    What I really want to see in SoD 3 is more base management/customization, being able to expand your base, larger communities and maybe some weapon customization as well.

      Honestly the only thing I care about in sod3 is having an actual multiplayer system. Right now the coop is trash, the person you invite is basically just sitting in the back seat and almost just a spectator with a gun.
      I hope coop becomes more involved and integrated, giving you the option to basically share a world with a friend. They can still have the old system for randoms you want to invite, but as someone who only finds the game fun when playing with someone, it just starts to feel very lackluster.

      Agreed. Something like Fallout 4's free-building system for the main base and outposts would do so much for game longevity. Also dynamic, growing communities that behave like actual settlements (scavenging, attacking, defending, fortifying their base etc).

      U should check out "7 Days to Die" along with a few mods in that case ... It's like State of Decay but with more Base building and survival Elements... Also is a lot more horrifying

    These are great changes, but to truly enjoy playing forever, they are going to have to devote one of their feature updates to giving us more missions. The same 15 to 20 over and over and over and over is as tedious as me writing “over and over...."

      @@SimplyPhoenix I mean... difficulty is not that difficult to make i think... just crank up Z's not just by owned influence but also by... how many maps did you play... how many days is your run long.
      Also my wish-feature: Make hordes come in from the map borders and grow to bigger hordes slowly shambling over the map... eventualy attacking enclaves and your base if you don't do something about... thinking about "The Walking Dead" where they had the horde scouts who drove them away at horseback by herding them like cattle.

    Its about time we can see who has what inventory in legacy pool. No longer have to start 12 games to carefully write down what each character has and swap gear. Liking the 5 game slots. I imagine folks will have less difficulty putting together stacked hero bonus groups or blood plague survivor groups too.

    Im glad undead labs actually cares about there games ans puts so much heart and soul into it it makes me feel like they actually care about me as a consumer and that means a lot when you have companies like Activision who just want to squeeze you for ever cent

      They care about State of Decay 3 sales. This is why they test things with State of Decay 2 to tune things up for the next game.

      @@hazalad absolutely true, I'm guessing they also justify this as adding value to game pass... The cash security that MS can provide a relatively small studio is pretty significant. The studio doesn't have to "bet the house" on SoD3 thankfully.
      You're right though that they get to do some light beta tests this way too.

    Congratulations to Geoffrey, his promotion is definitely warranted he's done such a great job and his enthusiasm has kept these live streams very entertaining! That said, update 30 is going to be HUGE. If, for the anniversary, we only get update 30 instead of any other little gift/feature I'll still be very happy. I'm still wondering if we're going to see anything else for the summer game fest or if this massive update will drop then, who knows. Exciting stuff!

    Love to see the ability to 'convince' friendly enclaves to merge (no more than 2 for simplicity) and also get them to move to an unused home site of your choosing. Also allow the AI enclaves to actually heal themselves. And if they are infected/plagued radio call a mission to cure them. Hell extra influence or supplies if we pick them up and let them use our own infirmary to treat their BP infection.

      Yes yes yes say it again! Heal thyself enclave! It can be done over a game play time of 4-8 hours. Not so fast but not ever either and if the get the plague…we should be able to sell them a cure that they use like the painkiller mission…

    Glad to see they are adding inventory and information to the legacy pool. It was also a pain to find someone with a certain skill my community needed. Being able to recruit from my legacy pool really is a game changer.

    This update will be great, I’m really hoping for an overhaul to base customization in the future, let us reinforce doors and such, and also I really want the SoD1 style of military trucks to return, they looked amazing

      This is a really good idea. I wouldn’t want full customisation like fallouts settlement building but just giving us a bit more creativity. As you said maybe let us reinforce doors, but also maybe the fences, similar to say the command post or the storage, at every base you have a fence which you can upgrade with materials, maybe if you have a character with electronics you could make it an electrical fence. Also I still don’t know why there isn’t an indoor lounge (I know the red talon officer quarters exists but it is really hard to get and doesn’t fill that void). I think like a living room or a game room would be good. Also just I think updating the upgrades, like I want to see the max lounge being like a little makeshift wood house with a makeshift door instead of just a tent, but this is just a cosmetic change that I would like to see. Another thing is maybe the ability to upgrade outdoor beds and turn them into indoor beds with a makeshift tent or wood hut. Idk just some thoughts that would make base building more fun and unique.

