  • (See the bottom of the description for my commentary regarding this segment)
The fifth segment of the film I made about my brother and his experience of living as a recovering drug addict and victim of the psychiatric system. BEST VIEWED IN 4K.
This final cut was made by me on the 16th anniversary of the filming of the first version of this film which has undergone many revisions during the extremely difficult circumstances involved with the production, including the suicide of one of the cast members.
There will be interview clips following the presentation of the film, and I recommend viewing them in an alternate playlist which will be provided that incorporates them into the film, but only after viewing the film in the original order without the interruption of the interviews, which only breaks the flow of the film. Obviously, pun intended, the best viewing experience is to view all of the segments continuously, but do as you see fit!
    COMMENTARY:
The concluding scenes bring the overlap of the various domains into a common perspective.
The aim of the film was to highlight the fact that every single one of us defines our own reality. There is freedom in seeing this in your own life.
The computer that is destroyed in the final scene was my very first computer, and it can be seen at various times throughout the film. I learned to program on that machine, which I obtained in 1981, and it was instrumental in many of my endeavours, especially for making music. It became part of my on-stage performance rig for my high school band, and I even used it when I produced the first Kon Kan album, even though it was already quite old by then.
It would have been nice to keep it around as an artifact, but it served one final purpose and provided a dramatic ending to my single biggest effort, and that seems not only fitting, but perhaps even destined to be!
The song we can hear during the closing credits is one which I wrote and sang to explore the suicide of my close friend, band mate, music production partner and cast member Massimo "Mo" Rosati. I wish he was here with me to participate in the resurgence of ZULU MATRIX.
The music of ZULU MATRIX and many of my other projects can be heard throughout the film, as well as a few songs by friends... see the details in the credits!
A full, continuous, higher quality version of this film will be made available soon, most likely on archive.org
