Fun to learn with you! I looted Kreet like crazy, loading up Vasco also. I later learned if I go to the ship menu there's an option to inspect the ship's cargo--and can transfer stuff there as well. Transfer magic? "What does my watch do anyway!" LOL I want to know that too!
You probably know this already, but if you use Scan mode, the cutter comes up automatically. Also, you have to get near the creature to scan it. You will see a progress bar move up, but one creature isn't enough to get a full scan. You have to scan a lot of animals and plants. Oh, and minerals also show up in scan mode. You will use scan mode a lot in this game.
Edit: I am commenting as I watch the video. With all the stuff you are finding it almost sounds like the junk collecting in Fallout :) About Fallout, that robot acts a bit like Dogmeat 😁
I had the same feelings that you did regarding lootable containers. So much of it is just set decoration that you can't interact with. I kept thinking of Skyrim as well. Everything was lootable. It might only have fancy boots or gloves but it felt far more immersive than Starfield for that reason. I'm really enjoying Starfield but it really does feel less like a Bethesda game than their other titles.
I also took Vasco's laser cartridges not thinking he'd need them. I assumed it'd be like FO4 where we don't need to give Codsworth flamer fuel even though he has a flamethrower.
I’m sure you know this cause you’re a few episodes ahead, but you took all the energy cells from Vasco. Now he can’t shoot. You need to leave at least one ammo like in previous games. Also use your scanner for everything. It will help find loot and mineable rocks and more. Also use it to scan creatures after you kill them to get more info. The more you use it the more you learn about the world around you. Seems a pain at the beginning, but becomes second nature and invaluable as you get used to it.
Yeah, I realized that I took his ammo in the next episode, lol. In Skyrim and Fallout 4 the companions have infinite hidden ammo, and so it didn't occur to me that it would be any different in Starfield.
@@WastelandDovahkiin I figured you would have it figured out by the next episode. 😊 As far as I know they have infinite ammo as long as they have one round in their inventory.
The Digipick mini game certainly isn't "your grandma's lockpick mini game". Nice to see something new, But yeah not the most straight forward lockpick. So the GOAL to THIS lockpick game is to FILL in all the HOLES with the KEYS. That was a Novice lock and it had 2 layers of security and 4 keys. The TRICK is to line up each KEY so all the wholes are filled when you insert all of them. This is not the most obvious process at first, but im sure you will get it. As bit of a tip, you don't have to insert any of the keys till you are SURE you will fill all the holes. In fact the game will freely let you cycle between each key, rotate them and it remember the orientation when you switch between them, so you can set up all the keys before attempting to pick the lock. Might save you a few "lock picks".
Tips for those who want them - -- Right-Click/Aim with the Cutter to focus the beam for faster mining. -- The Scanner works in the dark, so you can leave your light off to preserve Stealth. -- Manual Scan things for your Survey. When successful, the target turns Blue. When complete, they will be Green automatically. -- Scanner highlights pretty much everything you can interact with. -- Security has another sucky Tutorial. Basic locks have 4 rings, and you can line them all up before slotting them. This can save a lot of picks. Upper tier locks will have more rings than you need. Security rank 3 or 4 makes the circles turn color if the active pick can be slotted. This does NOT mean it is the right one. -- Vasco has a laser, and this is the most annoying I have seen him in action. Companions need ammo, like a Settler in FO4. If Vasco is missing its ammo, then no lasers. BTW, it is very easy to take all of a companion's gear. Including suits, clothes, helmets, weapons, etc. -- The DR calculation is pretty weighty, but functions the same way as Fallout. Getting an armor piercing semi-auto will punch through even more than you see in Fallout. The difference does change a bit with Difficulty level. -- Please loot more. -- The item descriptions are basically the same as FO76, currently. The difference is Stars are now color levels. Blue = 1 star; Purple = 2 star; Orange (gold) = 3 star. ALSO, the mods are randomized, too. So find a weapon platform with an effect or 3 you like and hold onto them until you unlock the modding for them. There is a locker on the ship to keep it separate. The name addons like "Modified" or "Calibrated" only mean that they have been modded, NOT what exact mods are on it. -- Some quests are found on notes and heard rumors. Many people find a really cool quest on pirates right here on Kreet. -- The Vasco here is really bad. Seriously, something