KHON KAEN, THAILAND (ขอนแก่น) - Khon Kaen is a major city in the Isan northeastern region of Thailand. Today we’re going on a crazy spicy street food tour of Khon Kaen where @JoelsTastyRide and I will be eating at a legendary beef restaurant, followed by insanely spicy green papaya salad, and a comforting bowl of noodles. Let’s get started eating amazing Thai street food.
Prasit Pochana ประสิทธิ์โภชนา (goo.gl/maps/a3eqoBSJNdkn7krNA) Total price - 950 THB ($28.73) - The first place we went is Prasit Pochana (ประสิทธิ์โภชนา), a legendary meat, especially Isan beef restaurant. They specialize in dishes like Thai crying tiger beef, and jaew hon, an Isan style hot pot. It’s an amazing restaurant, one of the best in Khon Kaen especially if you love meat.
Som Tam Parinya ส้มตำปริญญา (goo.gl/maps/oE7BDi2fpiyHBAUL8) Total price - 380 THB (11.51) - Next up on this Khon Kaen street food tour we headed over to one of Joel’s favorite places to eat Isan / Lao papaya salad, known as the University degree papaya salad - Som Tam Parinya ส้มตำปริญญา. Their pla ra, fermented fish sauce is a true highlight here. And they pounded us up some insanely spicy combinations.
Jay Hong เจ๊หงส์ โจ๊ก จั๊บ ต้มเส้น (goo.gl/maps/w6XqZWdkMEW9tMwDA) Price - about 40 THB per bowl ($1.21) - After a crazy amount of chilies for lunch we decided to eat something a little calm and comforting for dinner - noodles.

Mark is the new “Andrew Zimmern” when it comes to traveling for the authentic food of different countries. I especially love his food tour videos of the Philippines 🇵🇭 (my homeland). It gave me a sense of nostalgia from my childhood because I grew up on those foods he and his family were eating. So, thanks Mark!

Esan or Northeastern Thai cuisine is absolutely delicious and my all time favorite in the whole wide world. Love love the fresh flavors, hot and sour favors, and one of favorites is the bitter flavor. I have had all of those dishes in the video and my mouth is watering wildly now.
So my kid and me binge watched Mark's incredible videos all weekend long, drove an hour and back packing a Thai spice level papaya salad from a renowned restaurant, and blowing our sinuses out. Mum son kind of bonding for mother's day.

What an amazing video. So much positive energy. Absolutely loved it thank you. That beef is the perfect cut for making biltong with the yellow fat. Makes the best biltong ever.
