Reminds me of talking to Gief in story mode and learning that he thinks he probably could learn to shoot a fireball but he also thinks it would be really lame.
The impressive part to me is how quickly and easily he did it. I'm still struggling to get my 4th character to master months after release here. He clipped out all 20 and is almost there on random in the same time frame
Yoooo I am Girthanthiclops, the gief that you said jumps too much. I was able to get to master recently by jumping less and actually playing the game. Really cool to see myself appear in one of your videos and watch my own bad habits.
Someone probably told you during all this, but Randy Random is the name of the storyteller ( basically the AI that sends you events ) in the colony management game Rimworld.
Hey sajam, the e Honda setup you tried was wrong you got them confused, after lp mp target combo medium headbutt, you get a safejump with jump heavy kick, meaty overhead setup is after a headbutt when the opponent is grounded and is st lk into 3hk, you'll be up to +8 from this setup. Hope this helps, DOSUKOI.
I've been playing fighting games for about 6 months and comments like this still don't look real to me lol. I think saying "meaty overhead setup" in the grocery store would get me arrested. 😅
@@8thlvlMage yes fighting games have many nerdy terms sorry, the vernacular for fighting games is ever growing and can become cumbersome and confusing at times for sure
While I know random select is to show mastery of the cast, I hate playing about half of the cast and would truly be at the mercy of rng. Like if I random'd into a gief mirror I'd just let them have it lol.
I get what you're talking about with the Cammy player not knowing how to play neutral. SF6 has such degenerate offense that players at lower levels can't really defend, especially if they play classic. That, in turn, means that they don't need to learn to defend because they can succeed by staying on offense. I had a hilarious set against a Cammy player in Battle Hub a few days ago when I decided to try out modern for the first time. She just kept doing the spoiler alert from across screen and I kept hitting the one frame DP to stop it. So she switched to jumping in, which did not counter the DP any more effectively. That was when I realized that modern really changes the game at lower levels and makes it more defensive and neutral-focused. I'm feeling a lot more positive about modern now.
Ah yes, random every round, the Mokujin. Sadly SF6 appears to take more time than Instantaneous to load new characters, so I don't think it could pull that off, funny though it would be.
I recognise what Sajam said about playing neutral Cammy without learning proper neutral (am Cammy main). What's a good character that forces you to learn proper Street Fighter in this game? Is it Ryu?
Shotos, in general, are good for forcing you to learn to play neutral. However, you don't have to switch characters to learn how to play neutral. You should just purposely try playing neutral with Cammy instead of bypassing it. At the beginning, you will probably lose a lot, but in the long run its worth it.
Whoever is editing and posting the videos. if you're allowed. for future videos of random select could you hide sajam's character in the chapter titles? I kind of like not having any idea of who he's gonna get
every time I learn a new character I lose my old ones because everything is stored in muscle memory. I genuinely don't understand how it's physically possible to play master level as random.
Because you need concious thought to execute the concepts that make up a characters gameplan, if you understand what a character does you can use that strategy to beat anyone. Also for us casuals who can't play 8 hours a day, it'll take a lot longer but it's possible. Try spacing out your character growth, get all your chars to Plat, then get em all to Diamond and then get them all to Master. Doing it like that is helping me massively improve with chars and the overall game mechanics. I started out late about 3 months ago, i have ken, deejay and kimberley master right now. Moving to chun li and i'm trying to get all characters to master on a week to week basis. I hopefully want to get all of them before the balance patch at the end of year 1.
"they have no clue how to play neutral" and yet, they're diamond. See, if someone who "have no clue how to play the game" can be diamond, and I couldn't get out of Bronze back in september/november, what does that say about me?
Yo I just a dream to make the party complainers quiet. 1st they have to nerf throw loops so that you have to use drive meter or get punish counter. Then make you still guess between high/low. (This is just noting down my dream)
It can be very dangerous for a game for people to be able to succeed with so little fundamental skill, when it doesn't work anymore they'll just get mad and be very weak in areas they now need. This isn't even a fighting game thing if a game has an easy out for learning how to play "properly" you risk a game where players don't know how to engage with challenges after a dozen hours.
@@olaf8778 nah its more that he tryst to act charming and funny when it comes off as disingenuous. That and he thinks he's really good when he doesn't even compete anymore and probably couldn't hang in modern tourneys
"As long as I have a fireball" into the Zangief pick is peak comedy
He might not be Master in random select, but He does master the comedic timing.

I love how at 9:19 after the blocked dp it immediately cuts to round 2, like we all know how that round went after that

Somewhere far away Icarus started playing in that moment

It's wild to see how gorilla some players can be and still climb. The Jamie at 1:35:00 doing point blank jab into drink is insane to me lmao

So many excellent timings just in the placements already. "I haven't played Luke since.." and then Luke. Lol

Seeing Randy Random as the name gave me flashbacks to my time on the Rim Worlds man...
Turns out the real master ranked random select was the friends we made along the way.
So begins the climb of Randy Selleck.

Okay, weird question, but shouldn't Marissa's Level 3 KO on the wallsplat instead of the punch? Feels like it would be more satisfying.

I'm 100% guilty of being a butter-churner on defense in older games; it's a bad habit I'm working on breaking
