There have been a couple methods, my fav was when you could use powder snow and cauldrons. But yeah he probably used one of them

No, you should not build anything on the nether roof. It is outside the game and if you need to build up there then you clearly have a skill issue.
Wouldn’t say it’s a skill issue many farms like ghast farms and nether based gold farms gain boosted rates from being on the nether roof plus for travel it’s easier / better to build a nether hub on the nether roof etc.
Java has this already and many many people build on the nether roof for said above reasons, you don’t like it don’t build there but for others it’s annoying bedrock doesn’t have this parity from Java considering its lost good features in the name of bedrock parity to Java
in 1.21 the first method seems to be not working for me but the second one immediately got me to the roof

i figured out how to do the regen dupe reliably in singleplayer, first destroy the chest that had the duped items (in the empty chunk) flip the lever to bring the full chest into the empty chunk then fly to the other end of the end island and wait for 1-3 minutes (i just listen to half a song its really non specific) then fly back and flip the lever again to empty the chunk before flying to the other end of the end island and leaving the world, once you come back in the dupe will have worked and so far for me its 100%
before it was called bedrock you could build on the nether roof on the PS3

Why is everybody so obsessed with shortcuts and cheating the game and gaming the system and all those things? Are you really all that bad at Minecraft? Just play the damn game unless you can't because you have skill issues.

If using shortcuts like these make you bad(have skill issues) then watching tutorials on building better also means you have skill issues. Like just get better at building(sarcasm).

I should not have started the discussion in such a provocative manner. My apologies if I came across as rude. And I do believe that your channel has merit because not talking about glitches and bugs doesn't help, quite the contrary actually. I am just against this general vibe I feel sometimes, from your audience not from you, that it would be a good thing that those glitches and bugs exist. Which in a game like Minecraft strikes me as odd especially since there is creative mode and you can literally activate cheats in the game menu. When a community of players such as mine on the server decides unanimously though, to play the game without them, They just pose a nuisance and can be simply game breaking and then all is lost. Don't even get me started with people who are using hacked clients or whatever else they use. And I cannot even put a invite link out there, Because with that they can just come to the realm and basically give themselves enhanced member privileges when they should be just guests with guest privileges only. Needless to say that those people only use this access to destroy everything and then we have to use a backup. The latter of what I said of course has nothing to do with what you do here on the channel, I know, I am just mentioning it because it is the end game if you have this "cheating the game mindset" all the time and inresponsibly.
Could you potentially use it as a poorman's nether hub? Example, break bedrock in more than one area of the nether, and then use the openings on the nether roof to travel between the areas... Could be faster, and "safer"
