Pla Mae Nam Restaurant (ร้านปลาแม่น้ำ), or river fish restaurant in one of my ultimate favorite restaurants in Bangkok, Thailand. If you love spicy food, this is a place you will love.
This was a spur of the moment meal and video - I was hanging out with my friend Drew ( / thehungrypartier , and after going to a floating market, we happened to be not too far away. So we stopped off to eat at Pla Mae Nam Restaurant (ร้านปลาแม่น้ำ), a restaurant I’m willing to travel to the ends of the earth to eat at.
They have a full menu of Thai dishes, most of them quite spicy, and most of them using freshwater fish - that’s even what the name of the restaurant is.
Here are the dishes we ordered:
Chili stir fry (ผัดเผ็ดปลาเค้า) - This is probably my favorite dish to order here, they make no mistakes, it’s literally liquid fire curry, and you can choose your choice of fish to go with it. The herbs also balance the heat, including both holy basil and sweet basil.
Jungle curry eel (แกงป่าปลาไหล) - Here’s also one of the greatest dishes, and it happens to be one of the best versions in all of Bangkok for me. This jungle curry will blow your taste buds off your tongue!
Fried fish cakes (ทอดมันปลากราย) - The fried fish cakes are a dish that just about no one who eats at Pla Mae Nam Restaurant (ร้านปลาแม่น้ำ) doesn’t order, and they happen to be the best I’ve ever had. They are so spongy.
Fried fish (ปลาเนื้ออ่อนทอด) - Again, you can choose your fish, which is deep fried, topped with fried garlic, and served with sauce and pineapple.
Fried frog (กบทอดกระเทียม) - Another dish we decided to try this meal was fried frog. The frog was very meaty, and delicious.
Shrimp, stink beans (กุ้งผัดสะตอ) - Finally, our waitress talked us into ordering stink beans - it wasn’t very hard to talk me into it. It’s always a favorite dish of mine. It was superb, nothing short of flavor overdose in the mouth.

Words cannot expressed how much I love this food channel. Mark is one of the best in the game right now. His unique way and amazing persona is what makes me tune in every time he uploads one of those amazing food videos.

I always enjoy watching Mark's videos because of his positivity, enthusiasm and passion. It's is awesome to watch. But there is something even more magical that seeps out of him when he's show off his country's food (Thailand). You can tell his in love with Thai cuisine.

Thanks for introducing us to this restaurant. I took my 80 years old dad there last week and he loved it. It’s now one of his favorite restaurants in Bangkok.

Man! I am a Thai guy. I am impressed with how well foreigners get along with Thais pretty well. There are tons of restaurants like this in Thailand; so hard to pick which one to go to. Awesome!

@@li1asia Just to clarify, the DES is not the DSP. DES clients are on Newstart and have mild disabilities which are not severe enough for them to qualify for the DSP. Their job search workload is reduced and they don't have to do WFTD.

Mark and Drew makes the best pair of food vlogger of all time, in my opinion. I love, every time I see both of you together.
Really, Mark is the best of the best to describe how good is the food that he’s trying in every single video. Thailand in my opinion is the best food in the world, I know every country has their own food and flavors. But I eaten a lot of Thailand food last year and I think is the best. Or probably because I love spiciest food

When mark drank the water I expected him to roll his eyes, open his mouth and say, oh wow ! oh my god ! the water taste soooo good.

I like the fact that there are some foods that you must drive out of the way for. That fish feast looked AWESOME!!!! Spices and herbs. Asian philosophy, "Eat yourself healthy." When that rain started, everything looked dreamy. Rain has negative ions. Which means you start to feel good. Along with the herbs, spices and food, everybody must have been feeling a kind of euphoria.
You can be full and watching one of Mark's videos make you hungry all over again.

Hi Mark, I'm back from my holiday! I went to Phuket in Thailand, I stayed in Patong and the best restaurant for the authentic Thai food is 'Song Pee Nong'! Thailand is so vast, energetic and beautiful! Love you Wiens family! 😙😙🇿🇦🇿🇦💙💙
I found the phuket food was mostly the same in reach restaurant. Probably because it's an island. After a while i wanted something more unusual... So we travelled!

Go. Friendliest people and amazing food. Only thing I'd say is stray off the beaten path, best places people and food are found far from the tourist spots, another thing is the worst things you'll see are the product or direct consequence of tourism because of the full moon party scene and prostitution in the main hot spots the North seems to be the nicest. Chang mai is a must!
