sonix isnt boring, he plays this game just better than the rest, hes patient and doesnt rabdomly step into the opponents when they have an advantage
and from time to time when he sees his opportunity hes quick to collapse and we can truly see rushdown sonic shine

@@Shane-5229 idk mate i really liked that game 2 spike, and game 3 was pure domination, he isn't incredibly boring nowadays, he's been changing his ways slowly but surely, this MU is campy asf bc steve putting blocks and mining, and even then sonix managed to be agressive in this MU, same against spargo, same against light and he 3-0'd his ahh, but at the beginning tho i do agree that sonix was boring to watch, by example that gluto vs sonix fight holy shit it had me sleeping (it wasn't entirely sonix fault tho gluto was playing passive asf but you get the point)
@@Shane-5229Watching sonic may not be the most entertaining thing of all time, but seeing Sonix's mastery with the character is fascinating in it's own right. At the very least, even when I'm bored by the gameplay, I can appreciate his work ethic and professionalism.
Best thing about this match: either Sonic or Steve get eliminated; worst thing about this match: either Sonic or Steve advance further

At 12:46 , Sonix just slammed on the gas, crazy that he can play so patient and passive and then suddenly decide to explode Acola's final stock.
That clip right there is a glimpse of how Nintendo intended Sonic to be played lol

You can still see glimpses of Steve's brokenness even in this set like at 5:23 where Sonix has a 100% lead and Acola almost steals a stock off an uptilt into a kill with literally 2 hits.

I know but acola camps and mines the entire game so sonix had to begin the set making it clear that he actually had to fight in order to win. Then sonix smoked him
That's why I love watching Sonix. He plays well and camps when he knows he has to, but is also good enough to rush down and annihilate games when he finds an opportunity.

I also feel like unlike his preparation for sparg0, acola will have a harder time to come up with a strategy for sonix bc sonix studies up on even the players he beats. I think it was at Light's Out podcast after port priority or something but I remember Sonix saying that he wants to three stock steve 3 times, bro is a perfectionist

Not a fan of Sonix, but we all have to admit that he knows how to play his character really well, he can camp but when he has to find the kill he finds it easy.
It's kinda funny how hopeless acola is when he can't just bully the opponent while camping. Like he just gets dismantled when the same shit is done back to him and even furthermore he can't keep up to any extent with proper pressure and great offense. Ik I sound disrespectful but I personally never thought he deserved the #1 player title while using this horrendous character.

Look I'm not saying Acola is a bad player, but the obvious difference here is, Sonix has absolutely mastered Sonic as a character. Acola is a master at utilizing Steve's tools, but he has yet to master the character. Utilizing minecart, upsmash, anvil, blocks, etc. is good, until you come up against a player like Sonix where you just need to know how to adapt instead of leaning on Steve's tool kit like Acola tends to do.

This was extremely hard to watch. And I actually enjoy a lot of sonix games, even though he's possibly the only sonic I can even watch without falling asleep. Man... To call a Steve the best player and then watch them do this shit...😂 Why even play dude?
Matchup in general. Sonix not only outplayed but this is one of very few that steve has trouble with due to sonics incredible mobility

Sonic is one of the few characters that can escape the OP bair/fair + minecart situation/combo that kills most players and characters, especially at ledge. Seeing that taken away from Steve is a beauty to watch.

It looked like acola missed a lot of potential punishes that could’ve added up to something bigger. Probably just a lack of awareness. He can definitely beat Sonix in the future.
Specifically? Other than the 1 or 2 HAs
It could just be me, idk I feel like at 4:51 when Sonix lands from the up b, if he waited and tried an up tilt combo he could’ve gotten more (or not idk). Or at like 8:44 when Sonix air dodges, maybe just waiting for him to airdodge couldve resulted in some good damage. It’s probably also just a retrospective thing from me, and Sonic is fairly frustrating to fight so you’d want the damage immediately, so I could just be completely wrong.
Just two examples I found but there could’ve been some other opportunities for damage too, idk.
And ofc hes human so not everything can be perfect

いままで3回大会で当たって合計9-1でソニックスが勝ってるし、あこーらが勝った1試合も内容ではほぼソニックスが圧倒してて最後の最後にステのぶっ壊れダイヤ空後がたまたま当たっただけって感じであんなまぐれ勝ちは多分30試合に1回あるかないかだと思うし流石にあこーらが3本取れるビジョンは当分見えないかな

Game 1 Acola getting timed out after camping all game was hilarious. Game 2 ending spike was crazy into the last game Sonix just lapping him with aggressive play.

Acola played the first game well but became impatient as the set went on and things fell apart. It's madness to approach in this mu, with what range or speed? You can't chase Sonic down with Steve. Holding your ground and acknowledging that your buttons are better if he ever comes within range is what works. In the first game Sonix won because he got the better of the timeout situation.
Best to study Sonix and study this matchup properly, cuz I can assure you Sonix has done the same. Steve should be able to edeguard Sonic too, but we rarely see Acola do it. It's not hopeless.

This is why I keep talking about the Japan bias. Nobody is going to be as consistent as Acola was last season when they’re actually playing the world’s top talent instead of hiding out in their home region.
You shouldn’t be able to rack up all those points without playing everybody.
