  • For less than $50 on Amazon this is a very decent ukulele. It's not exciting and for $5 more you can get exciting by buying the Hricane sapele gloss on Hricane website I keep talking about. But if you want sturdy and electric and you like the look of zebrawood, this Caramel is a good buy.
This ukulele may have richlite fretboard and possibly bridge. They don't match.

Hi Rich. I bought that one last month. I love it. Stays tuned well. And enjoy playing it

Good solid uke at low price. If you want onboard tuner and pickup, impossible to do better for the money. Thanks for sharing your experience with this ukulele!! Rich

I have a Caramel electric zebrawood tenor from 5 or 6 years ago, made not long after "Reuben" changed their name to "Caramel". Much better than the one uke I had at the time (Makala concert), but not nearly as good as my first solid top (Caramel spruce concert).

Caramel has been making zebrawood ukes quite a while now. I never had one that was non-glossy until now. The open style headstock is a recent addition. Thanks, Keef. Rich

How is the intonation at the 12th frets compared to the open tuning GCEA?

Not so hot. I tested four of my ukuleles. Hricane saplele was perfect. Hola! soprano did well. This uke wouldn't be useful for people playing up the neck with precision. People playing the first five frets would probably be fine.
