I think it supports any generation. I never heard of M.2 Generation incompatibility. I mean, if you get Gen 4 and the laptop is Gen 3, it will just work like a Gen 3.

If dell offers a longer life battery replacement you can easily upgrade it. There is a 6 cell 86Wh battery available in the datasheet so you might be able to buy that one.

1. You need a Phillips head screwdriver, with a bit that is the correct size (multi-bit kits have the proper size) - i used magnetic bits. If the screws don't come out is not a problem, just make sure they are not holding the cover anymore. There is a special screw on the side with the LAN port ( 1:58 ) that will stay with the plastic cover and create a gap for you to start releasing the plastic clips. Use a plastic card or a guitar pick or something else and slide it along that gap until the plastic cover comes off. Don't push the plastic card too much into the chassis. I would recommend you buy a standard M.2 2280 size since 2230 are hard to find. If you plan on expanding and not replacing the current ssd you will need the mounting bracket that is not included in the box, you can buy one on amazon or contact Dell support www.amazon.com/Drive-Mounting-Support-Bracket-Laptop/dp/B097MYD2B6. Place the bracket at the m.2 2280 mark ( 2:42), it slides in. Place your SSD and use the screw that is included with the bracket. 2. Yes 3. 99% of laptops have their GPU soldered, and some, very few, big expensive laptops have a replaceable GPU MXM socket. They are all called laptop GPU, you cannot put a desktop GPU in your laptop. On this model the GPU and CPU chips are on the keyboard side.

the performance difference isnt that big tbh, ryzen seems better for the battery life. but sometimes intel models can have a mux switch and not amd models so you should check that

1. For first question there should be some online tutorials. 2. For second question, it depends on your ram configuration. You should download and install hwinfo and see how many ram sticks you have. if you have 1 , it's enough to buy another 1, if you have 2, you need to replace both.

It's up to you really. The G15 is a pretty good laptop, but not the best. The Legion 5 is definitely better. The G15 has its own niche. It's designed to be a budget gaming laptop with professional looks and great temperatures and build quality. The Legion 5 is very similar, just not as slim and good looking, but wins in the performance/temperature department. If the price of the G15 seems good, you won't regret getting the G15. The main downside of the G15 is the difficulty of upgrade, you need to take the laptop apart to upgrade the RAM.
@@Notebcom unfortunately the legion 5 with the same features, although great, isn't available anywhere in India. This is the alternative when compared with tuf a15, hp victus, acer nitro and lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3. The legion that is available in India has 5600h + gtx1650 for the price of INR 75k. Whereas the dell was for 70k.

First of all, it's very hard to upgrade this laptop. You need to take the whole think apart in order to upgrade the RAM or SSD. The SSD should be enough for another 2 years with 512 GB. The RAM it's best to upgrade to 16GB , but you need to completely replace the RAM and buy 2 x 8 GB sticks, as the laptop comes with 2 X 4GB of RAM.

I don't know about the ideapad 3, we haven't tested it. Read the review, the g15 has solid build , much better than the ideapad. The screen on Lenovo legion 5 or nitro 5 is much better.

For 200 dollars, i think the Dell is a better choice. Changing the ram is going to be painful and you will need two sticks, but overall it should still end up cheaper than the g513.

You need to change the primary driver from BIOS settings. I don't know the exact procedure for this laptop, we no longer have it. To install windows you need to download the windows 10 ISO and burn it to an USB Stick using Rufus. you then boot from the USB stick (again, look online on how to do that for your laptop) and from there on it should be pretty simple.
You don't need to reinstall windows if you only add another SSD, if you plan on replacing the current one, you need to reinstall Windows. The laptop will boot the SSD that has a Windows installed on it. You can override this by using the boot menu key or reordering the boot manager in bios.
@@g-money3183 Try to disable secure boot, or press for boot menu F12. You don't need to change boot order, just have one windows installation. Force boot via F12 , delete old partition in windows installation setup, create windows partitions on new SSD.

I think it will work fine. All M.2 SSDs run hot, and when they do, they reduce their speed. Those maximum read/write speeds you see for SSDs are only possible for a few seconds, most of them run at much lower speeds to prevent overheating.

It's a motherboard that has most of its components under the keyboard and difficult to access. It usually means that to replace/upgrade the ram or change the thermal paste, it is necessary to take the whole laptop apart. In most "normal" laptops it is enough to open their back panel and get access to most of its components.
Depends on what you are used to. Most monitors have a slight blueish tint from factory because, for some reason, people they produce better image if it's slightly blueish.

Eu tinha o Inspiron Gaming 15 7567 e realmente era muito quente. Troquei pelo mais frio do mercado que era o Legion 5i, em situações normais ele realmente é frio, mas jogando também esquenta, não tem jeito apesar de esquentar menos. Além disso peguei dois Legions com defeitos de tela e tive que devolver, é muito bem construído mas a tela é de péssima qualidade. Agora vou comprar o G15 e cruzar os dedos para que o time de desenvolvimento e pesquisa tenham arrumado esses problemas de esquentar, não é possível que entra modelo e sai modelo e eles não trabalhem nisso.

It depends on what model did you bought. Some have only a specific color not RGB, and you can only adjust brightness.

You don't need to reinstall windows if you only add another SSD, if you plan on replacing the current one, you need to reinstall Windows. The laptop will boot the SSD that has a Windows installed on it. You can override this by using the boot menu key or reordering the boot manager in bios.

@@g-money3183 Try to disable secure boot, or press for boot menu F12. You don't need to change boot order, just have one windows installation. Force boot via F12 , delete old partition in windows installation setup, create windows partitions on new SSD.

I think it will work fine. All M.2 SSDs run hot, and when they do, they reduce their speed. Those maximum read/write speeds you see for SSDs are only possible for a few seconds, most of them run at much lower speeds to prevent overheating.

It's a motherboard that has most of its components under the keyboard and difficult to access. It usually means that to replace/upgrade the ram or change the thermal paste, it is necessary to take the whole laptop apart. In most "normal" laptops it is enough to open their back panel and get access to most of its components.

Depends on what you are used to. Most monitors have a slight blueish tint from factory because, for some reason, people they produce better image if it's slightly blueish.

Yes, we stayed at 120hz. You probably don't have Optimus enabled. Try to force the laptop to use only the integrated GPU while in battery.

Eu tinha o Inspiron Gaming 15 7567 e realmente era muito quente. Troquei pelo mais frio do mercado que era o Legion 5i, em situações normais ele realmente é frio, mas jogando também esquenta, não tem jeito apesar de esquentar menos. Além disso peguei dois Legions com defeitos de tela e tive que devolver, é muito bem construído mas a tela é de péssima qualidade. Agora vou comprar o G15 e cruzar os dedos para que o time de desenvolvimento e pesquisa tenham arrumado esses problemas de esquentar, não é possível que entra modelo e sai modelo e eles não trabalhem nisso.
