    I agree with you on all points, especially on that of the 1.2 engine for the 4x4.
    We'll have to wait and try it, but it's hard to believe that it will be as good as the 1.5 diesel for off road.
    Same thing about the approach angle.
    Overall I'm a bit sceptical...

    The main reason why I von't even conceder of buying this is that thay don''t offer my favorite 1.3 engine with 150hp and 4x4. If that was not the case, I would buy it right away. 1.2 and 3 cylinder??? No way

    The overall impression is WOW! for almost all people see this new generation Duster and also for me.
    But I agree with you on all points, especially the engine and the front angle.
    I'm currently owner of Duster 2022 4WD Diesel and I'm quite satisified with it. If upcoming legislative measures and diesel prices will not penalize us, probably, I will keep it later.

    Thank you for your research, I am buying a Duster later next year and I still am a little bit hesitant in choosing between the two models, the new 2024 duster is really nice inside and out but with reduced rear visibility, the older but still fresh looking 2021-2023 duster is really good on off-road performance but lacks a little bit in the interior aspect for me because it feels like everything is too minimalistic. I love the programable "my safety" button where you can turn off alerts and invasive safety tech in the new one tho.

  • @MG3-Hybrid

    The choice of engine seems to be the biggest complaint so far for the new 2024 Duster...should have kept the Diesel 1.5 and the spare wheel for the 4 x 4

    Almost all agree. But we still do not have enough information about the highest, full hybrid version. It will be exciting to have it in a 4x4 version. Like X-Trail e-4orce, but with Duster geometry and a "more democratic" price :)

    so, as commonly, among the first ones to hit the keyboard (😅), agreeing almost fully, "almost" because the "wow" effect (outer-inner design) in my opinion does not really impress me THAT much. Basically, Dacia left the "uniqueness" path and started to merge with mainstream "fancy SUVs". Dacia 2 still kept the capabilities of the first and updated one, balanced between functionality-simplicity-visual, kept well seasoned and reliable engines (at least in the beginning) and than started to erode (LPG, new antipollution systems etc.). I am 100% sure Duster 3 will not be for me, neither by design, nor by equipment (seems they are including the electronic hand brake....how is that system any better compared to mechanical one ?). I loved Duster's shape, "philosophy", idea and, the fact of the most available VERY solid AWD vehicle for an average buyer......well, not anymore 😔 I don't care about "fanciness" and this is exactly where Dacia went merging with others......no question I would rather buy a facelifted or early second generation Duster than version 3, or even the today's facelifted 2s.....I remain positive about the brand (both Dacia and Renault) but they are loosing strongly their appeal in my eyes....especially true for Dacia, which caught my heart with how they entered arena with a clear fresh approach....too bad it lasted short...sorry for my pessimism....

      I share your pessimism😉 Handbrake: Mihai showed a DIII 4wd photo with manual handbrake - I have some doubts if this was a fake as I can´t believe that they will have two versions in manfufactoring.
      AND: I agree with what you´ve written, BUT this is mainly valid for the Duster line. E.g. the Jogger (which is of no interest for us) seams to be done well. So be fair with Dacia.😉

    As a whole what percentage of sales of the Duster are 4x4 models? I can see this varying from country to country. However, I should think 4X4 sales in the UK would be fairly small. Also the UK has never received any Dacia with a sunroof - probably to keep the costs down.

    • @DusterCoolTravels
      @DusterCoolTravels  4 месяца назад

      You’re right, the 4x4 versions of Duster are not a big part of the whole sales of the model and of the 3rd gen 4x4 model will be weaker in offroad, this will get the number even lower in the few years it will be sold.

