  • Fiddlers Ferry Power Station opened in 1971 but recently been decommissioned, it is one of the last coal burning power stations in the uk.
the area is due to be cleared and build on the site. This is just a look around the full perimeter from public areas and some drone footage including a peek in to one of the cooling towers.

Great vid. Brought back so many lovely memories of my time there including some of great friends that are no longer with us. Power stations aren't closed down, they are killed. When they are running they vibrate, are warm or hot make noises that let you know if they are OK or not. Will miss it so much. If you worked there or any other station you know what I mean.

A major landmark in the area and easily visible from my home. another coal fired power station between where i live blown up a god few years back was Bold roughly between Fiddlers and Haydock. The skyline will not be the same when the cooling towers and chimneys have gone, enjoyed the film Paul and the music a great capture of industry that once was of an iconic period and an impressive structure...

They just blew the towers about 30 minutes ago. Im about 4 or 5 miles away and the whole house shook! It was so loud that I thought there had been a gas explosion on my street.

Damn shame. Did they take all 8 of the towers down today? I could well be wrong, but I think I read that they were possibly only blowing 4 of them.
