I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT, I'M NEW TOO IT'S ANAZING ALL THAT YOU CAN DO WITH IT. ARE YOU GETTING A PENCIL WITH IT? MAYBE A SUPRISE. HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY. 🥳
@@cheryl5994 you too, and yes I'm getting an apple pencil. We went with lowest budget with still buying new from apple (iPad 9 and first gen pencil) and i got a mobdik screen protector (10$ for 2). I am waiting very patiently (not 😄) but one concern I have is with my screen protector being pretty rough, I'm worried about the nib getting used up too quickly. Shouldnt be too much of a problem because I'll probably turn down the pressure curve (so I don't have to press so hard to get full pressure motion). I would like to hear your experiences with pressure and nib wear tho!
Here’s a tip for left handed users: If you tap the tiny wrench, tap prefs, and then turn on Right Hand Interface, the brush size menu will switch sides. So it’s easier for left handed people to use.
THANKS CAMI, I'LL KEEP THAT IN MIND, MY PARTNER IS A SOUTH PAW SO HE'LL FIND THIS REALLY USEFUL, WHEN I LET HIM GET HIS HANDS ON MY NEW PRIZED POSSESSION. 😁
Procreate also allows you to import multi-page pdf’s. I’ve been using that feature studying vocabulary. I find the annotation options in other apps is overshadowed by procreate. Even beloved apps like GoodNotes doesn’t give me the same smooth writing experience procreate gives me.
@@panda_314 I do it by saving the pdf in a folder (iPad or a cloud service). Find it via the “files” app, open it to get the preview, then right hand corner tap on the square with the up arrow, scroll the top row apps until you see procreate and tap it. Procreate opens and It gets automatically imported. It depends I guess on how much info is displayed, but in my pdfs, the max layers = 129.
These tips are great but I just wanna put it out here that if you drag and drop the layers into the new canvas directly into the layers menu instead of directly onto the canvas it won’t put them backwards they will be in the right order. Hope this helps anyone reading this!
Thanks Brad! Great tips! One aspect of quick shapes took me a while to discover. First you draw a very short line, then hold for a bit until it becomes a straight line. Keeping the stylus down, make it into a long line. You end up with a dotted line. I sketch out a lot of plans for things I want to build, so dashed or dotted lines are useful.
Avid Procreate user here for many years, and there were still a few things in this I wasn’t aware of! 😃 Particularly liked learning about the two-finger taps and holds on the layers to activate opacity and layer selection, as those are tools I use frequently. I’ve only ever used the two finger slide for transparency lock. Nice job, Brad!
Along with create palette from camera, you can also drag a picture from your canvas over to the palette menu, and it will create a palette from the most used colors in that picture.
This is truly a lifesaving video. I’ve been using procreate for about a year and a half and all of these things are useful. I didn’t even know about them. The colour drop thing, the pure white, pure black, pure colour, the fact you can move layers to other canvases if needed. Every single one was useful and I guarantee I’ll be coming back to rewatch soon. THANK YOU BRAD.
Wow, I had no idea about a lot of these!!! Procreate is deceptively simple, but never ceases to surprise! I always learn something new on your channel, it's my go-to for tips and tricks. Even though I've already got my art gear, I really enjoy your tech reviews, too (keeps me up to date for when I need to upgrade someday!). Thanks for all your hard work, and for making it fun! 😀
I just moved to Procreate from 25 years in Photoshop... this is a great little "get up and running" video. The interactions are toooootally different. So watching this gives me an idea of how to fumble around and stumble into new workflows based on how this type of UI differs from a PC environment. Nice work, man!
In procreate there's a quick menu option which you can access by touching or holding on screen and you don't have to lift up your finger you can just slide on the option you want and it's done. You can change the options by holding on them and you can have multiple quick menus just click on the name in the centre. It's the best replacement for keyboard shortcuts :)
Normally, when I watch a video about hidden features in apps I use, I often learn nothing. I love to noodle around in apps and find the little-known shortcuts. But I got at least 10 tips that I didn’t know, and very useful ones at that, about software I’ve been using since launch. Awesome vid!
First things first...I love you. Thank you, because you just taught me more tricks in an 8 minute video than I learned from hours of other tutorials 😂🔥🔥🔥
Ive been using procreate for years and i knew a grand total of 4 of these. You’re a life saver, especially for the last one. The number of times I could have used that!
Would really love for Procreate to port to Android, but barring that, would love to see a video like this for Infinite Painter hidden features. Great video!
Great video, but it also highlights what I find super frustrating about all iOS apps. For example, instead of selecting a bunch of layers and then dragging them across onto the canvas to duplicate, why can’t all apps have a pseudo “right click” where you select, then “right click” by holding down the pencil and opposite hand finger, (or something similar). You would then have the option to cut, copy, duplicate, open in new window etc depending on what app you’re in, instead of memorising a bunch a random gestures for each app. I may be missing something, so please let me know if I am.
