Inside ​Fiddler's Ferry Power Station which is set to be demolished

Fiddlers Ferry power station is expected to make way for 1,750 homes, warehouses and low carbon energy production.
The coal-fired plant has dominated the Widnes skyline for the last 50 years despite being located in a neighbouring area, but shut in March 2020 as part of a Government drive to phase out coal by 2025 under its climate commitments.
Here is a brief history of the power plant itself.

Once greedy developers get their sleazy paws on this, like many things in England they will make a boat load of cash , so my view is it is time for anew Oliver Cromwell to start running our country for the people. That way we the PEOPLE run the country not the fat cats who do nothing in the House of Commons, perhaps the REFORM party will be this new CROMWELL.

Thanks for putting this video up. I so enjoy looking across to the towers when on the A55 . It's like a mini skyline. Such a shame they are going it will be so boring with nothing to look at. I know not everyone likes the look of them but I've always loved them.

@@epic2105 We converted every single appliance in the UK from coal gas to natural gas in 1967. It was an immense project. Then all governments lost interest in the environment for 56 years, did nothing, and suddenly decided there was an emergency and pulled the plug on half our electricity grid. Utter government inspired madness.

Hopefully, this new project, on brownfield land, will retain a railway connection ... being useful to bring in construction materials and remove non - useable waste ... & potentially, allowing a future rail-connected industrial estate with intermodal handling? Or even a future passenger rail service to serve the projected housing community?
