Please beware of possible asbestos in the concrete etc. ( all works which were done in the twenties, thirties or later on), or also lead paint remnants. I´m glad that you´re saving the chateau. It´s truly an important historic place.

I have been uncovering my lost garden, restoring and landscaping my little quarter acre cottage for years now. I bought it as a single mum of 5 young kids with a spinal injury, by scale it’s my château project. Your show and those like it are my motivation through all the aches and pain, the freezing cold bonfires till 3am. All the horrible weather and financial set backs. On days of frustration unable to move from over doing it you remind me when I’m about to give up. Anything is not nothing and all those little jobs in the end add up to something Amazing and one day I will have something money just can’t buy. Thank you, if only you knew how much it helps, Thank you

I think you should be wearing a hard hat when you're down below, inside, or underneath any structure. Worker boots or hard soled shoes would be a good idea as well, instead of the sneakers I see you're wearing! Take great care. It'll all be for not if you get an injury. Good luck with this restoration! What an amazing project!!

I've totted up what very roughly it might cost to renovate it to be a lovely place to live. I'm close to €1m. The roof alone is $150,000+. But the walls need to be made good. That's probably £50k. Then the new internal floors, €50k each floor. Then staircase. €30-50k. New wiring and plumbing. €100-150k. New heating. €30k? All internal renovation and decorating, that depends on quality, but for a place that size its €100-300k. Plus contingency for unexpected costs, which are always part of old buildings. €100k.
This will obviously be across 10 years? I hope this channel explodes! It'll be fascinating to watch. Like the wildest Grand Designs but in real time!

Sure, a bath could melt in a raging fire but surely that would leave a puddle on the floor. I once saw a bathroom where about a third of the bath had melted in some failed DIY chemistry experiment and you could definitely see the remnants on the floor.

Love some of your drone shots, and the music, too. Cute shot of your kids eating, too. I can't even imagine how much work it's going to take to make that house livable again. You have so much work ahead of you. My hat's off to you. I hope you keep the bathroom that same beautiful blue color that it is now.

Do you know photogrammetry? It would be a great value for your renovation and restoration work! Nowadays people use such detailed 3D models, to plan restorations off historic buildings. The degree of detail is awesome! Such a 3D model wouldn't only help you on your path, it would be great value for future generations as well. They would see all those differences, that have been done, since the time you started your work. It would be such a good way to document. Probably you can do one nowadays and one in future, in a couple of years. Then you could compare those digital twins. That would be amazing 😍
