  • He's somehow back... after a shoehorned side quest series, we can fight Galdera but he's way tougher than he was in Octo 1.
    To get this quest line, you need to help Al outside of your first character's town, then turn in three books to the library, and finally teach Al how to decipher languages. This will make an island near where you get Arcanist be the Gate of Finis, which you can go from there and beat Galdera. No boss rush, convenient save point and all that.
    For the first stage of the fight, my strategy relied on using Divine Protection under Sealctige's on Hikari to make me invincible. I had two Dancers for that reason, so I could easily reapply even if the eye took away my buffs. I also relied on Ochette's Provoke Beasts skill to keep breaking shields easily. And of course Cassti's medicine really helps here.
    For the second stage, I rely on Temenos using his literal nuke skill to clear the way to the boss, having way too many close calls in the process. Thanks to an excessive sum of money, both phases can be handled by spamming the most expensive hidden Hired Help, as it deals damage and heals. Despite Geldera's massive shields, I'm able to just keep whirling away and keeping myself alive.
    Also of note: I had Partitio Hire the 10 star priest for initial ivulnerability. I had Temenos hire the Tutor for a little shield breaking and meat shielding. Ochette had a Ku Officer which gives a bunch of buffs that I did not have to use. And Agnea had Benkei, whose dance ability gives plus one BP to target.
    Just like in the original, your prize is an item that completely eliminates random encounters. The fight was super hard as Galdera's HP is way higher than before, but I am glad I finally beat it. Phew.

    I love Octopath so much but when I replayed it Galdera was the sole reason as to why I was only willing to 99% the 2nd run. I did it once and never again, I told myself in blissful ignorance. Sure I did consider the sequel having an equally rough superboss, but at least I won't have to relive the trauma Galdera put me through again!
    BOY IT SURE WAS FUN STUMBLING UPON SOME RANDOM ISLAND, FINDING A FAMILIAR ORE FROM ORSTERRA, BEING FILLED WITH DREAD UPON SEEING THOSE ALL TOO FAMILIAR GATES, FEELING A SHIVER GO DOWN MY SPINE WHEN I STEPPED INSIDE, THEN HEAD UP THE STAIRS AGAINST THE ENCROACHING FEAR TELLING ME TO LEAVE AND NEVER COME BACK, ONLY TO HAVE THEM CONFIRMED UPON SEEING THE WORDS 'SPLIT THE PARTY INTO TWO TEAMS'
    Needless to say, I was more than happy Alrond exists to make powerleveling easier. I RELISHED in getting my vengence on Galdera after all the trauma it put me through.

      You probably already figured this out but Galdera in Octopath Traveler 2 is much more of a threat than in the first game. Even the first Galdera makes the normal final boss of Octopath Traveler 2 a joke. Being level 99 will not save you. If you do not have a good plan to take out both his phases... well its like Avenged Sevenfold once said... "It's your fucking nightmare"

    • @thegazellion9920
      @thegazellion9920 Год назад +3

      @@SwedePotato314 The way Alrond works is when you summon him he will randomly pick between 6 buffs for your party using treasure hunt. Job Points X2, X10, X100, and EXP X2, X10, and the one everyone wants X100. He will use treasure hunt twice before retreating from battle and needing to be summoned again so essentially you have 3 summon chances for him to use 6 treasure hunts. Your best options for fast EXP gain are to go to the Infernal Castle and either hunt for Chubby Caits or Farm the Dreadwolf. This fight was the first boss where I actually used Temenos's latent ability. Latent + Sealctige + Elemental Barrage would instantly break the souls while Partitio and Hikari cleaned up. I had a scary moment during the last phase where I didn't notice Temenos's gauge wasn't completely full so Partitio had to bribe Galdera 4 times in the same round(was like a million leaves) so I didn't get owned.
    Stage 2 was actually extremely easy for me because armsmaster Ochette is so disgustingly powerful that Sealctige + Sixfold killed Galdera in like 4-5 rounds.

    This Galdera was crazier than OT1- my fights with phase 2 Galdera were very short (only 3 turns in fact); once he gets his 4 turns in it usually is a party wipe for me. Took quite some time to finally piece together a team that could take him down consistently within 3 turns, because once he starts moving it's basically gg for me.
    With how much damage phase 2 Galdera hits, and the amount of those quick kill strats for him, I doubted if there could be a normal fight with him that doesn't end with a 3-turn party wipe until I came across this vid. Good job surviving it!

  • @ChevaliersEmeraude
    @ChevaliersEmeraude Год назад +4

    I've just beaten him, with characters around level 60-65. There is a way to seriously cheese one of the two parts, so if you're having trouble, here's a (not so) cheap trick! Again, it only works for one of the two parts 'cause you need a specific character there, so the other part, you're on your own! :p Personally, I used it on Part 2, because it's the hardest!
    What you need is 1- have Partitio in your party (and it doesn't work with anyone else, you can't just give the Merchant subclass to a character) and 2- have A LOT of money! Like, I had about 1,500,000 leaves and it was barely enough to cover the fight; I did rely on luck a little bit! If you can, get even more than that! Two, three, maybe four times more! You also need a heavy hitter or two: The quicker you can end the fight the better, obviously, and the least amount of money you'll need!
    Anyway, the point is you need to rely on the Negotiate Schedule skill. It's a skill that is absolutely unique to Partitio, and it allows you, as the description says, to act during your opponent's turn! What this doesn't tell you is that it also take away the opponent's turn!!! So when it's Partitio's turn, look at which body part of Galdera is next in line, use Negotiate Schedule on it, and there you go: That body part lost its turn, and you just gained another one! One that you can use to rinse and repeat the process until the fight is over!!!
    There's a few flaws with that trick: Firstly, you can't use Negotiate Schedule on the main body part until everything else is gone! So that body part still gets its turns. When the rest of its body parts are gone, though, you can use it. Flaw number 2: Like I said, this ability costs A LOT of money! Not only that, using it on the same enemy over and over, the cost keeps going up! So you have to make sure that you have enough cash on hand to use that ability AND that you have a lot of damage output so that you can finish the fight quickly; otherwise you'll run out!
    So, yeah, it's not without risks, but it's still a very cheesy way to finish him off with little effort! If you're having trouble against Galdera, consider the Negotiate Schedule skill: It's a game changer!
