Hello friends,
and welcome to part two of my Sublime "Santeria" lessons series. In this session we'll be employing a simple reggae or ska style strumming pattern as I break down the rhythm guitar parts for the intro, verse and chorus sections. For those of you who have made progress playing barre chord shapes, this is an excellent tune to test your skills. Let's get started!

I know your busy, But could you are someone that knows please explain Why there is a major 3rd chord instead of a minor chord? In other words how and why is the G-sharp in this chord progression major when in the E major key it should be minor. I love theory so that's why I'm asking. PLEASE HELP

Minor to Major back to minor is in alot of music. It helps change the emotion of the song from bright major to dark minor and back. I dont kno if theres a name for it but it makes your ears happy hearing what you wernt expecting with the mood change as well

I have a general question concerning picking: Is it a good idea to let the Picking hand rest on your Pinky? I'm used to it through fingerstyle playing and I wonder if I might get any disadvantages when applying that to flatpicking.

Ya know as a musician.. I can appreciate a guy that sings and plays.. but for alot of these guys.. it's like.."look what I can do" it distracts me from learning the dam guitar riff.its not a open mic night dude.
The purpose of the demonstration is for the viewer to learn the song structure, which is much easier with the lyrics. If you continue watching the lesson, I break down each riff without singing, so that the student is getting a full picture of the song. Also, my most engaged subscribers look forward to the performance segments, and it provides me with a source of motivation to learn the song so well that I can play it while singing. Lastly, many viewers are using the performance for practice, jamming along once they’ve reach proficiency. Have fun!

Acoustic Mario there are plenty of other guitar teachers you can go watch. one of my favorite parts of his tutorials is that he sings the whole song and gives the playing context. be more appreciative of a free lesson buddy
@@masonstanley1178 um no. Im allowed to have opinions for one. Second if you just lie and say oh hes great he will not develop hos singing abilty. Singing well or even acceptably is just as difficult as playing guitar if you are not gifted with voice.
I will not lie to the man and tell him he has nothing to work on. Its just constructive critiscim to work on singing before posting videos of onesself singing as a"lesson" hes clearly good with the guitar and clearly needs to work on vocals. So until such a day that he puts the work in to master his voice it would probably better for him not to lie.
I didnt "enjoy" the lesson and immediately went to another instructor because of it. Im trying to help his sub count out.

I’ve never used auto tune. I just work hard until I can sing the songs passably for the sake of instruction. I find it helps students understand where they are in the arrangement. I’m sure you’ll find that my vocal performances continue to improve, especially on songs that are right for my voice. I’d also appreciate it if you keep your criticisms constructive, as putting other musicians down is in extremely poor taste.
