    Apparently the A380s that come into Perth are not allowed to land unless the airport has DOUBLE the regular amount of crew working on the ground. Nice vid Ed, I go there occasionally too

      @VBEd666  9 лет назад

      G'day Dan, that is interesting to know. The plane enthusiast that we met at the platform informed us that the reason why there was a long delay in allowing A380's to land at Perth Airport was due to the number of air bridges that they require. Cheers mate.

    Interesting Ed... I could sit there for hours watch these babies take off... handy info mate...as kids back in the 60s we used to venture into the Adelaide airport and check out the hangers holding DC-3s etc and such without any trouble what so ever..different now mate .. these viewing galleries are excellent Ed....~!!

    • @VBEd666
      @VBEd666  9 лет назад +1

      G'day Butch, I remember back in the 60's and early 70's security was very lax in Australia and it was easy to get up close to the air craft. Then all our Australian airports got revamped in the 80's and 90''s and viewing got a lot more difficult. Thankfully, some airports are now building these public viewing platforms. Perth is about to build a second viewing platform on a different side of the airport. Cheers mate.

    I live close to a major airport and sometimes I wish there was an observation deck like this over there so if I get bored one day I could just go over there and watch all the planes...and you're right Ed, those A380's are huge! I had the opportunity to fly in one of those when I went to London last year, and that thing is massive! Had like two decks and just huge wings! As we were speeding down the the runway to take off I was like "Come on baby, get up! Get up, baby! Come on baby, get up there!....Yeah!"

    • @VBEd666
      @VBEd666  9 лет назад

      +evancortez2 G'day Evan, in 2008 I travelled on a A380 when I flew from Singapore to London. It is a very quiet aircraft. I love the plane. My understanding is that they don't make them anymore. All the airline companies are buying the new Dreamliner instead. Cheers mate.

    Cool idea the viewing platform although ya sure picked the day to be going there...nice and warm. ha
    I have watched alot of planes having grown up next to a small country airfield. Used to enjoy watching them and I know it rubbed off on my father as he now builds and flies his own. So now the only way to see him is to visit his hanger where he seems to spend most of his time....don't blame him though...he has some real nice toys there. :-)

    Warning, 1400 word monologue about my love of big machines, especially planes ahead (more of a diary entry for me so no expectation of the whole thing being read....) LOL apparently at Melbourne airport there's this little access road and a flat sort of cleared dirt area to stand right under the planes just before they touch down, I'm not sure if it's endorsed or how it got there but it's apparently enough for a mr whippy van or others to come whenever it's a nice day as many people go to watch the planes. The trouble for me is I'd happily be there despite the an hour and a half journey but there's no public transport and the skybus is like $20 a ticket or something. Don't have a license/car either due to a disability so that doesn't help, but I'm not complaining. So I resort to checking up the times at Avalon like 5km away and having a nice watch. Every time a plane takes off it's just like a miracle, as crazy as it sounds but it just amazes me how powerful hydrocarbons are to just race a plane down and take off. No wonder pilots fight over take off! I was shocked when at a local anti quarry meeting (I had to go lol, Katrina Rowntrey and her farmer husband are to be put out of business by it....) but anyway these generally greens leaning type actually really, really want the airport expanded, even to be international and take away as much market share from Tullamarine as possible. Probs because the tourist operators are so closely affiliated with this new koala foundation thingy campaigning the most I guess. But I was glad because you know now I can voice my views loud and proud, if I'm criticised I just say t, 'we need the jobs from greater tourism', which is weird as people pay a fortune to go where I basically take for granted.... It sounds nasty as those fires down the great ocean road are huge, devastating and petrifying but I haven't minded watching the big tankers come in for fire retardant I assume and sucking up sea water too at one stage I believe. I think the reason I love planes so much is it brings back memories of going on holidays, (ie going to stay at my uncles in perth summer holidays in high school lol....) and like for my whole life I've struggled to get excited over christmas and such, but going on a holiday is like this joyful experience like I'll look forward to it for so long before it and even if I sort of waste time where I go it's still exciting. I love having the oil price so low because it means you can get dirt cheap flights, than I just stay at people's houses and everything. The thing that freaks people out the most is altho I love trains, planes and if I'm really bored even trucks (wouldn't matter if I was really mad about a project I love trucks.....) but weirdest of all I am so obsessed with elevators it isn't funny, once again I can be dead against a proposal but if there's lifts I can access, which is obviously rare but I just wait for cleaners who leave doors open, like especially if there's a rooftop terrace (doesn't have to be anything there but a good view is a bonus) and I will needlessly go up and down from the basement car park over and over. As a kid on holidays it's all I did until I was exploring you know our accommodation is Singapore in this weird building with like multiple buildings in one and the security bloke thought I was lost, he led me past his control room and he had so, so many camera screens, so he thought I suspected he thought I was a bit crazy and I stopped. I always want to find every building and go up, especially if it's tall. I loved the marina bay sands in Signapore as altho you're restricted to a small area of the bar if you don't pay I could go up and down (then look at how high I went up) needlessly. Everyone thinks it's such a weird habit. I can hardly wait for the new woolies near me with a basement carpark and a store on top, as it's like my childhood dream to have that, there'd be no reason to go up as you just get on level ground but I'm gonna enjoy it. I think the reason is because I just have an obsession with anything electrical and it's just amazing to me how you can be carried up, I love renewable energy that much for just that reason virtually, the novelty of thinking that a solar panel or wind turbine moved me up, it's like the mystery of it as I did weeks of work experience ina refineries workshops seeing steam turbines and everything, it's just kind of like wel obviously it can generate heaps of power if electricity moves trains, but something's more mystical about wind turbines and especially solar panels as they don't move. I don't know what to think, I know this is a weird obsession but it's amazing how being moderately deprived of something keeps up a novelty. I should start filming lift videos like the americans do, still sad I can't be a lift technician/wind turbine tech *assuming it's one with a part lift, huge climbs fine so I can really know I'm getting up everyday for the machines I love. When people say isn't it amazing how we take electricity to lights for granted, I'm like meh going up a lift is experiencing electricity along with a simple yet intricate mechanical system as all it has to do is sway it to the side a bit. Anyway yes I love helping on a ultra slow (boring.....) tourist railway so I'm a train spotter officially, I love seeing the real stuff tho. Oh and I also love cranes, best until last huge ships yep. as a sailor (I sail out to watch the ships come in, as I meet the overseas pilots too so they've taught me a heck of a lot about them, some of them get pretty miserable from them but you know it's the going to port watching others come in they like too.... I will go to Melbourne happily to see that and I do. Ever since I got a warehousing job at port melbourne on holidays/study breaks where I could see some before/after and during movement. My Dad reckons being a spotter of anything like that is really weird but even he loves them when his near the big ships. I should make a career transition to driving a tugboat, would love that..... Or loading freight trains with grain, if I could find somewhere. But I have wanted to be a pilot from day one, broke my heart when I first found out from my Dad I couldn't, cried all the way from Queensland hugging my winnie the pooh, even on the way home but I'm still optimistic something will happen, can't fix my genetic eye condition but can always hope. Not so great to see automated trains in Queensland (wondering why last time I was there out along the lines to the coal terminals, of course they never honked when I signalled, because it was driverless lol. That was something I wanted from day one but mum told me from when I was like 3 as it'd be too devastating to find out I couldn't be a train driver any later! So yes, there's endless entertainment in life for me, I'm still young so who knows what's to come, hate to do a back in my day but once upon a time I got fresh air, just had to know exact location of every new house in town, had to spot anything big that moves. Unlike others I never bothered with video games, I'd even just sit beside the freeway with a truck spotter mate, also with a view of the trainline and airport of course. Nowadays I spend (waste...) my time on the internet too often still, all the missed opportunities, was upset at missing seeing the oil drill rig go back from the port at Geelong I believe back out to the bass strait, altho it will be drying up. Basically despite technically hating it I really wish oil was clean and renewable as a refinery also is like willy wonkas factory for me, so are car factories.... Loved watching the polymer production once a few years back on a tour, then it getting loaded, onto a train for melbourne.... OK I should end the monologue there lol my obsessions are weird and diverse, but if you don't find at least some huge things like planes exciting well you're taking everything for granted.....