      @@ranger1186 About costumization: I realy like the lights they allready added... but with the outpost update i hoped for a design-update for them too in stages.
      If you just claim a outpost: Give it a locker and lights... but if you start upgrading as example a food outpost add some fortification and some planting boxes to SHOW us that it now gives out more food and is more secure. Could all be done with allready existing textures from base facilities but in my opinion would add so much...
      Also i would love some updates on facility upgrades if possible... if you build outdoors its ALLWAYS this... garden tent? And everyone knows how easy they fly away in a storm and are not good to secure... so for first stage... fine... but if you have a facility at Level 3 change the tent to a wooden shed or something...

      @@g0lgrim1 first, the outpost upgrades is a really good idea, I remember being pretty disappointed when I first upgraded an outpost and it changed nothing, I would love to see somewhere going from say an old fast food restaurant to a secure food storage centre, or a pharmacy to a medicinal lab.
      Also your second point is what I was trying to say. Love your idea for the different stages of upgrades. If you ask me state of decay 2 is an amazing game but one that could be made 100% better. I am hopeful though as undead labs seems to know what there doing and seem to be listening to the community about what we want to see in the game.

      @@g0lgrim1 so for instance, let’s say a barracks starts out with what it is in game. Just like one of those garden tents with tarp round some of the sides and wooden boards for some of the inside of the tarp. Then let’s say level 2 closes of the gaps in the tent and tarp (like between the top of the tarp and the bottom of the tent there is always a gap there) and then adds like a blanket or carpet or something over the entrances to act as some sort of door if you get what I mean by that. Then like lvl 3 is just an entire overhaul of the barracks and turning it into some sort of mini hut made of mainly plywood and a bit of strong wood with maybe a bit of tarp. I know this really doesn’t matter cuz it’s just cosmetic but I love the cosmetic design of the bases in game.

    I just want the missions tied to the radio. I want the neighbors to leave me alone until I'm settled and get bored and I use the radio and say "Anyone need some help out there?" and go do a mission. Being hounded with the same ol' sh*t over and over is what keeps me from coming back. I've tried. I last about 10-15 minutes before they annoy me and I shut it down again. Rescues are fun. I'm down with the "help! I'm screwed! save me!" calls. but the "you still workin' on that thing we talked about?" um ... no. That's just really REALLY annoying and usually not half the fun that I could have had on my own with that time. Seriously, add new missions and tie almost all of them to a radio mission request.

      It would be very cool to have a "radio silence" option that turns off missions till they're turned back on. I'm a fan of Warlord style play. My community is the only thing that matters. So having to constantly hear the "help us we're dumb and can't get fuel even when we live right next to a fuel tank" is really annoying to me.

    Really wish these legacy characters were those from SoD1. Marcus, Maya, Ed, The Doc and Sam.
    Also, MORE missions. I can't continuously express how tedious the missions are.
    Other than that, this game is still going strong since 2018.
    Not sure, but I heard we were getting a new leader legacy too.

      All we got was a radio msg from Lily saying "some" of them may no longer be there.
      We know Alan died from black fever. Pastor Al turns and normally kills Jacob in my playthroughs, but Marcus, Maya and Ed have been left for us to determine.

    I'm the most excited about the whole thing with legacys. I have a forever community and a lot of supplies&guns that I don't know what to do with them,so calling survivors and giving them stuff and calling out again is the best option for me

    Feature: Massive Horde Invasion
    Instead of scripted spawn zombies in the base, we should have a massive hordes of zombies coming from the edge of the map walking slowly to your base you should wittle down before they reach the base in full strength. Also why not let us upgrade base defenses with unique ones by homesite, for it to be more exciting.

