I react to this beautiful performance just as I would have done when I was a kid, except that now I am 65 years old. I run about, skip and spin, hide behind the furniture and then leap out, acquaint myself with my neighbours by grimacing through their windows and chase the dogs in the street. Passionate music.
God this is great. I know it's "supposed" to be slower, but I just can't get enough of the tempo and fiery passion, especially towards the end. Love it.
I see TheMuni777 like the speed at which they were playing it. Most versions to which my ear is accustomed leave that speeded-up pace for the coda. Although I felt it was kinda on the fast side, it *was* a lot of fun! And, as someone else noted, the conductor agrees. :-)
I just want to say that on last Saturday, I had the very, very, VERY, fortunate blessing of playing with this director. He has so much passion in what he conducts. He's a genius! God bless.
Great heavens, what a performance from the 'young' orchestra of Caracas.... it was pure fire! The coda was astounding! good to hear a orchestra play with such passion. Wonderful
I've never heard this ending before, but this is an incredibly lively performance. Bravi to all performers and the conductor... and yes, even to the timpani player who made everyone's hearts melt.
This interpretation displays all the vigor, fire, and emotions only young people can achieve. BRAVO!! Wonderful and enjoyable listening. Kudos to the conductor.
This is a Latin conductor and a young Latin orchestra so there is a lot of passion going on. Some say too fast but Dudamel is even faster and whips those Germans into a frenzy in the version I've seen. It is a bacchanale after all! In its ballet setting in the opera, probably too fast for the dancers for sure. I used to sing in the SF Symphony Chorus for a few years and sung with a number of conductors. They all make funny faces but truth to tell if they didn't I would have been very worried. It meant they weren't too interested. Conductors like Seiji Ozawa were the best. Just the way Ozawa stood there before the piece told you it was going to be fun. He would take an enormous deep breath that involved all of us. We were like horses at the gate and raring to go with just that one deep breath and the downbeat.

Excellent, better than a cup of coffee to wake you up! I mean that in all sincerity. Fantastic conducting!!! The best version that I have heard in my entire life!!!!!!
Remarquable ! Excellent ! Great ! Amazing !!!

We're playing this song for marching band and it's my favorite piece of the whole show. The hardest piece we play is fanfare vision and a dream

It has something of the Boléro... Or as Tina Turner was singing : we are going to start nice and easy. And then. It's going to be rough...

Agreed. Taking this one faster makes it even better.
Generally speaking I love slower tempo, but here I agree with you: this fast rythm is amazing and adapted to this piece.

Probably, but I agree, this version best captures the savage nature the piece is aiming for. They play it with such raw aggression!
