I have an idea. Jamie can keep his drinks between rounds, but he pees his pants and loses them all whenever he is burned out. And if he loses, the winning character makes fun of him and calls him Jamie Pee Pants.
Luke: "Maybe cool down on the drinks if it's that hard to hold your bladder! What are you, some sort of Jamie Pee Pants? Haha!" Honda: "Not sure peeing is allowed in the ring, but if it makes ya happy Jamie Pee Pants, be my guest!!" Cammy: "Urination on the battlefield... Not the worst thing I've seen but certainly the weirdest. If you fought anyone with less honor you'd be known as Jamie Pee Pants forever" Dee Jay: "Ey! don't piss all over de ground, das nasty man! Next time it happens ye won't be able ta jiive with me, Jamie Pee Pants!"
Whenever I find another Jamie online, I try to offer them a free chance for both of us to start the fight at drink 4. Most of them don't take it though, understandable since we both want the win in the end though.
as a low rank JP player i can confirm, i LOVE neutral jumping. the thought process is just "neutral jump lets me fish for punish counter jumping HK, which gives big damage and makes brain happy". this character inflicts actual brainrot and i love it
When you’re JP playing mid screen neutral, people like to rush at you on the ground and stopping them is hard. Doing it in the corner is absolutely a general low level SF thing, but it is funny both JPs in a row were doing it.
I love the second half of this video, explaining the difference between grinding in ranked and playing to get better was just so good. This video is full of great advice.
Cause it's garbage gimmick that doesn't actually do anything. The 6 HK is minus on block at all drink levels so people always press a jab afterwards so all the other cool routes are worthless. Honestly the only time you'll ever see anything is on counter hit because then the headbutt will combo.
Sajam gets mesmerized trying to do all this math and make reads vs a player that literally just sits there and blocks. Sajam can flow chart win this easily, but he is so curious as to his playstyle that he just lets him win. Extraordinary stuff.
Your advice in this casual gameplay is some of the best advice to someone who wants to climb. You should make a full advice video dedicated to what you say here
I feel like ive consumed so much media of this game since its reveal and played a bunch, and ive never seen that Jamie target combo in the beggining, wtf...
It took me longer than I car to admit for me to realize why sajam wasn't using breakable into lvl 3 in some combos. It was the Cammy match 1:43:57 where I realized it was cause he didn't have it and now I have to practice the palm into super route for those situations myself lol
Jamie can Ex Palm off of a wallstick to get a juggle. The most optimal I’ve found is Cr hp -> ex Palm -> hp -> DR Cr hp -> hk Breakdance. It does a ton of damage and leaves you with a super cancel at the end. It does cost 5 bars of your drive gauge tho so only use it if it’s gonna kill
I've found doing a back or down back input breaks the accidental DP input. Ken for example it lets you do fireballs while walking forward so it's really helpful
It doesn't actually do anything, it just delays your input. Try doing a 180+kick really fast and you'll get DP because pressing forward and then doing down forward within like 13 frames always inputs DP. Realistically they need to change to input to 2-1-4 because the breakdance NEEDS to be use useable on reaction and 90% on the time you'll be moving forward when you use it.
This sweet Sajam tech is what's finally going to get me from Platinum 5 star to Diamond. I definitely didn't know about any of those safe jumps and was just doing heavy dp and breakdance for the damage.
If you wanna beat Guile with Jamie use EX breakdance, complete projectile invulnerability. For the best results get 4 drinks and use Jamies level 2 super to get back the bar you used from the EX, and the level 2 lets you combo afterwards on hit and on block you get a mix up. You can do this with at least 2 drinks, but if you’re at 4 drinks the EX is free because of the level 2 super giving you 3 drive bars. (Level 2 doesn’t give you drive bar unless you’re at 4 drinks, and you don’t have the meter drain at 4 drinks because you’re already drunk.)
Once I get my drive rush combos down, I'm gonna start practicing that corner combo with the sweep. Seems like even if the sweep misses, people try to punish but can't get their button out fast enough.
It’s important that the thumbnail masters know it read it as “WASTED” for a full minute before realising it said master. I’m sure this information will make for a wonderful future thumbnail
12:17 so a combo I think woulda actually gotten some more damage off is Lp->Lk->Mp->DR->Mp->c.Hp->OD Palm->LVL2 super->DR->Hk->OD/H Palm->Palm pt 2. I think it woulda gotten more damage, idk tho.
Candidate put forwards for hinged Jamie buff idea: give him the drink when he stops drinking, not the end of the animation. Could not count the drinks in this video alone that went undrunk because you were hit clipping the gourd back onto the carabiner.
1:30:45 thank you for explaining why i always have the feeling that pros coukd be doing more during matches. I always wondered why they were so passive compared to my playstyle. The only thing that kinda doesnt make sense to me still is why risky plays are "bad long term" and what that exactly means. If you play risky the entire time, surely your opponent wouldnt always be able to anticipate your risks? Unless playing vs marisa or zangief where guessing twice loses you the game, im not entirely sure why risky is inherently bad for progression
Because it's less likely to win you matches consistently? If you go for something safer and more consistent you will end up in a better situation more often, even if you guessed wrong, so will win more. If you consistently make very risky decisions then it's likely that you'll guess wrong eventually and you will lose the set as a result, especially as you play better opponents and their punishes get better

Anybody know a good video talking about good and bad times to drive rush? I feel like part of my current plateau is not using it right. edit: specifically 3-bar DR, not parry drive rush
Depends on character and situation: if it'll kill it's always worth it as drive bar resets, it can also be worth it if it gets you a better mixup or gets corner carry or a side switch since that puts you in a better position. And sometimes you just gotta guess and see what happens
A lot of the time it can depend on the character. If you're fighting someone like Cammy with a 3 frame jab that converts into spiral arrows you probably don't want to be throwing out DI in neutral because they're going to be fishing for it. I wouldn't be throwing out drive impacts all the time either, it's more of trapcard, not a tool you want to rely on for damage which is the mistake beginners make.
Gives you good oki. If you light DP then do forward dash x2 you're +4 and right next to them even if they back tech. Also gives you a safe jump in the corner.
A lot of characters have moves that can go straight past the command grab and ghost projectiles. I think for Ken it is his Drive rush, I know that is the case for Juri and Dee Jay.

But in the same vein, I think Jamie should lose SOME drinks between rounds, but nobody is gonna completely sober up between rounds. It's silly. So he should like lose -2 per round at most, but can't go below level 1 or 2 drink. Idk if those numbers are balanced, as I'm not exactly a dev, but I don't think that sounds too unreasonable for both characters.
honestly I'm fine with him losing drinks, but I think the only thing I'd change is that he gets access to the 5LP>5LK>5MP target combo at level 0 instead of 1, its so core to his combos and gameplan that it feels annoying not having it.