    We need different missions and be able to freely customise our characters like what if we want a mixture of different outfits or something like the military pants but a different kind of shirt or something needs to be like GTA kind of customisation for clothes.

    This update is amazing. Now I have never completed state of decay 2, when ever I get close I just move map to keep my community, this update is gonna push me try completing the game.
    I also have an idea for the next update, so if somehow some undead labs devs are reading this take note.
    The ability to customise your starter character. First I wanna talk about cosmetically, so the ability to choose there head type, hair, skin tone, but also adding new stuff like facial hair, glasses and etc. But then also the ability to customise your survivors traits and skills. For traits I don’t know how this would work, maybe you choose from all avalible traits but that might be overpowered, as for skills I think a fallout style skill system would work well so let’s say you get 15 points at the start of the game to spec out your survivor, so if you want a powerhouse who can take down plague hearts with ease you can spec out fighting and shooting, if you want a character able to do looting runs then you can spec out your points into cardio, then backpacking or maybe you just want a decent jack of all trades survivor with equal skills. Also maybe add the ability to control your characters skills they level up into, so if you want someone with swords play you can make sure they will level up into swordsplay. As far as I know you can’t control this, but then again I am pretty much a newbie (refer to statement at top of this comment), but I thought this feature would be amazing in the game.

      You should complete two playthroughs, the "builder leader" playthrough and the "sheriff leader" playthrough. Doing so gives you passive bonuses in later playthroughs, such as permanent electrocity and water and random daily items dropped in your base. In addition you _can keep_ all your community members and add them to a list of survivors to choose from in any other playthrough. This system is called "legacy". There are two other "legacies" than builder and sheriff, but they give one-time bonuses like lots of weapons whenever you start a new playthrough or a special trader.
      So I recommend doing a builder and a sheriff playthrough before starting your "forever community".
      Another tip: to play forever, just don't appoint a leader instead of switching maps and having to start all over again.

    Mannn all I can say is that you guys just made the game better with this… although one more thing would be nice, new missions.
    IMPORTANT!!!
    Would be nice if you guys add or make the Hostile enemies around the map that sometime during the gameplay they get really mad that they decide to attack our community or Allie’s around the map.
    Over all AWESOME CHANGES!!! Shout out to the team from undead labs for this new better changes to the game!!! Can’t wait to try them out

    When it comes to SoD3 I want only 3 things.
    1: I want to create at least one character.
    2: I want to be able to MAKE bases and outposts.
    And 3: I want characters in communities to actually be able to interact. I want to see characters dating, teaching others how to make items, getting drunk, singing campfire songs, partying, getting into fistfights, etc. I also want us the player to be able to do these things too as it would add an insane amount of immersion and interesting moments.

    In regard to what future updates I hope to see, I know it's a long shot BUT, given that Forever Communities are becoming more prominent, it would be really cool to see some more advanced base customization come forward also; free-placed facilities (unlimited facilities with increasing influence cost would be really cool), reinforced entry points, roving patrols as opposed to static watchtowers. I'd love to see some better community passive actions, like finding some of your community members playing a card game together, or cleaning their weapons, etc. I'd LOVE a photo mode, but coupled with some more dynamic emotes-I find cigars all the time, I want to smoke them lol.
    Just some random thoughts that I feel would make forever communities feel more dynamic.

    I'm excited to better customize my core group of characters. I already know that my auto mechanics from save slots 1 and 3 will get swapped, along with some of the better weapons going to the lethal playthrough.

    Being able to pick the base straight away (with a huge community!) will be so great for flavour! One of my first communities lived in Drucker County and settled into the truck stop; I made them a motorhead gang since cars were so vital for getting around that map. I've just reinstalled after a 2 year break, so not only have I got those big updates to enjoy, but more incoming.