      Do they have ABC Radio in Western Oz ; I thought it had long been declared an undesirable Unpatriotic Organisation, accused of acting contrary to the sacred interests of sustained Economic Growth, and that Gina Fartzrhinestones was donating a chain of Jamming-Stations to be deployed along the Border...?
      Other than that, it's kind of surprising that the (In)Suckurititty "Industry" allows anybody to "loiter" within Photographic-Range of any Runway..., these days...; maybe you should try going up there wearing a Khaftan and a Turban to wave a big Camera at the Hairygoplanes, you could get yourself a really interesting Video, if the SWAT Squad doesn't shoot you (?) !
      Have a good one,

      Gina will be most displeased...; if she learns of this, all her FLI-FLO Worker-Bots will be prohibited from using you to process their Tax Returns as Contract-Flunkies...!
      You may yet have to eke out an existance merely by renting Rooms by the Hour to those "Therapists" (The-Rapists...?) who're busily fleecing the long-suffering Wives & Partners of those Absent Spouses (employed at grubbing in Gina's Hole) only ; instead of feeding on both sides of their Family Finances...?
      Do you get Radio National, or just News Radio ?
      Radio National is much more in-depth than News Radio...; but I think they kick you out of the Liberal/National Party if ever ASIO catches you listening to it...(?) !

      What have you got against therapists such as Psychologists who try and talk people out of killing themselves, or Hypnotherapists who try help masochists who want to smoke themselves to death, Naturopaths who try and stop people killing themselves by eating processed rubbish and Massage Therapists who rub the backs of people with aches and pains ? Their moral fibre is more credible than medical specialists who extort thousands of dollars for their services without giving their clients any guarantee.
      I would have thought that someone who believes in Karmic Weather Fairies who dish out justice to city dwelling voters, and someone revered by local Aboriginal tribesmen would have more of an open mind when it comes complimentary natural medical practices ?

    Sigmund Freud said, "Aeroplanes are just flying penisses" so that basically makes all male plane-spotters gay. Nothing wrong with that, of course but still... I like to spot planes, too, by the way ;-) the stronger the better! P.S. But seriously. Thumbs up for an interesting video, Ed! Enjoy plane-spotting while you can. I wouldn't be surprised if they closed it down, due to fear of terrorists. How easily could they shoot down a plane from there.
