@@martykopulsky4931 You know, I saw her in Dolly and I really don't remember her. I hope all the negatives don't damage her psyche. It's hard to throw yourself out there and not listen to the naysayers. That being said, I didn't think she was right for this from the get go. I wasn't wild about the Jane Lynch casting either.
The reason it’s never happened is you need a name. Idina Menzel is now fairly bankable but that’s come in recent years. The show was never going to be revived with a musical theatre performer who isn’t known to the grown public
Thank you so much!!!! No disrespect to Beanie, but there’s no way she’s gonna be able to vocally come close to doing Fanny like SJB, and some of the true leading ladies who’ve done it regionally like Kritzer or Bean.
The original Broadway cast album of Funny Girl has always been one of my favorites. It's great to see the musical actually staged and how the music fit in, since some numbers were dropped from the movie. Sadly, Fanny singing "Cornet Man" was one of those,. Listening to Streisand sing it, I think the energy of the song and dance would have made a bit more sense than the roller skate number + "I'd rather be Blue". I think the whole Keeney scene, including the "Chik-Chik-Chicken" dance, could have been written as a hilarious show stopper. Anyway, great to see it staged as it was done on Broadway.
Love Stephanie! Perfect for this role. Saw the new Bway production the other day and.... Bless Beanie but she can't carry a whole show. Besides that the production looks like senior project. Such a disappointment!
This may be hearsay but I heard a story where SJB was told she had the revival in the bag and then they went with Lauren Ambrose and was highly pissed…..only for the funding to fall through
I’m sorry, but it’s impossible to watch this without doing a line-by-line comparison to Streisand. As talented as SJB is, she can’t match the original. I think it’s partly because the creators reportedly tailored the show to Streisand’s unique gifts. Reviews suggest Beanie doesn’t have those gifts either.
If they’d done the revival years ago they would had their pick of people Idina or Stephanie even Shoshana all those ladies can sing down this score!
What might have been!
I'm wondering how much influence Feldstein's father had in getting her the part. He is a theatre business guy. Can someone enlighten me please.

Oh I Love Stephanie !!! My first Elphaba I saw at The Kennedy Center 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💙💜💙
My first Elephaba too. And am lucky to have seen her in several shows since.
yes
I worked with Stephanie in Funny Girl Downey Civic Lite Opera Fall 1993......
Stephanie J. Block GODDESS
You’re doing god’s work.

I completely agree!
And SJB cannot touch beanie’s comedy. Take your pick.
Btw I saw it. Beanie Was great
This was so true. I saw Beanie and her singing was distracting sub par but she was fun.
What about Sheridan Smythe? Not exactly chopped liver!

"Cornet Man" would have been such a raucous, wonderful showcase had it been filmed.
Thank you!!!
Thank you so much!!!
The picture and sound go out of sync just before "We Taught Her Everything" and the volume gets very low afterwards.
Oh no! That’s awful and so unexpected for an illegally released video of a stage musical…
It kinda goes back to normal at 1:13:31 though! 😄
In what universe is Stephanie J Bloch not pretty?
Actually Streisand was too good looking for Fanny too.
The first national tour starred Carol Lawrence, probably the most beautiful woman ever on Broadway.

Who is Nick Arnstein in this production?
STEPHEN ZINATTO,
A FINE ACTOR WITH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE!

Lauren Ambrose would have been just awful.
can someone time stamp henry street?
Is she wearing a prosthetic nose??
No
God those strings need some serious intonation training.