    That will be an awesome update! The inventory, skill and trait description feature is amazing. Three things are still unresolved, although they would be much needed.
    The first is the Supply Locker's fold/unfold by the item name. I have a 90 day multiplayer support community where the storage is already so full that the scroll bar is barely visible. I have a lot of the same items that would be good to show as one that could then be opened (fold/unfold).
    The other idea is to leave the car with the engine running. It would use fuel and generate noise, but when you go back you can start much faster and go away. Maybe the driving skill could be used for this purpose or give some bonus it...
    And the last request: in multiplayer, you can pass objects directly to each other, unlike drop the objects to be shared on the ground and then pick up one by one.

    So excited for this update. No longer do I have to create custom character inventory and quirk sheets to log my legacy pool.
    I've had a dream for a long time of creating a Green Zone "Recruitment Camp", run by some of my first legacies, where I just farm survivors for the best traits, needed skills, and level them up to graduation and send them off to the pool or a community. Finally this will be possible. 🙂 The idea of actually having a supply/support network that can operate among FIVE various communities is unbelievably exciting.

    7:30 the file/retrieve survivors is the biggest actual gameplay change, and is amazing.
    My Trumbull Dread team needs a munitions warlord for a bit? Switch to Meagher Green and send them and a full pack of supplies for the construction. And take a Haven device back when she leaves. You can truly have one big community across multiple maps/difficulties.
    Now I just hope the influence costs aren't absurd.
    Really impressed Money$oft has allowed them to continue to adjust Deauxcay for 4 years!!!

    I would love it if they added at least 5 new faces for both male and females. I have many characters that look the same. Different clothing outfits are not enough. Maybe some male characters could also have facial hair.

    I'm hoping for mounted guns in cars and in base. And like an upgradable truck with the mounted guns and cool flood lights would be fun to use in lethal mode. like a moving base.
    And more upgradable light system in base to increase brightness like the floodlights in those fields. they aren't much of a light.

    One thing I hope to get in the future is actual military and red talon or even swat gear like the breakdown survivors of it was cosmetic or actually did something like in breakdown I think it would be pretty sweet

    Thanks for the info! Awesome update, I worked to build a posse of Red Talon. I was role playing sans their backstory as the best trained soldiers to help survive and reestablish community. Late game they're super powered and after doing a lap through all maps an impass. Break them up which at the time can never be reformed, or shear boredom. With the update I feel like I'm really calling over an old friend. The only thing I know is likely to be a hard sell, clear the map of all zombies and take back state of decay geography. I'd really like to finish the game one time and know I defeated the zombies. Thx again

    My wish is that they increase the number of people in enclaves to 5. Then whenever you recruit anyone from those enclaves to have them maybe become hostile. And also when enclaves are allied have the option to have them move into our outposts.

    I love the update , but one thing that has to be added in my opinion, just a small thing would be for your character to be able to hold his weapon instead of just putting it away after you stop aiming

    The new sorting is gonna be amazing as sometimes I want CLEO weapons but I have scroll all the way down just to find them I have around 700 guns and I play on xbox so I cant just drag it down. Great feature.

    I would like traps or some sort of defense at outposts and like previous comment more ways to secure your base and outposts like to be able to upgrade the walls around your base maybe have traps around your base and to be able to have more than 12 survivors and maybe recruit people to stay at your outposts

    I want a top to bottom high-rise map/game. Have bases on different floors, outposts, survivors, etc. Think of defending stairwells n ventilation ducts, gardening on roofs or south facing windows...

    It would be amazing if undead labs could do a small edit to lethal. My personal experience with the game mode has been generally great, but whenever I start a new game on the difficult there’s always a super freak, or an enemy that takes a lot to kill especially for brand new survivors(I.e) the blood feral. If they could make it so they weren’t so prevalent right at the beginning that would be great.