  • @alteregoklause1694
    @alteregoklause1694 7 месяцев назад +3

    You still want to change your DII for a DIII?😉 And for what reason??? Still waiting for an answer...😉
    However I have a slightly different view on the pros and cons:
    1. I never experienced any significant difference in fuel consumption 2wd vs. automatic mode but it drives even little worse on street with 2wd (and yes, I drive as fast as a Duster can do).
    2. Front bumper: I completly agree, that´s a no-go! Just done for the look?
    3. Engine - nothing to discuss. Bullshit and no-go for offroad.
    4. 18"-rims: as you mentioned you can change them easily. BUT the bigger wheel diameter is an ADVANTAGE in terms of ground clearance and available A/T and M/T tires!!! B.t.w.: OEM-wheels always have been rubbish, rim width of 6.5" is not good and they are heavy anyway.
    The first I do for any new Duster I bought ist to change them to TEC Speedwheels AS4 17x7.5et38 - cheap (100€) and good!
    5. Panoramic sunroof: seriously? Who the hell wants this for an offroader? It will decrease stiffness (!), increase heat and cold, raise weight (aprox. +16-20kg on the top (!) of the car and its fully useless while driving in dusty environments.
    My additional cons:
    6. no improvement on camera resolution (not expensive to do but almost impossible to change later) and water/dirt prevention. In general it´s very helpful front and right while driving through difficult parts and while passing top of hills / driving down.
    7. SIZE: The inner height seems to be reduced. For Minicamper applications a clear disadvantage! But it´s reported to be wider - not good for offroading.
    8. Price: to my knowledge the 4wd will be 4.000-5.000€ more expensive compared to the current model - WHY??? What for?

    • @GLMtr
      @GLMtr 7 месяцев назад +2

      18inch rims with 215/60 tires makes it much bigger in diameter compared to 2.gen 215/60r17 increasing final ratio so they'll have to shorten 1st gear or shorten final ratio in gearbox which to my knowledge is impossible in TL8 gearbox so unless 3.gen gets completely newly designed gearbox for 4x4, bigger wheels will not serve any good, Duster will become just another city oriented SUV.

    • @alteregoklause1694
      @alteregoklause1694 7 месяцев назад

      @@GLMtr good point! Hopefully they will rebuild the gearbox completly. Or reduce the overall ratio...
      B.t.w.: german regulations allow -2% reduced tire diameter (compared to OEM) without any adjustment, so you are free to use the old size 215/60r17 or 215/65r16 if you feel the need.
      To go for bigger sizes than OEM is almost impossible (legal).

    As probably most of the former, current and future customers of Duster won't even consider going out of the city with their car hence the changes that would transform it into a mild SUV.
    But I believe this is a trend in the automotive industry and if we consider that lately the UK banned a commercial to a SUV that was too aggressive with the environment you'll have a full picture.
    Sad but true.

    The most contradictory comments I have ever seen. “I want to use it for off-road” followed by “why no panoramic sunroof?” 😂. With regards to small engine size and power output for off-road use, one word. “Jimny”. Arguably one of the very best off road vehicles ever created, yet with a poxy 1.3 long stroke small bore 4 pot producing 84 BHP. I have one. Trust me, they do very well off-road.

      @alteregoklause1694 3 месяца назад

      We know this very well😉 Duster Cool Travels showed this several times, he´s very neutral. But the Jimney is by far to small for longer journeys or for use as an Mini-Camper (as I do). A "Bigster Jimney" 😄with 170+PS would have been my choice (beside reliability concerns).

    I am keeping my 2.gen 1.33tce 110kw 4x4 as long as possible because it will absolutely spank 3.gen Duster in performance on and offroad, 3.gen will no longer be cheap 4x4 but rather expensive city SUV with no prestige so OG costumers that wanted cheap and capable 4x4 will look elsewhere whilst others will buy something from other brands because Dacia is still viewed by many as cheap post-communist trash that doesn't resemble luxury, pretty sure there will never be 4.gen Duster since 3.gen will lose it's place on market being replaced by some cheap Chinese SUV's.

      I performed short test drive with Duster II 1.3TCe 150 EDC. This transmission is not suitable for offroad. Unbelivable strong smell from burned clutch after attempts to climb on wet grass. Same smell effects I observed on Arkana EDC test videos. Same smell is good known for Hyu Kona 4x4 DCT, or Tucson DCT.
      So, DCT is not good solution for any kind of offroading. If offroad and AT, then only with hydrodynamic converter like Aisin.
