Angela, I’m a beginner. My supplies have been sitting in the corner of my living room for a while now. I finally found you. Summoned the courage to Try a few of your paintings. I thought you’d like to know that I finished them and a spontaneous bubble of laughter, of joy came up when I looked at them. You are a REAL teacher. The real deal. Thank you so much for doing what you do.

Thank you for this tutorial, I painted along with you, but used different colors and "made" it my own, My aunt saw my painting on social media and loved the paint so I gave it to her for her Farm House in Rural Iowa! Thank you for the opportunity to learn so much from you Angela!

I really enjoyed seeing you work with the different brushes and why you chose a specific brush. I also started with a value brush and when I bought a better quality one noticed a huge difference, so much so that I truly believe that you brush and paper quality come before paint quality. I’m a huge fan of R&Co brushes and actually think there prices are better then Davinci, Rafael and other mass produced high end brushes.

Lovely painting! Great lesson as always😊. The brush demonstration and critique is very helpful; and, for me it is a very important, necessary part of this wonderful journey. I love the watercolor process and am enjoying the joy it adds to my life! Thank you.

I also have some Rosemary & Co brushes and love them. I also live in Canada and the shipping was not an issue. I love my triangular brush. I also have some synthetic brushes which I like. I use them more for detail as they are the smaller size. I do recommend them. Thank you for sharing your art.

The lesson was very helpful. Great points regarding value, use of similar colors in the painting to make it more cohesive and how to lead the eye. Thank you. Also, I've been interested in Rosemary & Co. brushes for a long time, especially interested in the triangular brushes, so maybe for the holidays I'll splurge. Thank you for using them so we can see how they perform.

You are a wonderful teacher.Thank you. I had a hard time finding a soft enough synthetic squirrel brush. Because I too love the ultra soft squirrel, I looked high and wide. I eventually found the Princeton Neptunes, which are now my favorite brush. They are so soft and really enough soft for me. If you have not tried them, I think you may be pleasantly surprised. If you have and know of a better synthetic squirrel, I would love to know. Again thank you so much for your fearless openness!

Great video Angela. I love Rosemary's brushes! My first two brushes made by jean haines i bought at Rosemary's. I am in love with the 100% kolinsky designer round brushes i bought later at Rosemary's. Use them all the time. I love my sword red sable blend brush too. Makes nice thin lines. I am subscribed to your channel but i didn't get the notifications in time. So unfortunately didn't get the link. Thanks for all your valuable knowledge. I need help in landscapes. Have a block of what to put in it. I have one question, does the kind of water in painting makes a difference? Talking about tap well water vs distilled. I have had problems lately with the well water on the arches paper and paint. Looks dull. This video helps so much. Thanks tons for your expertise.

Curious about how you avoid unwanted blooms and hard edges working wet into wet. You seem to be able to add both pigment and water to your washes without undesirable effects. I know the theoretical answer is to keep “everything” (paper/brush/pigment) uniformly wet, but I really struggle with the practice. Am currently using Kilimanjaro 140 lb cold press. Thoughts?

  • @alexbeury579

Great tutorial! I struggle a lot with value, so frustrating, but I like the way you talked through thinking about numbers on the value scale throughout....I’m going to give that a go, hopefully it’ll help! Also, I was wondering about the reference photo and how on the far away hill, in the picture, it’s got darks in it. I understand that lighter colors pushes things back, however if I’d just painted that scene I would’ve tried to put the darks back there, is that wrong? Was it done the way you did just to keep it in the back? & or was it just artistic license? I’m new to landscape painting and I struggle with all of this. I want to paint loosely but my work ends up stiff and trying to get too realistic. I was wondering as well, what was the name of your big #16 dagger? Brush you often use?

IS it ok to mix brands?--does the different chemistry make a difference or should you stick to one brand per palette ?
