The site was adjacent to the historic crossing, that, used a chain to cross the Mersey river via a floating raft aka ferry. An example of which can be seen in the latter part of the film A Knights Tale
When I had my own truck in the seventies I hauled hundreds of tons of fire bottom ash out of there to Crowthers Bricks in Little Lever who held the contract for removing the ashes. Surely this power station could have been converted to burn waste instead of coal and turn it into energy, there’s a waste to energy plant In Runcorn that burns waste from Manchester and Merseyside amongst others to produce electricity,it’s such a shame it had to be reduced to rubble, this has happened to other power stations just when we need all the electricity we can produce, another blunder by this crazy short sighted government,I could see the cooling towers from where I now live in Atherton,I always found the staff at Fiddlers Ferry great people and my neighbour at the static caravan park in wales we were at worked there, sad times for all the employees who worked there.
I had an induction there last week, as its currently undergoing demolition, was told the first 4 towers are due to come down in December 2023 or jan 2024 latest. Be a sad day as a Warrington born and bred. 😢
Thank you very much. Just read an article on Skem and that you could see Fiddlers cooling Towers from there! I wish I had made time to visit! Still looking for my kit from Fiddlers back at Penner Road!
People I remember working at FFPS; The Nerve, The Head, Big Al, Spit The Dog, Lance, Mick, Dwayne and Wayne and other E Shift members. Also the coal plant used to play football at dinner time
Best job ever doing outages for Dunns, PCL, ABB, etc... Damn hard work. Damn good money. Damn good craic. Shame you didn't show more of the boiler house. Good shots of the mills though.

Our son Marc Rudd doing voice over on a marvellous historical piece on the Iconic Fiddlers Ferry Power Station. So proud of him.

Is it Fiddler's Ferry on the cover of Verve's Slide Away? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slide_Away_%28The_Verve_song%29
It can’t be. Because that album cover has two tall towers, fiddlers ferry only has 1.
Ferrybridge, that had 2 main chimney's Fiddlers ferry only had 1