    Hey please find out if with this being added is there gonna be things to keep it around the same playing field. In other words I like that there is modes that are almost too hard .and this will make it too easy once getting those certain characters are gained .so can u ask them if their to add anything to conteract this change

    That is huge indeed, loved the game to death but my main gripes with it was the fact that i couldn't keep playing with my community after the leader quest and the fact the game doesn't have a fully coop community (that striked my fiancée pretty hard). With one of the two problems scratched away, i can only hope for the second one to be implemented.

    It might be cool to have a multi-player match mode where you have two teams against each other in a whole map where you still play like usual campaign, with the exception being your team is trying to kill theirs. While dead heads try to kill both teams. Maybe there is even a zombie team. The match has no time limit. You either win by killing the other team, or by the other team being killed by zombie. Maybe

    I still want to be able to build and or craft my own base anywhere on the map, I want to be able to expand and add expansions to my base as long as I have the resources for it, But I do like these changes.
    Also, I have noticed that there are a lot of rooms in pre-made bases that go unused for things, they should just structure each base without built-in accessories and allow you to expand the length of your base so as long as you have the resources for it, you essentially can add in everything from a kitchen to a machine shop instead of paying influence on premade bases that way it gives you a variety and you can expand your base wherever you choose on the map so if you like your base in the mountains isolated where there used to be a military outpost you should be able to turn that into a base. anyways you get the idea.

    I agree, being able to scrap those pesky low level backpacks will be a major plus - I'm a hoarder and I like to collect everything in the game, so yeah, being able to scrap anything for parts is a major plus - I also like the 5 saves because I also like to have multi games going - did they ever fix the boot inventory of the vehicles to be more slots? We want at least 50 slots lol so we don't have to keep on using mods to do so

    I love the addition of legacy recruiting but I really wish UL reconsider the parts salvaging in lethal zone.
    Parts means toolkits, fuel bombs, firecrackers, etc. This update kills the concept of scarcity, any loot now means free parts. Any house will become an abundance of parts.
    At least all the other additions are dope.

    I stopped playing the game last year because of its redundancies! Every now and then I’ll play the game for nostalgic reason…It would be nice to add missions to the Forever Communities update! Anyway nice channel man!!

    QoL changes. That's good. Reason i didnt want to "finish" run - is because i lose everything i got and everyone except for 3 survivors. So i kinda was stuck in just moving to other maps instead.
    But i still feel 50 slots is a bit underwhelming. I feel like 100-150 should be much better. As well as letting people from your pool to appear in your playthrough as possible recruits (i believe this is how it was in SoD1).
    But still, game needs a bit more challenge. Like aggressive AI communities, that taking up bases. And making plague hearts like plague walls in heartland. Where you need to use special grenade on them to make it vulnerable. And different types of zombies (even tho i understand it wont happen, but still, they can playtest new zombie types for upcoming SoD3)

    I just want custom character for the 3rd game be awesome same 4 skills like normal then if you want a 5th you can put a 5th and custom face hair and other options too, then traits too that go by the person you wanna make too that fit you as a person

    I hope that they add new missions, a lot of them have been the same since the game came out; taking a look from the sod 1 ones could make it work, there’s enough variety with the mechanical things and objects from that game, like making a distraction, scouting threats from watchtowers, certain activities to deal with the frustration of community members, and the ones that are available to increase the trust of enclaves (those are much better than just having to give them supply bags). In sod 1, neighbors invite you to hunt freaks (this is more fun is you do it in certain ways like the sasquatch ones from lifeline), handle with sieges while you mechanically barricade their home, deal with infestations, etc. A lot of them involve interaction with the zeds; in sod 2 we spent more time driving than anything else, cuz that’s another problem, the game activities have a trigger algorithm that makes you drive from the edge of the map to another, just to pulse bottoms (that’s caused for the limited individual and vehicle inventory too, looting trips are short af; and again, we spent more time driving to the loot spot, than looting)
    Reading the survivor traits from the wiki can be a good generator of secondary missions too, and all of them can be unique; cuz i have enough of that prepper auntie, lol
