestly felt like I was being thrown into a maze blindfolded while reading that book.
The Cursed Child was a let down I'll agree :( Love these more unpopular-type booktube videos!
Cursed Child was literally a well-written fan fiction it made me laugh
Worst books I've read in 2016:
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown
Miss Mayhem
Life and Death
A Darker Shade of Magic
To all the boys I've loved before
It blows my mind that you not only disliked Theft of Swords but you put it in the "worst books" you read this year. I wouldn't say I love the book as much as my favorites because I agree that you don't get a strong emotional connection with the main characters at first because we don't get to really know them (they seem more like clichés of themselves than like full-blown characters if that makes sense?) but I still like this series a whole lot! The humor cracks me up, the plot is surprising and the characters (especially a couple of them) start to really tug at your heart strings in the following books. To me, this series is an amazing take on classic "sword and sorcery" which made me laugh a lot and kept taking me by surprise. I really hope you give the next book a chance and others don't write off the seriers before having read it (thank you for reminding us at the end to be our own judges about books). But anyway: loved the video as always, love your channel! Can't wait for more in this new year!
I loved the harry potter book.
But also, I enjoyed every heart a doorway. I did feel like the problems in it were solved way too quickly but it was still a good read. And it's the first in a series. The next one comes out in June. It's all about Jack and Jill's story.
My five most disappointing (I even enjoyed parts of them) books of 2016 are: Rude Bitches Make Me Tired by Celia Rivenbark, Looking for Alaska by John Green, Nocturnes by Kazuo Ishiguro, Into the Dim by Janet B Taylor, and White Cat by Holly Black.
Other than The Cursed Child the only other book that really disappointed me was Heartless. It was so underwhelming to me especially since I expected more from Marissa Meyer
If you're still wanting to check out Michael J Sullivan's books I suggest you check out the Riyria prequels first (The Crown Tower, The Rose and the Thorn, and the Death of Dulgath). I enjoyed the Theft of Swords, and the following books, but have to say I liked the prequels more. Found I got a little more attached to the characters with the extra backstory they gave. That and they are a good deal shorter haha.
unfortunately "Grace Keepers" was on my most disappointing list for this year too - it was my only 1/5 star for the year! So I totally feel you on everything you said on it!
I pretty much just blocked out the cursed child and pretended it was just fan fiction haha. Which ultimately is what it felt like.
Every Heart A Doorway is the first book in the Wayward Children series! :)
Every Heart A Doorway is going to have a second book, which comes out in 2017, and a third coming out in 2018!
COMPLETELY agreed with you about Cursed Child--until I went and saw the actual play and it made SO much sense. I completely agree that the script is awful and is painful to read because it is so bad and I went into the actual play super skeptical, but I was blown away when I saw it in person, made my whole flat see it (all of whom loved it as much as me), and actually saw it again because it was so good. So yes, I agree that the book is bad, but do keep in mind that it was really written not to be read, but to be presented in play form and when that is done, it is done beautifully and breathtakingly.
I second the Gracekeepers. It was SO boring.
I enjoyed the Cursed Child when I read it in like an hour the day it came out, but I'm never going to read it again because I'm sure that upon further examination it'll disappoint me too
2016: the year "dark lord's secret love child" became the new "jumped the shark".
Oh no that's so disappointing that Every Heart A Doorway isn't that great - I've been excited for that one for a while!
My most disappointing book this year was Throne of Glass. I went into it expecting a kickass female heroine, an intense fight for freedom and a dose of magic. What I got was a whiny teenager and a love triangle.
I was so heartbroken that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was so crappy. I went to a midnight release party and it was amazing being around so many HP fans and then I came home and gobbled up this book but it was such a let down.
A lot of people didn't like the Harry Potter cursed child
I know these aren't 2016 novels, but the ones I just had to stop reading this past year...
all the bright places
The lunar chronicles at book 3. It just grew weaker to me, I know I'm in a minority here.
Red Queen.... maybe I didn't try hard enough on this one. Might try again!
Kelly Martinez I'm the same with Red Queen! I don't understand all the hype
what didn't you like about book 3 in the lunar chronicles?
I enjoy Red Queen, it's kind of a guilty pleasure for me
I finally read soulless this year... and the paper magician... ew (the paper magician reminded me of the librarian girl from lirreal or sabriel or the other one in that trilogy.)
ughhh i really didn't like red queen. i really don't understand why it was so hyped up
I bet my entire bookshelves that HP&TCC will be high on this list.
You need to read Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. It's filled with politics and it's soo good also Warbreaker by him is great too. If you like the black Prism you would love Warbreaker!
There was a Harry Potter fanfic about how Harry's aunt married a different person and was a better person. That fanfic was wayyyyyyyyyy better than Cursed Child. If I find I'll leave a link
ugh HP and the Cursed Child 😷 sooo disappointing
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who didn't like Every Heart a Doorway. I picked it up after hearing rave reviews and when I finished the book I literally thought I read the wrong book because I hated it so much lol
Awesome video Regan. Absolutely love your opinions! One of my worst books this year is actually the whole Red Rising trilogy. =\ While I enjoyed the first book, Golden Son and Morning Star were incredibly hard for me to get through.
The thing about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is that it's a play. It's not supposed to be read, it's supposed to be watched and experienced. Take a moment to think, would Hamilton be as exciting if it was ONLY in written format?
"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" was definitely my worst and most disappointing read of 2016. Was just not good, and I refuse to acknowledge it as part of the series. I still gave it two stars because physically/emotionally I cannot give anything associated with Harry Potter one star...
I just bought Theft of Swords. Hopefully I enjoy it!
Totally agree about tcc! Scorpius was a surprise fave and totally made reading it worth it tbh and Ron was made out to be the biggest joke. I hated it.
tbh harry potter and the cursed child is the last book I read and it ruined books for me. I can't bring myself to get into another one because I feel so betrayed.
For me, The Winner's Crime, i was enthralled by the first one but this book just frustrated me, all the characters frustrated me and i felt like the story went no where, also Harry Potter, just why
WoW I read Theft of Swords this year too and it was one of my favorites.
Hm I really enjoyed Harry Potter and the Cursed Child but, oh well, to each their own..I feel like in a lot of cases, it doesn't help much if a book gets too much hype because in the end, there's a greater chance of disappointment and that was exactly the case with this book if you ask me
Cursed Child just felt like the weirdest fanfic I've ever read.
I had to read The Chocolate War in English and I just did not like it.
However I had to also read Unbroken for the same English class this year and i thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audio book but I didn't enjoy actually reading it myself, could that count actually?
I plan to read "Every heart a doorway" and I'll let you know if I agree with your opinion of it.
