Imagine if all devs took notice of this!...
Ever since RTX first debuted, it seems to me they wanted it to have a certain wow factor, but in order to achieve that wow factor, they overblew the RTX effects, the saturation and the exposure.... They obviously wanted the wow factor to sell the idea of rtx over classical rasterised fake lighting which had already gotten to a point of looking exceptional, hence why they wanted rtx to look more, erm more...
But for me, that just looks cartoony, completely negating the whole point of rtx!... It has always seemed obvious to me that if you want games to look more photorealistic, then they need to be re-shaded to have less saturation and exposure.
And here we are with this mod video. QED. 🤷

looks good but I honestly feel fov is a bit too close. even smth like extra 5 or 7 degrees will help feel better. in reality you see almost 180 degrees across.
while it's great looking, not a fan of body cam mods, the distorted fish eye like effect is weird, but that's me.

Just another proof they didn't need Unreal, they needed more time and a board that listens to the team and does decide to ship unfinished game (please note, those were not DEVS that made those decision but the board of the directors) - all because it's a stock market company and they have responsibility for shareholders not gamers.

@RicochetForce This argument about finding people is completely incorrect. This is not not just another small studio that is trying to make AA game on Unreal. CDPR had way more experienced people in making such games than almost anyone doing a game on Unreal back then. Why? Because RED Engine WAS the engine for big open world RPG games, Unreal is not - it's still fundamentally single threaded design dating back to late 1990s with garbage collector, UObject, single threaded BeginPlay that is a big problem on streaming etc. I could go on an on. It only has pretty renderer put on top or nice looking first impression tools. Any actual devs that did games on Unreal knows that it's not an engine for such big and complex games. I still wonder what kind of empty promises Epic did to them so they agreed. I highly doubt Epic will change anything in the engine for CDPR (like streaming for example) and if they do help them with the feature it's still a huge pain in the a** to support integrations with newer engine versions. Been there, done that. I honestly think the only reason they switched was that they had a huge problem keeping people after the Cyberpunk crunch and the fallout and they believed the Epic's snake oil salesmen that they will have easier to find people. People - yes, good people that really know unreal - not so easy or cheap :) It's yet another story when people believe that Epic wants to "help them" when in fact it's their business to shove there engine anywhere they can, nothing else.

@@RicochetForceMan, you are ultra naive? Were you ever in any big game production?
Industry is full of people that know something about Unreal but this is medium to low quality work force. Real experts that know how to optimize and rewrite parts of that engine so shiping an big open world RPG game is actually possible are VERY few and they are expensive. You know that this hiring thing works both ways - people also can choose where they want to work? :)
As of the "Epic help" - I've see this, they do minimal to fullfil the contract, send some B or C-tier people onside that can't help with much. They don't want to change ANYTHING in the engine as well, you usally hear "this feature is no longer going to be updated in UE5", etc.
Also Epic is going full metaverse with Verse language, transactional memory model, etc.
So yeah, there's nothing more to be said here - CDPR did a mistake because they belived a Epic's story and they are f-ed now. They would be better staying with RED Engine for Cyberpunk 2 as it's clearly capable and they ALREADY had all the RPG and Open World done.
