    This is probably my favorite adaptation of this piece, although the ballet dancers' feet would probably fly off trying to dance to this.

    • @TheMuni777
      @TheMuni777 6 лет назад +112

      Probably, but I agree, this version best captures the savage nature the piece is aiming for. They play it with such raw aggression!

    • @jacobsalomon5820
      @jacobsalomon5820 5 лет назад +20

      I see
      TheMuni777 like the speed at which they were playing it. Most versions to which my ear is accustomed leave that speeded-up pace for the coda. Although I felt it was kinda on the fast side, it *was* a lot of fun! And, as someone else noted, the conductor agrees. :-)

    This is a Latin conductor and a young Latin orchestra so there is a lot of passion going on. Some say too fast but Dudamel is even faster and whips those Germans into a frenzy in the version I've seen. It is a bacchanale after all! In its ballet setting in the opera, probably too fast for the dancers for sure. I used to sing in the SF Symphony Chorus for a few years and sung with a number of conductors. They all make funny faces but truth to tell if they didn't I would have been very worried. It meant they weren't too interested. Conductors like Seiji Ozawa were the best. Just the way Ozawa stood there before the piece told you it was going to be fun. He would take an enormous deep breath that involved all of us. We were like horses at the gate and raring to go with just that one deep breath and the downbeat.

      HOW ABOUT PRUSSIA

    • @pedrodiezcansecomunoz9676
      @pedrodiezcansecomunoz9676 4 года назад +9

      La «pasión latina» es un lugar común. No todos los hispanoamericanos tienen ese temperamento. A ver si Dante Alighieri encaja en el estereotipo charlatán y muelle de los italianos, o si Baudelaire ejemplifica la racionalidad atribuida a los franceses. Aparte de que «latinos» son los habitantes del Lacio, en Italia (por extensión, los antiguos romanos). Nosotros, los habitantes de los países que antes fueron virreinatos españoles, somos hispanoamericanos (tampoco «hispanos» a secas, porque esos son los actuales españoles).
      Una sola vez he escuchado la Bacanal de «Sansón y Dalila» de Saint-Saëns con esta misma intensidad y tempo: la dirigía Leonard Bernstein. Lo cierto es que el mérito último de esta performance no se debe a la mal llamada «pasión latina» sino a la pedagogía del Sistema de Orquesta Infantiles y Juveniles creado en 1975 por el maestro José Antonio Abreu.
      Ciertamente, pueden notarse algunas sutiles diferencias en la manera de percibir y ejecutar la música según la prosodia de la lengua materna y la atmósfera musical de lugar donde uno nace, pero un buen intérprete se enfoca ante todo en las características estructurales de la música que tiene delante y, en segundo lugar, en los contextos históricos (los del compositor) y presentes (geográficos y sociales). Y sí, de acuerdo: esta música remite a una bacanal filistea, de modo que tienen que «sentirse» el hervor de la sangre y el éxtasis entre místico y sexual.

    The technique, maturity, and resonance of sound of this ensemble matches any of the world class symphony orchestras I've heard and I've heard many. I wonder what the average age is
    of these performers they appear to be high-school and college age quite an accomplishment for this level of sonority in their sound.