Thank you so much! You are so good at explaining. My English is not perfect but i could understand most everything!👍👍
I'm an Android tablet artist (with CSP as my main app), and the closest I tried to Procreate is Infinite Painter (esp with the "stroke auto correction" kinda thing). As much as its a good app, I do wish its UI and QoL features was more like Procreate and honestly its the only thing I'm jealous about the ipad lol. I still really love my Galaxy Tab (which I bought from your reviews!) tho, that I kinda wish Samsung would cooperate with the Procreate team to bring it over to Android haha Edit: Also the demonstration at 2:18 is REALLY smooth, great job!
maybe one of the reason why developer preferring ipad over android is the way you can easily sideloaded pirated app on android. procreate is great app with a lot of superb gesture features for tablet but for me it can't replace csp for my serious workflow and time saving edit: Procreate one time payment is the best part of it, with fairly low price too
Thank you, have been meaning to look up some of these as i got so confused by the color dropping and so on! New to the iPad and thus procrate hehe, Thanks!
My first thought when I read the title of the video was "there will be no hidden feature or any tips I don't know already, as usual in this type of video" but I watched the video anyway because I enjoy any content related to creativity, and I was surprised that there is more than 5 new tips and it was very useful, long pressing on the eraser and smudge tool is what I really needed, thank you very much 💜💜
Great tips... I am very new to procreate and these are all really amazing features... I noticed when you dragged and dropped the layers to another canvas you said sometimes they import in reverse... I know in Adobe software when you copy and paste if you select them top to bottom or bottom to top it will paste them in that order too... Quite possibly this would be the same in Procreate as it seems to have a lot of Adobe influence in its creation...
Good tips, thanks for the video. I can't understand why in Procreate it is not possible to change the brush size with 3 finger swipe. That works with Artstudio and that works with Infinity painter. This flaw was one of the reasons why I switched to Artstudio and rarely use Procreate anymore.
wish i knew about the fine scrubbing on the brush size sooner 😭😭 thanks for these tips brad! huge help! although the 4 finger tap for full screen didnt work for me idk why
My fave tip is that if you alpha lock a layer then color drop onto that layer, you do not need to make an additional selection if all you want to do is color a silhouette or singular shape.
MORE OF THIS , but in the new RUclips "shorts" format! Also organize them on playlist by category, for example "Procreate #shorts- working with layers", "Procreate #shorts - Eraser tips!" etc GREAT VIDEO!
Bruuhhhhhh this is such a helpful video oh my gosh. Thank you for making it so straight to the point and easily explaining it. Amazing video. A lot of fun tips that ive never heard of before ♡♡♡♡ Much love!
Learn a lot from you're video Brad (after your course on udemy) one of the possibilities I miss is the private photo. (and file) sometimes really handy!
When you import multiple layers to a different canvas make sure you open the layer tab on that canvas and drop them there. That way they won’t get reorganised!
3:30 If you're Ibispaint users. I think you're is getting shocked. Because a long time you still draws that background after drawing the characters right?!. I think Procreate is deserved more than professional users because it's really amazing
I’ve accidentally four finger tapped the entire UI away SO MANY TIMES and just tried everything to get it back and succeeded. But never knowing what I did 😂 Happy to finally learn how to do it haha
Thank you to Proko for sponsoring this video! The first 100 people to use code COLBOW20 will get 20% off their first order on Proko: www.proko.com/browse/courses
When you move layers to the new canves ,drop them on layers not on canvas , it will be in right order
My guess is that the layers go on to the new canvas in the order that you selected them.
This is like the only video that actually tells me new stuff lmao- I’m getting procreate for my birthday so your vids are very helpful :)
Same the wait is terrible! Not for my birthday but I bought an iPad and it's arriving in like three weeks.
I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT, I'M NEW TOO IT'S ANAZING ALL THAT YOU CAN DO WITH IT. ARE YOU GETTING A PENCIL WITH IT? MAYBE A SUPRISE.
HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY. 🥳

3 WEEKS, OMGOSH THAT'S PURE TORTURE. LOL.
THE WAIT WILL BE WORTH IT THOUGH. . . 21 DAYS & COUNTING.

What Ipad model is he using?

I’m mostly right handed but prefer to keep my interface on my left…

Awesome
oh dang! I didn't know that!!!
@@thebradcolbow yeah, and the cool part is that it automatically puts each page in a separate layer.
What if the pdf has more pages than the max layer limit of the ipad?
And how can I import it into procreate? I find most annotation tools lacking
@@panda_314 I do it by saving the pdf in a folder (iPad or a cloud service).
