    Just got my bow re-strung and I'm picking up new arrows today! All of mine were lighter/faster for deer. I'm going heavier for elk. Can't wait to start practicing for this upcoming season!

    Corey... if the broadheads hit to the left of the group, move the rest right. If right move the rest left. Great video... you explain things well...

      shabbos1 you’re correct if they hit left of the field point you move the field point towards the broadhead to the left. Left broadhead Impact of FP is the same as a nock right paper tear. Broadhead catches wind and drifts to the left the farther you go, so you would move the rest LEFT. a lot of people have this backwards, you move the FP towards the BH on left and right impacts.

      @@craigfugate6147 If you watch what happens with the arrow as it travels down your rest in slow motion it bends one way and then the other way... which causes people to think the opposite... even with a fall away rest. With a fall away rest the arrow still is in contact for about 1/3rd of the launch.

      George Adams you always do the opposite of what your broadhead does. If it hits left of the FP you move the rest right. Hits right of FP move it left. You have to picture the broadhead plaining to the side that it grabs air on. If it’s a hair nock left tear- it’ll hit right of your FP arrow. Your FP are super forgiving and the vanes will correct them fast out of the bow. Now you throw a BH on the end and it’s like having fletching on the front, so it’s gonna plane the way it comes out of the bow. Even if you start off with a bullet hole thru paper. 9/10 times that fixed blade will fly different at 40 yards. Just my two cents. I got my info from Tim Gillingham and also wasp archery’s website. There’s a lot of wrong info out there on tuning fixed blades. Just try it and see. Cya.

    So, the subject of the video was getting broadheads to fly like field points... But the bow you demonstrated was already there, so you never had to actually deal with the issue. For those of us whose broadheads aren't already hitting like that, the video was much less useful than it could have been.

    Corey do you go through the process of tuning a dozen arrows by squaring arrow ends and bare shaft nock tuning prior to fletching? Great Content

    What I've never understood with this method is that if you shoot and the FP is one place and the BH in another, and you move the rest such that the BH moves toward the FP point of impact, how does the FB POI not move too? You start with the rest in perfect position to create a "bullet hole" with paper tuning, but are then instructed to move that rest from that position to align it with the BH POI. Do you still have a bullet hole having moved the rest?

      Paper tuning is very rudimentary modified French tuning and then walk back tuning are definitely better.

    Do you believe in the practice Broadheads for the striker v 2 meaning are they worth any value to accuracy?

    Good video. Wish I could tell when I am off 3/8 of an inch! Cory must be planning to shoot a fly off a bull’s back!! I do have a question: what is that squeaking noise every time you draw the bow?

    So I was paper tuned shooting dead center with fp shoot bh and was low left adjusted rest and it took fp high right and bh dead center took it back to fp center and 1/4 turn on knock took bh dead center with fp

    Do you sight in at 20 and 40 with a field point before you start this process

    • @Elk101
      @Elk101  5 лет назад +2

      No, I don't actually "sight in" before doing the broadhead tuning. I just get the pins close enough that I can tell if my broadheads are hitting consistent with my field points (both might be an inch low, etc.). Once I know the two are hitting consistently, then I'll sight in. However, if I sight in first, and I need to do more tuning, I'll have to re-sight-in again after re-tuning...

    Good content, but......I would rec shooting BH out to your maximal lethal/ethical distance when tuning, which will be different for each archer. But we must responsible hunters and BH flight with fixed blades at higher speeds (>280fps) and longer distance can get tricky.....be patient before MICRO-tuning. But you'd be surprised about what looks "close" or 1/2" difference at 40yds only to find spread as you increase distance. Your set with 2 targets is nice, if a guy has just one then shoot your BH first, followed by FP so to not shred arrows....obviously video edited down to be concise, but with BH tuning (or any tuning) shoot groups of arrows and track groups so that you don't adjust your tune on just "1 shot". Bareshafts (and the correct tuning adjustments) are same for BH (on compound) so if no access to safely shoot BH, can bareshaft tune out to 20yds which will get you extremely close for BH