is wrong with his pathing. Every other time he is a decent rapid fire companion. Here he is constantly teleporting onto you when you are only a few steps away. -- Persuade is a little complicated. Red choices are harder rolls, but they are not necessarily bad choices. If your final chance succeeds, you get more chances to build points. Green choices CAN fail. You actually have to read the tells of the target. Choosing the "trade ships" option is actually a joke, and can go either way. The Persuade skill gives you a % boost to your chance of succeeding. -- Weapons tend to have the best weight to sell value ratio. Booze and delicacies being next. Pharma is great, too. --- Pirate Raiding Packs are Boost Packs, as well. -- If you like looting, get Weight Lifting and Fitness ASAP. -- You can re-map your control scheme. -- Companions = Mules. They carry stuff. --- Exploring non-quest areas can lead to random encounters. There might be a Bounty Hunter on Kreet looking to take down a pirate boss at an abandoned hangar. You might find a neat grove of crystals. Or you might be introduced to your 1st Terrormorph. Have fun.
When I'm wrong, I admit it. The tags like Modified and Calibrated show the level tier of the gear. There are other tags, like Furious, that are legendary effect equivalents. From what I can see, you can up the stats of a weapon about 20%. Probably the same for armor/suits. The tags go [blank] - Modified - Calibrated - Refined - Advanced - Superior. Each tier does a little more damage, has a little more DR, etc. The difference between Modified and Superior is noticeable, but tiers next to each other are pretty close. You won't see Superior til level 35+ enemies show up.
To use your scanner push left bumper. To turn light on hold left bumper. Note that when you use scanner it automatically switches to the cutter so you don't really need it on favorites
Instead of dropping gear give it to your partner to carry They are glorified mules and when you get back to your ship store it especially minerals if you are not actively building settlements.
You can Scan stuff btw, a easy way to earn Money. On planets you visit you can scan: Minerals, Fauana (creatures) and Florua (plants). Minerals are the easiest since you just have to find one deposit and it will record it, it also shows ALL the minerals on the planet you can find. Then when you scan planets in the future it will show you where those Minerals are on a planet. As for Creatures and Plants, you have to scan mutiples of. Each creature/plant you scan will give you a % of scan data, slowly revealing information about said Creature/Plant, Once it hits 100% your good. You have to get REAL CLOSE (10 meters) to scan stuff. Investing in the surveying skill increase the distance you can scan from among other things. Also not all Creatures are Hostile. If they do not immediately attack, long as you give them enough space, they will not become hostile. The Stalker for example, pretty sure long as you don't get up close to it, it will just stare at you menacingly, but otherwise won't attack you.
Yeah I know, I just keep forgetting to do it, lol. And back when I recorded this I'd forgotten how to do it. So much stuff to remember all at once, my goldfish brain can't cope! lol
@@WastelandDovahkiin LOL. Yeah, i think this is by far the WORST introduction to a Bethesda game to date. It kinda just throws everything at you in under what 30 mins to an hour? Alot to take in and we haven't even gotten though the "tutorial" Dungeon yet or done the first persuasion dialogue. Edit: I stand corrected, but the point still stands.
Combat in this game was brutal until I found a mod to make it less like The Division and more realistic to combat. So, you may want to switch to PC at some point, just for all the fun Nexus mods that are fixing this game. They already fixed the graphics to run with high end PCs, the way it was meant to too. But yeah, look at NEXUS mods at some point and you will see what I mean.
I'm sure there are plenty of great mods already, but I've chosen to do a vanilla run for my first play through. I will eventually do a character role play on PC, and then I will use mods.
I have to admit, but I've been cheating on you--watching other channels---and now I want to return to your sane, humane world where the soul can dance .... and play .... and have genuine fun a wonderful world....
You missed a really nice laser rifle in the dide room on the second floor.

When you are using the digipicks, you can check each circle that you have the correct sequence before committing the digipick.
Fun game
Thrusters are what you are looking for. That is the tech tree.

Just a tip that you may already know, pick up all the bandages because you'll need them to aid with bleed damage.

when in a ship you have a best turn rate speed. line your speed indicator up with the bright white area to the right of your speed indicator.
Yeah, figured that out later.
