Great vid. Brought back so many lovely memories of my time there including some of great friends that are no longer with us. Power stations aren't closed down, they are killed. When they are running they vibrate, are warm or hot make noises that let you know if they are OK or not. Will miss it so much. If you worked there or any other station you know what I mean.
A major landmark in the area and easily visible from my home. another coal fired power station between where i live blown up a god few years back was Bold roughly between Fiddlers and Haydock. The skyline will not be the same when the cooling towers and chimneys have gone, enjoyed the film Paul and the music a great capture of industry that once was of an iconic period and an impressive structure...
They just blew the towers about 30 minutes ago. Im about 4 or 5 miles away and the whole house shook! It was so loud that I thought there had been a gas explosion on my street.

I was there but damn fog blocked the whole view
@@veryhighguy Oh mate, gutted for you! I guess no one will have got any decent footage too then.
@@bigal3055 probably not even the live stream what was the closest was foggy but you could see it a bit. I recorded that anyway
Damn shame. Did they take all 8 of the towers down today? I could well be wrong, but I think I read that they were possibly only blowing 4 of them.
just the 4 today, others later next year
It’s not the last there’s a couple left but soon to be gone
I agree. It’s why it says one of the last.
One of these cooling towers collapsed in high winds about 40 yrs ago and needed to be rebuilt.
yeah iv seen the story
My grandma told me she was glad it was not a nuclear power plant on that day lol
@@isaachoward8766 Ha! Yeah, that could have been slightly problematic.
Excellent vid that Paul
Brilliant Video!
thanx
Worked there in the ninetys
Sad times when another industrial Goliath has gone another chuck of industrial British industry to disappear
It is gonna get demolished in a few days or weeks 😢
Yeah, I’ll be there
It’s only 4 cooling towers coming down for now
